I'm sorry to say that Bethesda has made it abundantly clear that they don't care at all about their fans, in fact, I don't think they even enjoy making games anymore. They're only interested in milking as much money out of us as they can for as long as they can.

As much as I hate to admit it, PC, you've made your point so eloquently that I can't help think that you might be right. I always thoughtof mods leading the ES series in the other direction - they come along every few years, but thats ok because modders make it last that long. Just look at Skyrim. But taking this a step further, yeah, I can definitely see Beth seeing the success of mods and calling it quits.

I know the whole gaming industry has to be a little bit mysterious to not build hype to early (*cough No Man's Sky *cough) but c'mon Bethesda.

Hey guys, just a quick reminder to not confuse Bethesda Game Studios with Bethesda Softworks. The former are the devs of TES and FO. The latter are the publishers of all the games we see coming from 'Bethesda'. Wolfenstein and Evil Within have NOTHING to do with the development of TES or FO or the mysterious 'new IPs'. Those games are developed by entirely separate studios.

That said. My cynical and jaded self is telling me that Skyrim may be the last Elder Scrolls game we will ever see. The old paid mods disaster and the new paid mods disaster (Creation Club) is, I believe, an attempt to transform Skyrim and Fallout from games into platforms. The idea is to have other studios and the modding community create content that they can charge for ad infinitum.

Think about it. Bethesda has had a love affair with Minecraft since Skyrim was still in development. Well? There's only one Minecraft. They don't need to release a whole new Minecraft 2, they just add content and updates, and mods. A lot of games are like that. Mostly MMOs. That's what they were hoping to achieve with ESO. Now they're trying to do it with Skyrim and Fallout.

Why on earth would they bother to go to all the trouble of making a new game if they, or better yet--other people--can create new bits of content that they can sell for the games they already have? That's why Pete is trying to 'manage expectations'. He knows they're not going to make another TES, at least not unless they can't nail down this 'charging for mods' business model they're so in love with.

I'm sorry to say that Bethesda has made it abundantly clear that they don't care at all about their fans, in fact, I don't think they even enjoy making games anymore. They're only interested in milking as much money out of us as they can for as long as they can.

I can't see this happening. Skyrim has sold over 25 million copies, an impressive number for a game of its genre. TES is literally what Bethesda is most known for by a longshot. Not Doom, not Quake, not even Fallout. That's like Dodge doing away with their Chargers.  If this is true, however, I will no longer purchase anything Bethesda related.

Just this morning, Pete Hines responded to a Tweet asking him about TES 6 with this article:

    https://www.polygon.com/e3/2017/6/13/15796984/the-elder-scrolls-6-sequel-e3-2017-bethesda-pete-hines

If you're wondering why Bethesda Softworks had nothing to say about the next Elder Scrolls game at its showcase on Sunday the answer is very simple. There is nothing to talk about because the game isn't even in development.

Looks like it's official. TES 6 is NOT in development. I'm going to sulk now.

    Fuck you, Bethesda. Fuck you

*runs to burn his Skyrim CD back from 2011 and sends it to them so that they could see how their fans feel*

To be fair, there hasn't been much raging going on here.

To your point, Beth can publish what they want, but if they were smart, they would publish what their fans want.

Sure, and I'll buy what I want. Which is nothing that has Bethesda's logo on it.

Unless it's ESO, which technically isn't Bethesda.

I mean some their fans wanted a Wolf 2 and Evil Within 2, so I guess they are doing their job then.
