The many faces of Akatosh?

    Well, basically, CHIM is realizing you don't exist, but balancing it out with the idea you do, therefore, zero-summing. Adding one to zero,but also adding negative 1. The Moth Priests have done this

    I think Zero Summing is the pitfall. It's if you  realise  'I AM'  but fail on the 'I AM NOT' and conclude that 'I AM' (adding 1 and -1 and still getting 1. If you get 0, you zero-sum.}

    Yokudans have a lot of deities that don't coincide with some of the other deities, like Leki the Swordmaiden. One thing I've been thinking about is this: the Yokudans and Redguards believe they descended from the original spirits, just like most of the other races believe. But I thought about where their gods fit in. There isn't anything about them even being on Nirn, and I'm starting to think the gods they worship (bar Diagna and debatably HoonDing) are the spirits from creation who DIDN'T take part in Sep's plan. As for the last question(s), not really sure. I like the Yokudan creation myth the best and I've given it way more thought than the other creation myths. However I'm not completely sure Ruptga, leader of the Redguard pantheon, is meant to be Akatosh, but that's a debate all its own.

    That's mad Matt, I love it! So are you saying that the gods of the Redguards have more in common with Daedra? Or that the concepts of Aedra and Daedra (being Aldmeri terms) are irrelevant when discussing Redguard theology, that a whole new perspective is needed in order to understand their religion?

    As for Ruptga being Akatosh I'm not convinced either. It feels like trying to put a square peg in a round hole merging those two. I think whatever light you can shed on this would really help my theory that these time gods are all different, or at least different aspects of a whole.

    It's fucked up and I need it explained to me.

    Why haven't Shoddycast actually covered a useful topic like this instead of wasting resources telling us what we already know about Daedric Princes?

    As far as we can tell, there is no major difference between the Yokudan gods and the Daedra, Mundus-creation-wise (this is, of course, assuming my theory is correct). However, maybe the difference is how they themselves were created.

    Maybe the Daedra and the mortal races (other human races, beast races, elves, etc.) are the beings who were not children of Ruptga. The children of Ruptga who fell for Sep's plan became the Yokudans, the children who didn't became the Yokudan gods, the non-children who fell for Sep's plan became the other races, and the non-children who didn't became the Daedra.

    But there's no mention of Daedra in the Yokudan creation myth so that is 100% theory (so is my previous one).

    The most I can see Ruptga fitting the time deal is he was the first to survive Satakal's hunger therefore he could be the one to 'figure out' time.

    The same reason that the tv series Lost went on for so long: keep them interested by answering nothing and adding more questions.

    So I was a bit slow on the uptake as to what some of Matt's theory could possibly mean, but now I have figured it out I urge anybody who can to dig for more about this. As far as I know, Matt is the first person on this site to make the connection between the Redguard Pantheon and the Magna-ge.

    Could Ruptga be a variation or Redguard version of Magnus?

    I've not looked into any Redguard lore yet but what you guys propose is really interesting. I also wanna look into this separation of Akatosh, Alkosh, and Auri-El that you've proposed, Phil. I'm not a huge lore buff but I really do like the creation myths. Great post mate!
