I don't spend enough time in this group to know if this is the right place, but here goes. I've been messing around with the Warden class and am sort of stuck, I'm not really sure what I want to do with the character. I'd skimmed over the skills before creating the character and seen that most of the abilities had a magicka cost so I was initially thinking of using a staff, then once I actually got into the game and had a proper look at the skills I realised winter's embrace was more tank focused so I've stuck with the two handed weapon that I got during the Tutorial. Despite having put a perk into Two Handed I'm not sure if I want to stick with it, basically I'm wondering if anyone could give me their thoughts on the class and what they think would be a good way to play it.

Sorry I missed this question, GF. As I am on xbox, I haven't had access to the live server yet to test Warden. However, a friend of mine on PC says that the stamina variant of a Warden is very strong. Please bear in mind that many unmorphed skills cost magicka. Why? When the game was originally released there were no stamina classes at all really (or very few).  Over time, things changed. That said, most skills can morph into a stamina variant. So, you can begin your play through using a few magicka class-based skills (which will morph to a stamina ability) yet still wield a 2H, whose abilities cost entirely of stamina.

If it were me, I'd probably roll a stamina Warden using dual wield (my preference) or 2H on the front bar and then bow on the back bar. If you do, make sure you unlock the Netch skill as it returns stamina to you.

That might actually be interesting, I'll keep it in mind if what I'm doing at the moment doesn't pan out like I'm hoping. After talking to Edana about her warden (she was on the test server) I've been trying to see if I can get it to work with a staff, at the moment it's working and I'm trying to decide whether I should morph Impaling Shards to immobalise enemies in the radius or be a ranged skill instead of casting on the user, I'm leaning towards the former since it would be nice for those that got too close to me giving me a chance to place some distance between us.

Can someone explain Champion Points to me? If I am trying to make a Mage character do I just put points into that and ignore the Thief and Warrior constellations?

As you gain XP throughout your adventures, you will gain champion points ("CPs"). CPs are designed to give your character a sense of progression and developments. The CPs you gain will be in rotating order: first one will be for the Warrior, the next one wil be for the Thief, and the next one will be for the Mage (not the exact order). Each constellation has important skills FOR EVERY type of character.

The Warrior and its charges focus on overall defense: magic, physical, poison, DOTs, etc.

The Mage and its charges focus on offense: magic and melee.

The Thief and its charges focus on resources: cost reductions for magic and stamina abilities

    TL;DR:

You need to place points into every major constellation regardless of character class or type.

I'm on NA and I average about 250-300 latency (or ping or whatever you want to call it) from all the way in Australia, not that it has anything to do with your question :P

Now I have a question for you, what platform are you using? Because that matters just as much as the server.

I'm on PC and playing in EU atm, although I don't mind swapping server at some point. Level 23 and feeling like I'm starting to understand the game better now ;)

Has anyone got any tips or advice about crafting?

I decided to plunge into crafting last evening and, to be honest, it ended up being very frustrating. First of all I decided to go for the Alchemy Certification. I went to the node that the crafting master (forget his name...) told me about and collected the ingredients. Then when I came to make the potion I accidentally used the wrong sort of water, which botched the potion. That meant I had to find more instances of the two flowers I needed, and that's where the problems started. I could find plenty of Mountain Flowers but could I find a Columbine Flower? Not a chance! I spent the best part of hour wandering all around the countryside picking up many, many flowers EXCEPT the one I needed...

So I thought I'd switch to Enchanting. The same dude sent me to collect three runestones. Easy enough and - voila - I made the requisite glyph. Newly certified I picked up a Crafting Writ and off I went. Same problem as the flowers - endless drops of many iterations of runes, but absolutely no potency runes. I spent another hour going around the Auridon countryside looking for a potency rune without any success.

Two hours of randomly wandering around the map doesn't seem like a whole lot of fun. Is this how crafting tends to play out, or am I do something wrong here? ** grumble grumble **

Well I'm new to the game, but my strategy fro crafting has been to collect ingredients and store them in my banck as I level my character. ESO in an MMO RPG which means that all crafting will mostly suck until you level it to max.

If you have trouble finding ingridients I'd suggest simply buying them from guild store, easiest way to get mats and it's not all that expensive.

Crafting can be a grind until you level up. However, you can buy ingredients at a corresponding merchant (although their supplies are limited) or at a guild vendor. Crafting items are hot-selling items so you are virtually guaranteed to find what you need as long as you have the coin.

The best way to gather crafting supplies, however, is while you are questing around to do other things. If you put points in the Keen Eye perks, the crafting nodes will be easier to see as you roam around.
