I'm looking for a build that uses open-combat archery, bound bow, and light armor. Preferably without any melee aside from bow-bashing. I'm on PS3, so i can't use mods.

The Boiche Seeker is perhaps the greatest open-combat archery build I can think of--fast pace in-your-face archery, and a lot of insanely fun advanced archery combat skills. This is the original advanced archer build, and perhaps still the best (I just wish the images survived the move from the original Ning site).

Switch out Smithing for Conjuration (LOVE dat Bound Bow), and you're good to go--an advanced archer's paradise ;D

I have a build that I'd argue is even better suited to what your looking for (and tweakable enough that it should fit). I ran it with Bow-Bashing as the Primary form of damage output, but it can shoot as well as any other build, just optomized to bash heads in with a bow.

The Veiled Scribe is the build, same as The Boiche Seeker (which was absolutely the inspiration and I agree with everything Shin said :P) with the images which sucks, but yeah.

Hello all, I am just wondering if there are any other builds besides the Arisen, that uses the Know Your Enemy mod?  I really enjoy going through game play mods with new characters, and I just finished my Coldharbor Daedra playthrough.  :)

Not that I know of. Modded are comparitively new to the Vault (within the last 3 years), and there seems to be a trend to largely keep to the more commonly-used mods (Ordinator, Apocalypse, Imperious. Frostfall, etc.) or Creation Club content. That isn't to say we frown on mods like Know Your Enemy (I've used it myself and enjoyed it when playing an Enchanting/Speech/Smithing/Alchemy playthrough), and you can certainly add it to you mod list for any build on the site, but a lot of our members are inexperienced with mods or play on consoles with limited mod capability.

My suggestion for all mods in Skyrim is typically to use what you personally enjoy for your game. When creating a build for the site, it's a common practice to limit the number of "required" mods because people don't know how far others are willing to tweak their game, or whether or not it will jack up their load order.

A great build to add Know Your Enemy to, though, would probably be an adaptation of The Outsider by The Longchapper.

    Hi Guys,

I wonder if anyone's made a War mage build in Skyrim?
I've recently felt my creative juices for character building again and was wondering if anyone's created such a build.

    Let me know?

    Thanks.

    Interesting.
    Thanks for linking this build.

It does seem to contain some aspects of the skill sets that constitute a war mage, but given the investment into weapons and heavy armor, it seems more traditional battlemage inclined.

I'm trying to draw inspiration from various sources, from d&d right up to ESO on what would make up for the mechanics of this particular class or "sub-class" as it were.
Pretty much like a warlock, a war mage is not one of the "traditional" classes in elder scrolls lore and as such, am trying to figure out the relevant skill sets that would make this build.

Based on what I've looked into thus far, a war mage relies only on magic and magic alone for offense and defense.
The kind of magic practiced is often known as war magic, another concept that is not really clear by elder scrolls definition.

Guess I'll have to look it up the hard way, but if you happen to know any builds that specialize in combat magic not involving augmented melee or traditional ranged weapons, please do let me know.

I'll get the groundwork up for this build in the meantime.
Time will tell if this idea will ever come to fruition.

    Thanks.

To my understanding, a War Mage is a Mage who shines on the battlefield right? They can wear up to light medium armor and use combat magic.

What are you looking for? taking the D&D class and just recreating it in Skyrim or something else?
