Many thanks, saw you on Deltias chat this day he is a great guy really knows what he is talking about, looking forward to getting started, Argonian Templar Healer, Destro Staff, Shields, and well, Healing Magics for me, everyone says they are very "forgiving" to Newbies lol

Yes that is exactly it, it is all very well for people to post builds for others to play, and I for one am thankful for the kindness, but ESO seems to be a game where its not just the build you need to know the mechanics of the game must be learned and practiced, Skyrim is different in that Destruction Mages deal elemental damage most of the time but how many of us actually take the time to find out just HOW those elemental spells work Deltia is superb at explaining that very thing.

So I've dabbled in eso before and have never gotten passed level 12 because I never could really get into it, but I watched your Eye of the Storm video and that was sick! it made me want to dust off my old copy and give it another go but I have no clue where to start. The class I leveled up the most was my sorcerer but I was never much good with him because I always seemed to die when I encountered heavy mobs or a boss. I'm also looking for a solo playthrough, where I can solo public dungeons and maybe even group dungeons if that's even a thing

    Hello, Josh!

Glad my video inspired you to give it another try. Sorcerers are great when built properly. Bear in mind, though, that my sorcerer is end-game build with over 500 champion points. Plus, I have a lot of practice.

I don't know what your sorcerer was like, but I'd venture a guess that you kept getting overwhelmed because you were only level 12. At this level, you are just bearly scratching the surface of what your sorcerer can do. Dig in. Don't let some set-backs in the very earliest of playthroughs deter you from playing. Use the defeats and difficulties to teach you something about the game and your class.

With all that said, I'd be happy to provide you with some pointers on this site and/or in-game (if you are on x1, NA). First, go watch the videos on this page: ESO Beginners Guide to Leveling (Deltia's Gaming). It was published by fellow gamer, Deltia. I am in his guild and have actually run some content with him. He's the real-deal, and the videos on that page provide what I consider to be the best, easiest-to-understand break-down of how to level a character properly.

As for the sorcerer, you need to remember that it is--first and foremost--a ranged caster. If you notice from my video, I kept a confortable distance from the boss and, when in melee range, I applied a shield. Kite the enemies, roll dodge away, and block, block, block. Another thing you might have noticed is that I was constantly moving. Unless your character is a tank, standing still in ESO is a death sentence. This playstyle takes practice, but once you get it down, it will be automatic for you. To help you learn and practice, you could use the summon familiar spell in the daedric summoning skill tree. That little dude can take some of the heat off so you can practice kiting and dealing damage from a distance. If you decide to use it, morph it (when available) to the Clanfear. The clanfear is so strong that it can tank a dungeon boss. Best of all, it will heal you!

Anyway, watch those videos and keep asking questions. If you are on x1, NA and want some in-game guidance, give me a shout-out.

    Good luck!!!

Thank you so much! You've inspired me to give it another go. And sadly I am on PC, but if I have any other questions (which I'm sure I will, especially anything to do with crafting) i'll give you a shout. Also, would you recommend I stay with a sorcerer as my first character or go with another class, because i've heard sorcerers can be a tough class to figure out if you don't know what you're doing

Well, Sorcs are tough but not impossible to master. That said, I feel that a Templar (magicka-based) is the most forgiving class for new players. It has strong burst healing abilities and the damage-output potential is quite high. I have one that I regularly use in PvP.

I feel like that burst healing that templars supply is a life saver, especially with large mobs or bosses. Tonight is the start of the grind so I'll probably end up going with the magicka based templar until I really get the game mechanics under my belt and figure out what I like and don't like playstyle wise but i'll definitely revisit my sorc and figure out what I was doing wrong and apply those tips you gave me. Also deltiasgaming really knows his stuff. I learned alot from that video but anyway, you've been a great help Patriarch! The vault is lucky to have you!

Thanks for your kind words. Enjoy the templar!
