That's a cool idea!  Originally, I was imagining the Norse Berserker to have a familiarity with natural herbs and remedies, but I'm not sure if that really fits.  Some Nord Mead and cooked food would fit much better.

Ultimately though, I wanted a character that was functional as well as role-fulfilling.  Alchemy takes a role-playing character and makes him viable on master difficulty (the only difficulty I play), which I don't think regen items or cooking would really do - at least not without sacrificing some serious stat bonuses from a ring + amulet.

I don't have Dawnguard, so I don't use the crown.

I just tested this, and am now the proud owner of a Stormcloak Officer helmet.

Nice build.  I like that it's fairly straightforward; Rangers and Assassins tend to be viable right from the start, and level fairly organically.  Establishing a theme and play style help give the playthrough some character depth, which makes it more immersive and adds some longevity.

I think this build might be fun to play without a shield.  Either sword/axe dual wielded, or maybe just a sword with nothing in the left.  Windshear would be awesome with this build, though the aesthetic doesn't really match.  Nord Hero and Dragonbone swords would both work very well though; they have some of the best dps stats in the game, and you could supplement with Elemental Fury (which I think would fit very well with this build).

Personally, I prefer Stormcloak Officer Armor to Savior's Hide for aesthetic purposes.  Also the Stormcloak Officer Gauntlets are some of my favorites in the game.  Vampire Boots and Gauntlets *might* work well aesthetically, but I've never tried that look before so that's just speculation.  At any rate, it's a good idea not to use the Stormcloak Officer Boots, as they're affected by Heavy Armor perks instead of Light Armor perks.  Boots of the Old Gods work well for the Sneak buff, and probably aesthetically as well, so good call on that one.

I'm probably going to give this a shot.  I don't think I'll pick up Assassin's Blade or Deadly Aim; I'll just stick to swords.  I think Silent Roll also fits the theme really well, so I'll probably use that a lot.  I might also pick up The Steed stone, and just rely on potions for Invisibility when needed.  If you want some help coming up with potions and poisons, there are some great tools listed on the Alchemy page of UESP.  I think if you could combine Slow with either damage health, damage over time, ravage health, or weakness to poison, that would make for a very useful potion.  Also potions of Fear + DOT would be really sweet.  For players with Hearthfire, picking up the Morthal house (with the fish hatchery) and building the kitchen and garden would allow full potential in terms of food and potion brewing.

tl;dr - Nice build, I'm gonna give it a shot.  Dunno how I managed to ramble for so long. :p

Absolutely agree with you on a lot of that.  As I said in the very beginning, there are a lot of ways to build an ulfsark/ulfhednar/ulfhedinn, and I was really torn (I actually almost went the 2-handed route).  I picked Savior's Hide purely because it IS a wolf-skin. It does sort of 'clash' a little with the helm, but the overall look has grown on me.  That said, the enchantment keeps you from smithing it up at early levels.  When I switched from Stormcloak Officer Armor to Savior's Hide, I lost 11 AP (a lot at level 12).

Playing solo on Master, I can tell you that shields + elemental protection are kind of an unfortunate necessity for an assassin/warrior to take on dragons and dragon priests unless you plan on drowning yourself in healing and magic-resistance potions (which is a viable option, I suppose; I just hate excessive crafting).  Going with a shield was partially an aesthetic choice on my part as well (Vikings carry shields, and he's a viking), but a battle-axe would make a good spear replacement, as these guys are supposed to carry spears, if you plan on avoiding dragons or spending hours on alchemy.

Glad you like it, and tell me what you try with him.  I'm still kind of modifying the build as I run into things.

I tend to play on either Expert or Adept, and I've had success without blocking on those difficulties.  But yeah, for a DID/Master playthrough, the shield is pretty much essential.  I tend to value aesthetics over practicality when possible, and I'm just not a fan of the way shields end to look, especially with light armor.  Mostly I think it's just that you can't put your shield on your back outside of combat...  It looks so weird keeping it on your wrist as you run about town.

And yeah, spending too much time crafting foods/potions can grow tedious, but I think it's pretty convient if you use the Morthal house.  Food especially should be pretty do-able even at low levels, since it isn't governed by any skills/perks AFAIK. That ought to also help counteract the lack of a shield for my adaptation.  I'll be sure to report back once I've given it some time. :D

Apparently, you don't even have to join a faction: he'll wear the armor of whichever side you picked in Helgen.  Though once you join a faction, that will override the choice you made in Helgen; e.g., if you sided with Ralof in Helgen, but join the Imperials before visiting Forelhost, he'll have Imperial gear.

Another Norse build, cool! (You should check out mine too: The Viking )

I like it, as I am looking for builds that don't have a lot of craft grinding and alchemy fit naturally with this one.
