Wish there was more armor variety in this game and we could achieve a look like that first pic. Really cool stuff and really cool concept. Those off-the-beaten-path role-play experiences like this town guard type here always end up so fun for me; one of my all-time favorite playthroughs was a Khajiit caravan merchant. I beat the crap out of that Uthgerd chick in Whiterun right off the bat so I could essentially use her as my hired merc bodyguard, found myself a dog, and there was my travelling caravan. I didn't even bother with quests; I just traversed the icy tundra in my fur armor looking for goods, then travelled from city to city selling them, dressed in my finest wares. It was so fun (and relaxing) lol. Anyway, good stuff! I could see a random dragon attack on your little town being like the ultimate experience for this guy. I'll never forget my first random dragon city attack - it was Riverwood and the blacksmith's wife ended up getting killed. Everyone was crowded around and I raised her from the dead so he could say goodbye and the whole thing was just really weird and surreal, especially for a videogame lol. Would have really hit home if I was playing this build!

Just thought I'd point out that the Dawnguard Heavy Armor and helmet make a pretty damn good look for this guy if you want something similar to that first pic.
