And we all know how Fate loves its genderswaps...not that I'm complaining. More waifu material for me. And Husbando material for those into men. And then you have Astolfo...and Chevalier d'Eon. I mean, at least both had reasons to dress like that. Astolfo to stop his uncle, and fellow Paladin Roland from running around on a naked rampage, and d'Eon for spying purposes

They can go a bit too far with it. Like I think it works really well for Saber (which one am I talking about, who could guess :P) and Nero is absolutely fabulous so who am I to complain, but when it starts to feel like there might be more genderswapped Heroes than normal ones it gets a bit overwhelming. Course that's mostly because there's roughly a thousand Artorias so, that kind of changes everything. Though yeah there are those I can get behind, Da Vinci and Enkidu being a bit ambigious makes a fair amount of sense, and d'Eon does as well.

But I won't say how often I'll use the trope :P I've thought of a very select few, but I'm going to contain it a bit better than Fate did. I'm not throwing around waifu-bait here, so I really don't need to do it all that often.

I thought you'd do Jagar, but sweet. Glad to hear that

Also, him as a Dual Summon....interesting. I just went over this and yeah, you hit the nail on the head. Wonder whose next....

I'll give you a hint. I say it in the Closing Notes :P But yeah the Double Summon was the starting point and everything just sort of fell into place from there. It guided the focus towards the idea of 'The Imperial Battlemage' being the focal point for the entire guide. Course it helped that it led to me giving him the magical version of Imperial Privilege which makes him super badass (Just imagine a Caster with Mana Burst and a Sword, with decent enough parameters to use them :P). The next dude might be more powerful but a bit more simple, 1 Class Skill, 2 Personal Skills and a single Noble Phantasm with two powers.

I'd make a joke about Merlin, but unlike him, I don't think Tharny here is into giving chicks dicks, trolling others, or to summon him you'd need a lot of Futa porn as a catalyst....

Fair point. Though, Da Vinci DOES get a pass as she WAS male in life, she apparently chose to be summoned as a woman based off of the Mona Lisa, the apex of beauty. Though, I do recall this one comic, I can't recall if it was a fan comic or one of the learning with manga ones, wherein Gudako drags poor Da Vinci off to one of the Servants to prove she "has one", which I can only guess means a dick.

    Also, imagine VR FGO

You joke, but in a roundabout way you make a solid point...kinda. Hmm, gotta thing on the fact that there's no Merlin (unless you count Sheogorath) and I'm going to try and avoid any of Saber's Fate History being replicated :P

Yeah, I mean, I DID put Arturia (To me, it shall always be Arturia), in for a build, and I'm trying to make builds based off both her Lancer versions, but ces't la vie.

Yeah, I mean, you have Faolan, who is basically King Arthur, or at least, a pre-Romanized Britain version of Arthur, yet no Merlin reference?

I can't even figure out how you'd handle Lancer's NP. I mean arguably Rhongomyniad should make Excalibur seem like a piece of toast in comparison. Excalibur is riddiculous, and sealed so we never see it's true strength, but Rhongomyniad in it's true form is one of the only weapons that would reasonably stand up to EA in terms of it's sheer power (Karna's Spear is probably another). Course base Rhongomyniad is weaker than Excalibur, but yeah.

And hey, Artoria is at least a hell of a lot better than Altria, so you know :P

Especially as, being divine weapons, and in Karna's spear, not fully part of his legend, as I recall him dying via Arjuna before he could use it, Gil doesn't have a copy. And yeah, true. The only time we ever see what could be Excalibur's true strength is with Arthur, and he has to unlock the seals. Then again, I feel sorry for Arthir, as HIS Merlin was female (Though what's funny is that older legends have Merlin have, if memory serves, a twin sister), and Mordred is a yandere.

And yeah, same here. With Lancer Alter, I could use something like a mixture of Elemental Fury and either Storm Call or Cyclone, but that's just me. As for Goddess Rhongomyniad, I'm still thinking how to do the giant "Fuck-You-Death-Spear" that only Arash (Who I'm also doing a build on), and Mash could deflect

Ah, I follow ref the "intricate reasons he's probably a bit different as a 'Heroic Spirit'" thing, and to be honest I'm not convinced it doesn't work pretty much exactly like that anyway. When we see visions of the past or ancient spirits it's often the case that they look very modern. Yeah, normally it's an asset issue that a millenia-old spirit is wearing exactly the same robe as the mage in the pub, but lore-wise I like to think there's more to it. Like, Gormlaith Golden-Hilt wears that armour because we expect her to, or Feldir the Old looking old to us because we expect it but historically was given that name ironically because as a young man he went grey before his time... That sort of thing. So yeah, I can buy the idea. But Alessia as a male Orc? Tharn would be outraged and immediately rescind your Imperial stipend for even thinking such blasphemous thoughts :p The Merlin discussion is interesting, guys. It's weird because Skyrim has those archetypal figures in abundance with the likes of Shalidor, Gaulder, Feldir the Old-Before-His-Time etc.

Fair point, I mean, it would be FAR more likely for Gormlaith to use Ancient Nord armor, also, Feldir actually went grey before he reached the usual greying age? Interesting.

But yeah, Merlin, in Fate, is still half-incubus, and what's interesting is that, well, he sees himself as inhuman. He DOES give a damn about humanity, but can only feel things by absorbing emotions via dreams and shit. Oh yeah, and he's also a massive horndog and troll. Like, imagine if Sheogorath and Sanguine had a kid that became a wizard, and went about fucking primarily women, and also messing about with humans, like say, turning a noble's hair vibrant green or something

Also, I might try and do a lore article on the Arthurian connections between Faolan and Arthur
