If Peryite truly is the shadow of Aka would that also not put him in the running as Ur-Dra?

If we look at exactly what is? then it becomes a little easier, Darkness is the absence of light, where the Void is nothing, based on this philosophy Namira becomes the Ur- Dra, any other theories?

I agree with Bonelord in that I think Namira is the Ur-Dra because she is worshipped as just that and it makes more sense and is more compelling than Nocturnal imo.

As for other theories, well it depends on what Ur-Dra truly means. If it's First Daedra or Orginal Daedra then it depends on when some of these beings were made. Usually people see it as an aspect of the void since it came first but that's not necessarily true, there would have to be a dream before there could be a void. And if there is a dream then wouldn't there be a Vaermina?

Also the usual story goes that AKA was the first of all things and the others didn't start becoming sentient until after him. So does that mean Peryite, being Aka's shadow was the first of the Daedra to be born?

Yeah and the only reason Nocturnal is called the Ur-Dra is she claims she is. But so does Herma Mora.

    Not quite the only reason.

Nocturnal is accorded the title Ur-dra by nearly all the Royalty of Oblivion.

So it seems like most of the Princes agree that Nocturnal is eldest. Mora might just be one of the few that doesn't.

Conjecture points to some machinations of Nocturnal, who took on her mantle of Ur-Dra of Oblivion, and it was by her primogeniture that Reman was able to pursue his cosmic acquisitions without further censure.

Primogeniture is the status as firstborn and, in this case, the power that comes with it. Nocturnal's status alone was enough to allow Reman Cyrodiil safe passage through Oblivion.

I'm not saying it's a sure thing. TES lore is always muddy especially when it involves stuff like linear time, order of events, and stuff like that. But there is more evidence for Nocturnal being the Ur-Dra than just her word alone.

I actually saw someone put forth the idea that Nocturnal stole the title. Might be some truth to that, who knows?
