Is Kynareth Akatosh?

Then you are welcome. To be fair this document may not be entirely MK's work. It is a design document from the early stages of Skyrim's development that technically we were probably not meant to see.

The subject of Kirkbride is always a devisive one, but for the sake of completeness here is a list of the in game works he has written. There must be something there you like...?

You know, I grew up on Oblivion Lore, and I always liked that to them, Akatosh is Alduin, the end of times.

So, it somewhat makes sense that Kyne fulfills the role Akatosh has in Imperial belief no? For Nords it's all Kyne, Talos and Alduin. The beginning, the ascension and the end. At least, that's how I perceived it for very long time until Skyrim screwed it up.

Well, Kyne obviously has no connection with Time. What else?

See, this is interesting. Depending on how you view Meridia/Kyne connection may influence your thoughts here too.

If we look at this in a wider perspective, it must change a lot. From such a mundane thing as the place of a woman in the Nordic society (since Kyne is Shor's widow and so on), to the Nords' view of Kyne's sphere, the nature (as it becomes the main aspect of their pantheon) which influences their general worldview and subsequently their way of life.

Good thoughts. How does it, or does it at all, change the way you may see the Greybeards? I mean, their views are very Imperialised what with their use of the names Kynareth and Akatosh. By switching Kyne to Akatosh they are making quite a political statement - gone is this formidable warrior goddess who gave the Nords their greatest weapon, replaced by this wise and benevolent God of endurance. If we think in terms of cultural shift in attitudes, Jurgen and his Way of the Voice has neutered the Nordic race. Thanks Paarthurnax.

So in terms of role playing as a staunch Stormcloak supporter who believes Ulfric "has the right of it" (coz let's face it Thorien, we all know you secretly do ), is it not a wee bit hypocritical to let that Dragon live and side with the Greybeards? In terms of what they represent, it is about as far from Ulfric's views as you can get...

Well said  We can say that Kyne isn't time, but if she gave the Nords life at the beginning and is their Kiss At The End, how can she not represent a cycle of time?

The connection between Meridia and Kyne lays with magic and souls. How does this overlap with Akatosh's sphere?

First of all, I don't really think it has anything to do with Paarthurnax, more like this shift in attitude stems from the fact that the Greybeards, before becoming such, grew up in this modern version of Skyrim where Nords worship the Imperial Eight instead of their old pantheon.

Second, is that really a bad thing?

So in terms of role playing as a staunch Stormcloak supporter who believes Ulfric "has the right of it"

Lol)) Actually I openly say that I support Ulfric. This idiot is exactly what the Thalmor need to take over Skyrim. Make him the High King and while he drinks his brains off in joy of being king, the Thalmor can do anything right under his nose. So, all hail King Ulfric, long may he reign)))))

Yeah, Nords seem to me like guys who are all about "beggining and end" Ragnarok and Alduin that. So I kinda missed some line in Skyrim which would say: "See, stupid Imperials? Your Dragon God is here to eat us all. We told ya."

What about a non-traditional Imperial raised in Nordic tradition? Imperial race doesn't necessarily mean Imperial culture. Watch a Dunmer become a Greybeard and then shout down Ulfric, starting another war. Skyrim is just going to be stuck in wars started by people abusing the Voice.

...an Altmer Thalmor spy becoming a Greybeard to learn the secrets of the Thu'um... etc, etc.

Haha, that made me smile. Nords'll never know what hit 'em.

The more I think about this, the more I'm just like no about this.

Otherwise the lore section will just be one giant article on

All the things you ever wanted to know about AkylormoralosAMLSIVIMichaelKirbrideCODAAll-maker Dagon the Man-Bull, who had a giant spear and slept with Molag Bal, but were afraid to ask.

I should write this lore article.

Don't forget to mention that Pelly was a bastard son of Talos (not the other way around!))))
