Redguards and Magic

  • October 18, 2015

    A minor update.

For those who like some in-game representation, there are a couple of magic using/arcane related Redguards in Oblivion: Jalbert (necromancer from Daggerfall), Eletta (guild mage), Jearl (Mythic Dawn agent), Carmen Litte (married to a Breton guild mage so that implies acceptance), Trevaia (priestess), Chanel (court mage), Oleta (healer), Cirroc (healer), Delmar (master enchanter for the Arcane University), Kinther (healer), Stanet (healer), and Azani Blackheart (nightblade). There are some generic Daedra worshipers (about five, I think) too but I am not sure of the extent to which they would use magic.

There are a few in Skyrim too: Niyya (the woman imprisoned by that insane Dunmer on Solstheim), Haldyn (mage), Atmah (deceased college member), Yisra (deceased college member), Namasur (vampire mage), Maramal (priest), Ahlam (priestess), Lu'ah al-Skaven (necromancer), and Anwen (priestess).

This is a really good article and is pretty much exactly my interpretation of how the Redguards see magic. I don't have any evidence for this but I like to think that Redguards don't see their magic as actually magic and instead see it something more akin to miracles or blessings in the same way real life religions see miracles as separate from magic or witchcraft.
