The Umbriel Spawn's tribe of Argonians flourished in an area of Black Marsh even more secluded than the rest of the province. How they got there is a mystery, but some say they were attacked with fitful dreams, dreams of a new life, for their families, and all Argonians. This small group of visionaries is said to have set out on an expedition deep into the swamps of Argonia. There, they found their new home, a grove of Umbriel-Hist, that had fallen from the floating city itself. The fifteen or so that had survived the journey took up their homes there, in the vicious swamp.

Just like other Argonians, this tribe took to ingesting the Hist sap. This sap, because of its different origins, gave different properties, and instead of enhancing their prowess in battle, enhanced their abilities of restoring and maintaining their health. As such, most members of the tribe are proficient in schools like Alteration and Restoration. However, there was a dark side to the benefits. This sap, the product of Oblivion, was greatly addictive, so much so that the older members of the tribe could not live more than a day without it.

The tribe could not survive in the dangerous swamps with just healing spells, though, and so they also took up the craft of archery, fashioning bows from the bones of the vicious beasts they had slayed. Because of their small numbers and dangerous locale, even the youngest of the tribesmen are at least semi-proficient in archery, able to pull back the drawstring of a hunting bow by the time they were ten.

Recently, the tribe has been in turmoil. The beasts around them seem stronger, and their territory shrinking. After communing with the Hist, they reached a possible solution. One of the tree's brethren had been separated when the seeds fell from their home city, and lay in the plains of Whiterun. The addictive properties of the sap meant that only a young Argonian could be sent to make contact with the long-lost Hist. Little did they know of the tree's dangerous guardians, or exactly how much the young Argonian had to learn.

    Race: Argonian

Stone: Atronach for that sweet sweet magicka, and the possibility to absorb our singular summon the Flaming Familiar

Skills: Archery, Alchemy, Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion & Sneak

Stat Spread: Magicka 1Health 2Stamina 1 for a more durable character or Magicka 2Health 2/Stamina 1 for those who like to be able to cast more spells

Equipment: The only mandatory equipment is the Necromancer's Amulet and the Ring of Namira, everything else is up to the player.

Spells: Bound Bow, Whirlwind Cloak, Ash Rune, Flesh Spells, Flaming Familiar & Muffle

Shouts: Slow Time, Unrelenting Force and Whirlwind Sprint.

Combat for the Spawn starts with casting his most powerful flesh-spell and in later levels whirlwind cloak. Should he feel the need to he is also capable of casting Ash Rune, which is placed at his feet as a final line of defense. He then turns to casting a flaming familiar and his bound bow. The familiar should run towards his foes and blast some of the weaker ones from the picture. Any foes that remain standing become easy prey to his arrows and those that manage to close the distance will either be sent flying by his whirlwind cloak or encased in ash when they trigger his rune.

Now the Umbriel Spawn has at his disposal any potions and poisons that he has crafted to help take down his foes. What these are is ultimately up to you as the player, it really just comes down to what effects you prefer to use and find most useful. A couple of suggestions are poisons of lingering damage or poisons of slow, which should only be used on enemies that are far away as the effect will be cancelled by a change in animation.

The Umbriel Spawn was born with the ability to use the magic of the Dragons. The Thu'um. While he could use it for any number of things, he prefers to utilize shouts that allow him to create distance between himself and whatever's trying to kill him. Whether it be using Unrelenting force to knock back those that get to close or Whirlwind sprint to reposition. Slow Time is another shout that he finds use for, being able to slow the movement of his opponents both allowing him to keep out of their reach and to pepper them with arrows without them being able to react.

When he is feeling more aggressive the Umbriel Spawn is able to bash the faces of his foes in with his bow. This will take a little practice to pull off but it can be done. To do so you will need to draw an arrow and immediately sheath it and tap bash. This should lead to you bashing for the same amount of damage as firing an arrow. For more info see Alistor's Advanced Archery Corner.

Shout Preparation - Unrelenting Arrow: Bow + Unrelenting Force

    1. Equip your Shout
    2. Ready an arrow but don't fire it yet
    3. Activate the Shout
    4. Release the arrow
    5. The Shout will instantly trigger after about 1-2 seconds

By aiming an arrow and using a shout before releasing, the Umbriel Spawn can prepare a shout to be used as soon as the arrow is fired. This generally works best with one word shouts, and can unleash a double stagger effect when combined with the Power Shot perk.

Shout Preparation - Fire and Run: Bow + Whirlwind Sprint

Like the Unrelenting Arrow, with this attack the Umbriel Spawn can combine an arrow with a shout to create an interesting effect. When combined with Whirlwind Sprint, this allows him to move across the field at a rapid pace.

Explosive DecoyAsh Rune + Flaming Familiar

By summoning a flaming familiar on top of our ash rune, we are left with an indestructible decoy that at the end of its duration explodes in a fiery ball.

The Umbriel Spawn is capable of generating a decoy, which he uses to keep foes detracted while he rains arrows down upon them. When the decoy expires it and anything surrounding it are engulfed in flames.

    Into Skyrim

Our character is a fresh faced warrior, well, as fresh faced as someone from his tribe can get, and so doesn’t have the experience of the more competent fighters.

The tribe’s isolation has let them develop a small, fragile body which isn’t used to the inevitable battering that is commonly received in Skyrim. This could also explain the use of bows and defensive magic, they need to stay away and buff themselves up as much as possible. Also, worshiping and defending trees all day everyday doesn’t leave a lot of time for personal fitness.

    The Napoleon Complex

His tribe has a bit of a Napoleon Complex. They almost certainly feel above the other Argonians, who’s Hist is a bit naff in comparison to their own, and will probably not have many positive interactions with them. That said, other races don’t even follow the Hist, so this guy isn’t gonna be a laugh all round. However, as he is young, this could be offset a bit, it you’re desperate to play a jovial Argonian.

    The Mission

Just in case you didn’t get it from the previous section, this guy is not the type to interview people. As a result, alternative methods of information extraction needs to be taken

Interrogation. Surely anyone who has information on the missing Hist Tree would be happy to give it up, right? If just being strapped to the chair isn’t enough, an arrow to the knee might loosen a few tongues. This can be done by breaking into people’s homes at night, and asking them a few questions in your head. Make a few human pincushions every now and then to show that some people might not be as obedient as others.

Stealing. Living in a secluded camp in the middle of nowhere, sharing is most definitely caring. As a result, our character wouldn’t feel that there’s anything wrong with borrowing a book or two that might point to the Hist’s whereabouts. Or this guy simply doesn’t give a damn about stealing, its your choice.

Exploring. As the Sleeping Tree isn’t hard to find, try to limit exploring so you don’t find it straight away. But as the character isn’t adjusted to civilized life, at least the type found in Skyrim, being out of the cities and into the wilderness should be the first thing on the character’s mind.

    Hist Sap

It won’t be surprising to hear that Hist Sap is addictive, and as the tribe has nothing else to do but suck the stuff down, its very probable that our character will become a junkie, but as he’s young, he won't have tried it back home yet.

After rescuing the Sleeping Tree, have a little sip as a reward/ initiation ceremony, he’s finally completed his mission, and has grown into a man because of it. After and/ or before every big fight after, have another swig. This will soon turn into an addiction, and after a while drinking the sap will be a daily occurrence.

As getting our scaly mitts on Sleeping Tree Sap is difficult in the game, especially without using duplication glitches, using the White Phial is recommended. The sap we collect from the Tree is unrefined, which results in the blurred vision and slowness. Bunging it in the Phial refines it into the real deal, the drug which will define, not hinder, our character. It could also be interpreted that after you gain the Phial, the character gains a tolerance to the sap, like an initiation.

    Quests:

The White Phial + Repairing the White Phial, Blood on the Ice, The Taste of Death, A Scroll for Anska, Wind and Sand, Main Quest (at least up until Throat of the World)

Over the course of...well you know I think we're hitting somewhere up in the three month range by now, the team has worked to bring you this (and if I can say so) awesome build. I don't think this build would be here today if it wasn't for every single person on this list, and of course everyone that supported us throughout the build. I've also gotta throw an extra word out to Lissette for personally kicking my but into gear a couple times throughout this things (like 6 times at least).

The ten of us had a lot of fun over the last...well let's not go into details but throughout the course of the Workshop Event, if you'd like to check out the next Workshop Event (which hasn't started yet), then head out over HERE and give it a quick glance (and join, definitely join). Thanks for reading everyone, and of course listening to me ramble here at the end (they wouldn't let me write the build because I ramble too much). Check out everyone's pages down below, most of us have our work on our page so you can check that out.

Took you guys long enough, but I suppose it was worth the wait.

*blushes at mention* Thanks DB.  It is not my intention to butt kick. Now Orc smacks are different...

Congratulations are in order. I have always enjoyed the bound bow as a weapon.

Hey we're only two months overdue  Honestly I'm amazed that all Events I've run haven't ended up like this. I'm glad it was worth the wait Albino

Bah, had to fit you in there somewhere Liss, you'd already done so much to help before you needed to leave the Event

The Bound Bow is hands down my favorite weapon, it's just too awesome so it was cool to see the guys use it for this Event.

It's great :D. I'd like it but you know, one shouldn't like his 'own' builds (not that I did that much anyway).

I know what you mean, I've done more for other people's build before so it's a little weird to not be dropping likes here :)

Still, I have to say I think working on the build might be more thrilling than getting a couple likes (not that I'd complain if, oh you know 5-84 more people liked it :D), it definitely was a lot of fun. Hopefully the next Event will be even more fun
