     The Atom Witch

     Atom Witch [at-um wich].

Class Type: Occult Melee Fighter, Radiation Demon.

Inspired by: Any horror movie monster & Fallout 4's Oswald the Outrageous.

Happy Halloween everyone! WuYiXiang's Noodle Shop are proud to bring you a spooky collaboration build that is guaranteed to sow crippling fear into the heart of any evil doer from the Commonwealth. Sit down, grab a bowl of hot delicious noodles, ignore the fact that I just invited you to eat me and enjoy the read! As a result of being exposed to radiation for more than two hundred years of frozen slumber, the Atom Witch walks the thin line between paranormal and your day-to-day psychotic anti-hero. Radiation affects everyone differently and in the right conditions, who knows what abilities one might gain? Just take a look at Nuka World's Oswald the Outrageous! Wu and I wanted to create a monster taken straight out of a horror movie, a boogeyman of the Commonwealth, a radiation "witch" that pushes the limits of what is considered normal straight into the supernatural. Imagine you're a scumbag raider listening to RedEye on the radio at night in a ruined flat appartment from Lexington. Suddenly the lights flicker and the radio alternates between voice and static. You start feeling sick, coughing blood, as if you're suffering from radiation poisoning. Stumbling in a hurry, you reach your chem stash, open it and out of panic accidentally spill everything on the floor. Being desperate, you fall on your knees and search for Rad-X with shaking hands. You find it and inject some in the arm. You start feeling better and as your strength returns, you get up back on your feet. Lights flicker more frequently with each pulse and there's only static coming from the radio. Standing still on the other side of the room across from you is the shadowy silhoutte of a woman, glowing green eyes, holding a gruesomely shaped blade with blood dripping off of it. Frightened, you pull out your gun and start firing. As the bullets pierce her body, she doesn't move a muscle, not even blink. The green eyes are still there, dreadfully watching. As you empty an entire ammo magazine on her, you turn around and start running for the window. But it's too late. The light flickers one more time and she's standing right in front of you. Like a blitz her blade stabs you in the chest and teeth sink into your neck.

     Backstory

Some folks in the Commonwealth say that Vault 111 is cursed. All of its test subjects were meant to be kept in cryo stasis for who knows how long. Most of the staff and scientists ended up dead with little to be known about how. A man was mysteriously murdered while still iced. A frozen infant put to sleep for more than a hundred years was abducted by the Institute. And to top it all, a malfunction in the vault's systems caused its air filters to let in radioactive dust from outside, dooming all the sleepers to a slow death. But no, that's not the most haunting thing to come out of that place, literally. A while back some scavvers found the the vault's entrance unsealed. They proceeded to loot the place and found all the people dead. But the chilling thing is, they also stumbled upon an empty unlocked cryo pod. Radiation can do strange things to the living, growing scorpions into monstrous beasts, turning people into immortal ghouls. There's even some talk about a creature in Nuka World able to perform actual magic! It seems impossible but it's out there! Who knows what slowly being irradiated on ice for some two hundred years can do to you?

     Gameplay

Wu and I wanted to create a character build which respects the themes of witchcraft and radiation, much inspired by Oswald the Outrageous. We made the Atom Witch a ghoulish cannibalistic melee fighter enhanced by Blitz and chems (Buffout, Psycho, Jet) who also occasionally uses a Gamma Gun. In common folklore witches are known for performing various sacrificial rituals and the one iconic item always present is a blade or a melee weapon of sorts to do the cutting. Furthermore these occult beings are always depicpted as having a great understanding of poisons, cures or chemical enhancers. In Fallout we know these as chems. In addition to all this, Wu and I both applied our own different touch to the witch. She settled for incorporating all these ideas into a stealthy gameplay. It's awesome because in horror movies you never see the boogeyman coming. I on the other hand went for a more brutal approach. I just could not play a Halloween build without the assistance of a resilent mindless minion, Strong! In conclusion this build can be played either as a shadow demon or a hellish juggernaut.

    Witchcraft

Perks: Night Person, Toughness, Life Giver, Chem Resistant, Cannibal, Ghoulish, Medic, Chemist, Blitz.

Tools: Chems (Buffout, Jet, Psycho, Stimpack and any combination of these).

Description: Chems, toughness and cannibalism, these are the traits that most witches share in folklore. Any chem is welcomed be it to reduce incoming damage, slow down time, increase self damage output or restore health. Of course, chem combinations like PsychoJet or Bufftats are nice to have too. Because of the fact that the Atom Witch gives into cannibalism after every fight, she'll always have stimpacks in large numbers which in turn leads to even more survivality. Ghoulish is also nice because it offers a "supernatural" benefit to being irradiated. All this said, Blitz is clearly the best perk a melee character can have. Not only does it provide life saving opportunities but it is also thematically fitting for a monster. Just think of how many times you've witnessed in horror movies a demon instantly jumping from place to place while the lights flicker.

    Melee Combat

Perks: Iron Fist OR Big Leagues, Blacksmith, Rooted, Action Girl, Bloody Mess.

Tools: Bloody Mary (Pickman's Blade => Kremvh's Tooth => Disciples Blade OR Deathclaw Gauntlet).

Description: When it came to melee combat, Wu and I took different approaches which were more or less the same thing. I opted to use melee weapons while she went down the unarmed road. Basically we spent the same number of points in either Iron Fist or Big Leagues. Apart from this, we made sure the Atom Witch used Blacksmithing to mod her own deadly weapons and basked into the awesome synergy of Rooted Blitz. Seriously, the damage output caused by this combo is amazing! For weapons, I got my hands on Pickman's Blade from the start, at level 15-ish I went after Kremvh's Tooth and as soon as Nuka World became available, I acquired that sweet Disciples Blade. Wu on the other hand started off with some knuckles and quickly worked her way up to the Deathclaw Gauntlet found in the Museum of Witchcraft.

    Radiation Weapons

Perks: Gunslinger, Demolition Expert, Science, (Optional) Nuclear Physicist, Scrounger.

Tools: Banshee (Gamma Gun with Electric Signal Carrier Antennae), (Optional) Fatman.

Description: Anyone who's completed Far Harbor's Children of the Atom initiation quest knows that some serious witchcraft is going on with those guys. The Gamma Gun is their signature weapon so we added it to the Atom Witch's arsenal. This pistol is very nice to have for those times when Blitz just can't get you within melee range of an npc because it does a decent amount of area of effect damage. However, once level three of Science is perked, things get serious. With the help of an Electric Signal Carrier Antennae, a Gamma Gun's damage is greatly boosted. Add in the increase from Gunslinger plus Demolition Expert and a single charged shot is bound to sow death in an entire area! Optionally, a Fatman can be a great addition, preferably the one that launches two nukes at the same time sold by Arturo Rodriguez at the Commonwealth Weaponry in the Diamon City Market.

    Evil Minion OR Stealth

     Perks: Sneak.

Followers OR Tools: Strong (with Atom's Judgement) | Hancock (with Shem Drowne) OR Stealth Boy.

Description: This is where the Atom Witch can be played differently. Trust me, you can't sneak around with a companion like Strong. Both options are fitting for the build. Going down the companion road means taking a tank-ish approach to a fight since the minion mitigates a lot of damage. I can't even begin to count how many times I used Strong as a meat shield against those super mutant kamikazes. The awesome part about Strong is that he appreciates all cannibalistic acts which leads to rapidly acquiring his companion perk. If you don't like him, a very nice alternative to Strong is Hancock. On the other hand, if companions aren't your thing altogether and you prefer to stalk your opponents from the shadows, stealth is the way to go! The game mechanic synergizes very well with Rooted and I gotta' admit, silently terrorizing your opponents is priceless!

I just want to say that Noodles did 90% of the work. I only provided the spark of inspiration and a differeng playstyle. Noodles typed everything up and did all the image editing. Great to see this up, though. :D

Want to say what a great build. Could you perhaps give a level spread? I assume all perks listed are maxed out?
