Look on the bright side, now you have an awesome x mass present. In other news Ive crossed to the na server and started a new argonian character. I will join the guild when I reach level 10.

I wanted to ask a few questions about ESO, and this seemed the best place to do that and get as many opinions as I can. I bought ESO many months ago and haven't played it once (I explored Reaper's March with a friend, on his Xbox) I'm tempted to pick it up with the new Summerset expansion and roleplay a Khajiit thief, wow what a surprise, but I really want to know a few things.

As a fan of Oblivion over Skyrim and Morrowind, how does ESO hold up? If you had to rank it with the four games, where would it fit? I've heard the writing quality is excellent, and also that it has hefty heapings of lore. I've heard that apparently you can explore everywhere and they eventually plan to fill in the entirety of Tamriel. I love the look of both Summerset and Khenarthi's Roost, both of which are currently my favourite locations.

How does the combat hold up? It seems very traditional but with a nicer third-person over-the-shoulder style. How are the classes? What would you recommend a new player do? How would these sorts of things affect your endgame? Can classes use any weapon, and do the different races have visually distinct weapon styles? Can you join the Fighters Guild, or the Dark Brotherhood? (I know very little about the game :D)

What sort of environments are they? Detailed, heavy Bethesda-quality worlds? Or are they simple, boring flat areas for you to fight enemies in? Do the races portray well, and is it visually different from each other? What alliances do you guys recommend, and what races do you like (although mine is already chosen)

How are the characters? Are there any standouts or personal favourites, anybody of Inigo level? As someone who was slightly disappointed with vanilla Skyrim, not modded Skyrim, I preferred Oblivion. Is the writing Oblivion-style, unique and clever with multiple routes? Or is it 'Go to dungeon, kill Draugr, get money'?

Can you play solo-style, as if you were playing Skyrim or Oblivion? Is it easy to roleplay? How do houses work, and are there any you would recommend for a young, handsome Khajiit thief on his favourite island - at least, it looks gorgeous. Khenarthi's Roost, that is. Is the Tamriel Vault guild roleplay-friendly? Are there a wealth of quests, and what DLC are the best? I know of an Imperial City, Summerset, Morrowind, and Orsinium, and none more.

How is the commitment and update schedule? Is it pay-to-win, or can you use in-game gold to buy most stuff? Does it faithfully recreate characters from previous TES games, like Vivec and Sotha Sil, and Almalexia?

Is Cyrodiil fun, and can you explore it solo, by yourself? Are there great wars and awesome movie-worthy battles, or is it more like random people fighting for gold? How does it hold up to the other games?

Overall, how good is ESO? Is it an MMO or more of an Elder Scrolls title? Would you prefer it to _ ?

Lots of questions :D | think the ESO Hosts may have something cooking up as these questions may represent a lot of players' thoughts :)

I can answer a few of these, perhaps.

"As a fan of Oblivion over Skyrim and Morrowind, how does ESO hold up? If you had to rank it with the four games, where would it fit? I've heard the writing quality is excellent, and also that it has hefty heapings of lore. I've heard that apparently you can explore everywhere and they eventually plan to fill in the entirety of Tamriel. I love the look of both Summerset and Khenarthi's Roost, both of which are currently my favourite locations."

I'd say it holds up pretty well. Yes, there's a lot of lore that some people may find very interesting and the locations are really nice.

"How does the combat hold up? It seems very traditional but with a nicer third-person over-the-shoulder style. How are the classes? What would you recommend a new player do? How would these sorts of things affect your endgame? Can classes use any weapon, and do the different races have visually distinct weapon styles? Can you join the Fighters Guild, or the Dark Brotherhood? (I know very little about the game :D)"

Not traditional at all, plays more like an MMO. It's based heavily around using specific tech and spamming abilities rather than mindlessly slashing. The classes are good, which you use depends on your style (I'll leave someone else to describe them in individual detail as I haven't completely played them all). All classes are viable endgame. All classes can use any weapon and races have specific weapon styles that only change the appearance of the weapon and what's required to craft them. You can join some guilds in the base game (Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, and Undaunted (basically dungeon delvers)), while others are locked behind DLC (Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood).

"What sort of environments are they? Detailed, heavy Bethesda-quality worlds? Or are they simple, boring flat areas for you to fight enemies in? Do the races portray well, and is it visually different from each other? What alliances do you guys recommend, and what races do you like (although mine is already chosen)"

The areas look oddly good for an MMO, very nicely detailed that tell you a large amount about where you are, especially in Vvardenfell. Races are as visually different as you can imagine. Alliance doesn't matter, actually. You can just basically walk into another alliances's zone and do quests, it just changes your starting location, the place you go to main quests for, and which faction you fight for in PVP.

"How are the characters? Are there any standouts or personal favourites, anybody of Inigo level? As someone who was slightly disappointed with vanilla Skyrim, not modded Skyrim, I preferred Oblivion. Is the writing Oblivion-style, unique and clever with multiple routes? Or is it 'Go to dungeon, kill Draugr, get money'?"

There's a few halfway decent characters in the game, mostly those that appear in quests all around a faction's area and the main quest characters are awesome. As for if there's an Inigo-level character... normally I'd say that's impossible as its never existed in any TES game to date... but there's Cadwell which is just as awesome as Inigo and I still love him more.

"Can you play solo-style, as if you were playing Skyrim or Oblivion? Is it easy to roleplay? How do houses work, and are there any you would recommend for a young, handsome Khajiit thief on his favourite island - at least, it looks gorgeous. Khenarthi's Roost, that is. Is the Tamriel Vault guild roleplay-friendly? Are there a wealth of quests, and what DLC are the best? I know of an Imperial City, Summerset, Morrowind, and Orsinium, and none more."

I always say ESO is more like a singleplayer game with MMO elements than an actual MMO, so you need worry not about playing solo. As for roleplay, I haven't really tried it but perhaps try not to heavily affect build viability through roleplay unless you plan only on doing singleplayer stuff as you'll be a burden to any dungeon group. Houses are basically "buy it with heavy amount of gold, get an empty house, then craft or buy furniture to throw in it".

"How is the commitment and update schedule? Is it pay-to-win, or can you use in-game gold to buy most stuff? Does it faithfully recreate characters from previous TES games, like Vivec and Sotha Sil, and Almalexia?"

Not pay to win at all. The only gameplay enhancing stuff you get is experience scrolls and potions, the former of which just level you faster so no real enhancement in combat and the potions pale in comparison to what a master alchemist player can make (coming from a master alchemist). Most of the shit you get from crowns is visual, such as skins and costumes. The game recreates old characters rather well, but you must remember few exist. I think the Tribunal are the only reoccuring characters from the other games becuase they're gods and ESO happens 800 years before the events of Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion and 1000 years before Skyrim.

"Is Cyrodiil fun, and can you explore it solo, by yourself? Are there great wars and awesome movie-worthy battles, or is it more like random people fighting for gold? How does it hold up to the other games?"

I personally don't like the PVP, but I know a lot of people that absolutely love it. Whenever I need to explore it, whether for Skyshards or quests, I just hop on my Nightblade or grab a few invisibility potions so I can stay undetected while I traverse the world. You can't really compare it to other games since ESO is the only one to have PVP.

"Overall, how good is ESO? Is it an MMO or more of an Elder Scrolls title? Would you prefer it to _ ?"

As I said, it's more of a singleplayer game with MMO elements than an actual MMO. It feels like a TES game, not WOW.

All nice to hear Paws, yes ESO is really cool for roleplay in real time, also I agree is full of lore, and the game it self respect lore and fans. I remember some really nice times sometimes join with some people I meet on a tavern around fire and simple roleplaying, talk stories, talk about the past event or fight, quest, etc. I had a main character his name is Baal Darkforge (xP), an Imperial, thinking in fan fiction story, seems he is an ancestor of Stentius Thereno, an evil (gray) but interesting character on a TES fan story I'm making, the buid was a kind of heavy armored (tank) warlock, was really fun on PvP. always when was time for siege walls, I put him in front, no one could beat him, resisting a lot of damage, hehe. I made him as a kind of fat Imperial some bully maybe xP, but also a nice person.

Here is a pic... playing drum

I dunno what it means. I got this.

    Elder Scrolls Online: Collection

Because it says I can't have it until december, but it then contradicts itself. So I'm confused. If smart ESO person can answer, I shall be grateful and Fat Khajiit may soon roam Tamriel, buying houses, collecting ingredients and spreading the joy of healing to the DPS obsessed PS4 community. Apparently, not a lot of healers in PS4.

Long-Chapper, it seems that the version of the game you have pre-purchased is everything that Bethesda has come out with and is coming out with in the next several months. That seems to be the reason for the 12/31/2018 release. To fast track your way in, I would have suggested getting the “Gold” Edition, and then ESO Plus membership. You would get everything anyway. That being said, I have no idea how the PS4 download rates are or why there is such a delay on that particular package. It could mean that not all the content you have purchased will be available until then. However you should be able to play what is currently available...

Does anyone else think that ESO: Summerset has gorgeous architecture? I get it's not 'Soaring, impossibly high towers made of dragon wings' but we need to remember that this is a game first and foremost, and Zenimax have to do their best to create something beautiful while sticking to the lore while retaining a console friendly amount of items on screen and textures and soforth. I can understand why people are upset but in my opinion ZOS has done a better job with the ESO lore, simply by watching a few ESO videos, than BGS did with Skyrim. The writing in ESO also seems to be of a stellar level, and in all honesty, BGS pulled this same shit with Cyrodiil being a forest in TES: Oblivion instead of a jungle. And in all honesty, I'm actually happier with this sort of architecture: It reminds me of Toussiant from The Witcher 3.

Also, would anyone else be surprised if ESO turns out outliving Elder Scrolls Six at this rate? They've still got so much content left to do if the rumours are true and they want every Daedric Realm as well as every province and all the other oddities like the Clockwork City.

There's a reason people are mad about that in ESO. Cyrodiil was originally a jungle but Tiber Septim used his CHIM powers to make it disappear and become the plains and hills we know today. In Oblivion, it makes sense because it happens long after Talos's campagins, but ESO happens in the year 2E 582 (or somewhere around there), and Tiber Septim wasn't born until 2E 828. Tiber Septim is born over 200 years after the Planemeld starts and ends. Cyrodiil should be a jungle because the timeline says so.

I'm honestly of the mind that ZOS was just lazy and decided to keep Cyrodiil as it was in Oblivion, but I've just accepted the theory that CHIM Talos just eliminated the entire forest from existence so I don't think too much on it.
