Returning To ESO

So work, girlfriend, and family life have been in constant flux lately (I fell into a career, I may be engaged in the heat year, and oh gosh my tribe is close knit and needy) for the last several months, and things are finally- Finally!- stabilizing enough for me to lose some time in an MMO without it negatively affecting my life. I’ve been mulling ESO about in my head and come up with some character ideas:

-A poison-using Orc craftsman who travels to find perfect materials for his art. A selfish and dedicated character who lacks social graces, but is endlessly loyal to his friends regardless of how loudly he complains.

-A proud Dunmer Dragon Knight-Errant who wanders the roads looking for adventure. Selfless and giving, he’s the sort who jumps into situations because he believes in doing right...And sometimes jumps in without considering the fall.

-A tired Breton Healer who moonlights as a thieving, Nocturnal-worshipping Vampire. He openly operates a free night clinic for the poor, but on his off-evenings he can be found hopping rooftops or pulling arrows from rogues on the run...For the kind of price that keeps his clinic running and his life luxurious.

-A Redguard from the Ash’Abah on a pilgrimage to grow closer to his own gods. I am flagrantly using this as an excuse to learn Redguard Lore. What are your thoughts? Are these doable in-game? Do they sound fun? Is RP a thing in ESO on the NA server? Y'all got any guilds laying around?

I'm pleased to hear things are smoothing out for you. Briefly those are good concepts, the Orc is a certainty, as are Redguard and Dunmer. Not sure about the Breton - Setting up a clinic is the hard part. You could get a free room in a local inn and do it up as if it were a shop, that would actually be quite creative. As questing is important in making money, I think you could have a lot of fun with any of those character concepts. RP is a definite too, the only obstacle is other players and the follow the herd sort of outlook that is hard to break at first. Like, you see everyone in a mad rush and if you don't keep your feet you'll be running everywhere and missing all the good moral choices in dialogue, all the pretty visuals, and basically all the nuance.

Like when I drunk-charge through Skyrim or Fallout 4 on a pure Rage ’n Melee character just to make enemies fly through the sky! Yes, that’s it’s own sort of fun, but a new Bethesda Sandbox just HAS to be chock full of tasty lore to examine.

Ha! True. I suppose ESO encourages that as most quests involve a large degree of slaughter. It's just pacing and holding in the homicide until the appropriate moment. Seeing as how enemies respawn very quickly, once that moment arrives you can stay in it until your heart is content :D Guilds... I haven't done much guild activity to he honest. I am in five guilds but mostly just use the bank and store. I play ESO a lot like Skyrim in that it's the story and setting which keep me in the game, but running group dungeons is becoming more frequent. Mostly for the story. And the loot. But yes to the lore. Loads of it. In loading screens, dialogue, setting details etc.

I ended up running the Redguard Templar to start out in Morrowind, which helps me feel like a stranger in a strange land. As a Stamplar, he’s quick with his blades and bow, the practical weapons of a traveler, but wielding an arcane edge with a conjured spear of light and magical healing. It feels a lot like how someone from a warrior culture would arm themselves with magic as an augment to their martial prowess, and I’m enjoying it greatly.

That's great, I like the thought process and that you're having fun. Has RP been challenging at all? I'd be keen to see how the Morrowind MQ influences his or her beliefs, if at all. So please keep us updated on the journey here :)
