I've noticed that we've had an increasing number of members playing ESO; I swear it was me that noticed and not just Phil pointing it out out to me... and after a very shallow search I realised we might not have a place for members to post about their characters so I've decided to rectify that. 

While ESO is an mmo there's nothing stopping us from playing most of the content solo and this opens up similar oportunities to a single player game: we can create intricate backstories for our characters if we so choose, we can roleplay as them alone or with others (sometimes for money), we can also just focus on the gameplay if that is what we prefer, or any combination of these elements. And let's not forget that half the fun is sharing our experiences in one form or another; this site is built on that, so if you have a character you particularly enjoy why not take the time to tell us about them below? Then once you're done telling us about them why not pop in every now and then to tell us about some of your favourite moments from playing them?

I'll probably start us off in a moment unless someone manages to get in before me :D

Well I said I'd start us off so here goes. My favourite player character has to be Korysha my Altmer Warden; who if you've been on the site for any length of time you've probably seen me post drawings of, she's the character I've had for the second longest having been created back when the Morrowind Chapter was released.

These screenshots were taken awhile ago, so her outfit has changed since then.

Prior to the events of ESO Korysha; or Kory, spent several decades travelling Tamriel and just generally enjoying a break from some of the stricter parts of Altmer society. Always by her side has been Stan her loyal magic-infused bear; who she found as a cub when she herself was a child. Unlike her older sister Vallysha; who I may talk about at another time, Kory can tend to be more strict especially when it comes to keeping in touch with their father. In her travels she has found herself thoroughly enjoying the festivities of the shorter lived races; especially those which would be frowned upon back in the Isles, and makes a point of attending the most fun festivals in the following years.

Since the start of ESO's events Kory has found herself serving Queen Ayrenn and wrapped up in a number of Daedric plots, something she hopes comes to an end some time soon. After several decades apart she has recently run into Vallysha which was followed by a week of sharing outlandish stories and lots of Vallysha drinking Kory's supply of both cheap and fine wines. In between stories Kory did her best to admonish her sister for not contacting their father more often despite knowing that it would change nothing, but at least she could send word that Vallysha was still alive.

Yes, I too have characters who...you know...exist. I really haven't designed a character yet to be honest, or at least not characters with actual backstories or anything. I'm aiming to hit Level 50 with one of my current characters (Level 23 Bosmer DK and Level 22 Orcish Warden) before delving into a proper character just so I can get used to the game before running a proper character.

My aim is probably going to be some sort of Templar/DK though, but that's as far as I'm at right now for a proper character. 

First time player, and on about day 4 on PS4, with:

Name: Dorcas-Anya Geonette (ancestor of Auguris Cedas on his mothers side)

Age: Approx 35

Race: Breton

Class: Templar

Alliance: Daggerfall

Predominant skills: Aedric spear, Restoring light, Bow, Medium armour (crafting will follow)

Backstory is pending, but she is a follower of Mara with a severe dislike of Daedra. Picture with armour to follow :)

I think it just comes with time. Much like the first playthrough of a traditional TES game, I found myself just learning the setting and experiencing the stories before really getting into the whole character backstory thing. Now I've got a few, starting off with Sir Paws the Second:

This was the first character I made on PC NA during 2018's first free-to-play weekend. I was using my laptop and, because the download took so long, I rushed through character creation section. There just wasn't any point with such low resolution to adjust many details. Since then he's been my main - my go-to character for new content and crafting. I had planned to change his name to something more real, but ended up making a backstory to explain why he was "Sir Paws." Here's the character's version of how that happened:

"Sir Paws the Second... Who was Sir Paws the First, then?" I asked as we shared a moon sugar hookah in his cabin aboard The Spadetail.

"This one doesn't think there was a First. Khajiit never asked. He just took the name given to him as a young walker, fresh out of the temple."

"Sounds like a story. Care to share?"

"Ah, it's more exciting to hear the tale told and embellished by the locals of Riverhold but, in brief, this one fought a dark knight - some say a dro-m'athra spririt - as the sun set over the mesa. Khajiit remembers the warm rocks under his paws, almost a fiery red in the fading light of Magrus, and the first stars winking into existence overhead, heralding Jone and Jode. The duel lasted all night, but the bright moons favoured this one. As Khajiit's sword swept the head from his opponent's shoulders, this one collapsed from exhaustion and many wounds. Khajiit awakened several days later, by which time the walkers of the small village near Riverhold had come to call him Sir Paws due to his Akaviri armour and sword."

I heard the distant cries of gulls, followed by calls from above to stow the sails. We were to sleep on dry land that night, on a small island about half a day's sailing from Sunhold. I asked the Khajiit, "so where did 'the second' come from?"

"Maybe this one wasn't the first to duel that dark knight of the dunes, only the first to win."  

"May I ask your real name?"

The cat smiled then, before answering quietly and, it seemed, wistfully. "You may ask, but this one is Sir Paws and has been since he awoke to the kind and gentle hospitality of Tsani in that quiet, dusty town. At the Temple of the Two Moons we're taught to leave our vanity at the door. This one's birth-name belongs to he who didn't learn that lesson. Khajiit will speak no more of this."

Thanks Phil, unfortunately the outfit is temporary (felt like I was heading into the Thalmor Embassy again!), curious to see what else I can find as "day" clothes.

It's a very old name, we may even have one in the family somewhere in the 1860's or so, I think it's also mentioned in the bible somewhere as well. Sounded suitably old and felt appropriate for a Breton :)

I had to look it up, never heard of it before. It's very biblical, and definitely evokes a pious Breton follower of Mara :) I like that your story has helped shape the character and give you that grounded feeling from the off. Cool class choice, too! For me it's Dragonknight-Templar-Warden-everything else :D

Her backstory may be pending but surely you've noticed or settled upon parts of her personality while playing her? Even if you haven't I wouldn't say no to hearing more about her when you've pinned it all down.

It's hard for me to share just one, so I'll compromise (for now) and just share two. This first is my Nord stamina templar, Aemi Lightbringer. Pact soldier with a dark secret. 

The second is a relatively new character whom I've really enjoyed playing, a Bosmer stamina Nightblade ganker, but I may rework her into a stamina Necromancer this spring, after the new ESO chapter drops. Laeriel Underbrush, sneaky assassin and hunter.
