I might start doing this; something I'm starting to try to do with many games is give my character a goal that's separated from the game's main quests (for example, DUST only gives you the mission to survive the Mojave, but I'm currently doing a playthrough as a Legion frumentarius trying to investigate the status of different former Legion outposts to check the viability of retaking the area), and a journal would be the perfect way to record it.

Great example of why journaling is useful, tirrene. Pretty mucb all of my characters have goals seperate to quests, and sometimes it's hard to recall where you are progressing to that objective. It also helps remind you why the character has that goal if you write it in first person.

I've always wanted to do this, but never had the patience. Sometimes writing up builds ends up being a rushed playthrough as I'm trying to push to high level to see if everything works. With my latest Skyrim playthrough I want to slow down, and reallly feel like it's the character's journey, so I'm jotting down a few notes after each session. Then I'll have the material to write it up later if I have time.

Journaling differs a bit from writing to create a build. You probably wound't go into detail about combat, loot or even where you went. To me at least, journaling is about the opinions and interpretation of the character. So you might have one sentence about the Dragon Priest you fought, but a whole paragraph on the character's questions/ponderings about the enemy.

I always wanted to write up a journal type story, but never found the time. I'd really love to find a journal mod that allows you to jot down notes in game though, in an actual in game journal. That would be really fun.

Edit: Actually, its incredible what you find if you look. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48375 looks really fun

Mods solve everything! Personally I prefer a physical copy to write in but I can definitely see the appeal.
