It's been a good long while (almost 3 years!) since we've had a new RP help thread, and as it seems a new one is in demand this seems like as good a time as any to start one.

This is the place to ask any questions about roleplaying in any Elder Scrolls game. Please try and keep all discussion on topic, as although tangents can be interesting to discuss this thread is here for a purpose. Thanks!

Let's start this Thread off ^^

Im Thinking of Having my Necroscholar get Corrupted by some Artifact or Weapon but i cant Decide which.

He uses the Black Star ALOT but hasnt been to the Soul Cairn yet so that might change.

    Any Ideas?

If he's a scholar, what about the Oghma Infinium?

If you're gonna use the Oghma Infinium (good suggestion mitch!), are you gonna change how you interact with Herma Mora and Apocrypha? Maybe once the corruption starts the character can't help but be drawn to Solstheim to get to the realm, and while there he obsessively pours over every tome he finds.

He already was in two of the Black Books but knows nothing about Miraak or Mora Himself.

Picking the Infinium would give me a reason to kill Miraak. I could spin it as a sort of coup de tat from Mora against Miraak to make me his true Champion without getting his own hands dirty.

And having Apocrytha at his disposal would be enough to drive my Character Mad with Knowledge ^^

In the other roleplay help thread, I made some posts about a character with multiple personalities, and I'd decided on there being a process to unlocking each character. I've recently had the idea to mix this with a co-op thing with some friends (one character/combat style per player, only switch styles when all consent), but I also want to retain the idea of "only one character/combat style is available at the start of the game, the rest have to be unlocked". The others are willing to go along with this, provided we can find a way to have it not get in the way of a fun co-op, but we're having trouble finding a way.

Man, you must be the champion of obscure questions mitch XD

If I understand the problem, then maybe it'd be useful for the playthrough to follow a linear progression until all characters are unlocked. Like you all plan out what quests and prerequisites to do when so that everyone knows when their personalities will be unlocked, which will avoid others feeling like they're waiting too long or being left out. Maybe this could extend to when different people play as well - they set out what they want to achieve in their time so there's no nasty surprises in store for when the next person logs in.

    I just realized something.

"Savos Aren gives me a staff of magelight and says it should help in dark dungeons? Better turn down the brightness to make dungeons dark. Hey, wait a minute, the NPCs, only one of whom has innate night vision, went through the same allegedly dark dungeon without a single torch or magic light ball!"

Dungeons being dark would be immersive for the most part, except for when characters without a way to see in the dark can navigate them almost flawlessly.
