Hello fellow roleplayers, builders, writers, and who ever else. Amadeus here and this week I wanted to discuss something I have been thinking while working on my next project. Which class do you roleplay as the most and why?

To begin this discussion I always roleplay strictly as a Mage, and to be a little bit more specific a Necromancer. The reason I tend to play as a Necromancer a lot goes back to my days of D&D when my first ever character was a Necromancer named simply named Amadeus, who wanted to bring back his family and in doing so he became bitter, cold, and hateful towards all. That was easy for me to roleplay since I had just lost my great-grandmother and I became the same way. Anyways, since then the Necromancer class and even Mage class are the only two classes I could roleplay effectively all the time because it reflected myself whether it be the young Altmer mage aspiring to become Magnus or Redguard Necromancer who is Misanthropies and wants to see humanity fall before him.

So I am here, to ask you the same question which class do you roleplay the most and why. Are you cunning Rouge with a silver tongue and swift hands, a stealthy Assassin who takes contracts and kills for sport, or a drunken Nord swing his battleaxe all around the battlefield?

And like always, I ask you to reply to someone else's comment once you've posted yours - the fun is in the discussion after all!

It's good that you found a way to channel that emotion, Davey. I think every character I have is a roleplay character to some extent, but I favour paladins, knights, pilgrims and warriors. I like the different interpretations that they offer, and how they can be played through the lens of different cultures. A Knight of the Scarab could be very different to a Buoyant Armiger for example.

Bugger, Phil's basically got my answer. I'm a rather large fan of any class that could be considered spiritual or holy (or religious) in nature, playing a Priest of Talos is different to playing a Priest of Kyne which is different to...Well you get the idea anyway, the point is that they allow for a lot of freedom and with TES there aren't really you know, strict lines. Alright, reply time. I choose Phil as the only person to respond to at the moment :P

Right on Phil. Even with Warriors you get that difference between what would be a typical Redguard Warrior, and then an Imperial Legionnaire, I do kind of want to try a bit of a Thalmor Tank-y character some day just to kind of get into that mindset of a Thalmor agent that isn't a power-mad Wizard of mass destruction (or whatever their class technically is :P). There's just so much diversity there, whereas something like a Scout always feels kind of similar to me.

Thank you and still helps me to this day. I always try to be a Warrior, but I end up getting my ass kicked too many times or I get bored. As for Knights and Paladins, I have personally created a class called Death Paladins which like a Paladin, but eviler. The only knight I have played as has been a Deathknight. I have never tried a Pilgrim though, so I may give it a try. Also, I am glad you brought the culture part, but that always factors into my roleplaying.

I always try to be a good religious character like a Priest of Akatosh or a Paladin of the Nine, but I always get bored with them, so you having the ability to roleplay as one, I will you and Paws props on that. I know it is completely different from playing a Necromancer who worships Mannimarco and wishes to take over Skyrim and rule it through fear. Also, I would like to say while base Skyrim gives you plenty of options to roleplay really well, I would like to add that mods make it even better with Frostfall, Campfire, and such giving you no limit in a sense.

Yeah...to be honest, I'm sorta the same, not entirely because well I do enjoy the complexities but my favourite idea for a character was actually a more Chaotic Priestess of Dibella that I never got around to. And I don't remember it all that well, but the idea is written down kinda? Actually it just kind of says evil Dibella Priestess so... you know, but it's the thought that counts :D

Really the Divines are interesting because there are twists that can be done there, you don't have to play the ah typical Priest but you can twist and turn the character so they might be following [Insert God's name Here] teachings but in their own way. But yeah, I get bored with Priest Archetype 001 (or, the normal somewhat religious nut who's all happy and peaceful) but even something like the Vigilants, who are more Chaotic Good are interesting to me.

I like to think I try to roleplay with almost every character I play, and I usually take a crack at all of the classic classes as best I can throughout my playtime with each Elder Scrolls game.

I would say, and I think I am a broken record, that I always come back to a Battlemage. Oblivion hit me as the first ES game I ever played so I fell in love with the image of a sword wielding, armor wearing, spellcaster defending the Empire and Imperial City. Just had a cool image in my head.

My usualy order of playing an Elder Scrolls game:

    1) ALWAYS play an Orc with heavy armor and a warhammer (if Orc was not a playable race, I usually went for a Redguard or Breton) and just get a feel for the game. Weird tradition, I know.

    2) Go through every possible combination I feel would be fun to play, mixing in roleplays galore.

    3) Settle on an Imperial (again, if not available, go for Breton or Redguard) Battlemage.

I think this hybrid class really helps me use multiple skills and a hell of a lot of magic which keeps me occupied and not bored. The change up of approach keeps me going and I usually add in a more or less "good" to "neutral/good" style of alignment but it depends.

A chaotic Priestess of Dibella reminds me of Paws' Red Wife of Dagon for some reason. Trust me, I have made many characters the same "Evil Bal Paladin" or whatever that is basically my idea, so yeah it counts. :)

I will say I have roleplayed as a super zealot Stendarr priest and it was fun, think of the Vigilants and Dawnguard, but cranked up twice fold. So being a Chaotic Good is more interesting than Lawful Good because it allows more freedom.

I always try to roleplay different classes, but again I always end up back at Mage or Necromancer.

I tried a Battlemage once, but I ended up using more spells over my sword and I ended up abandoning my armor and choose robes, I failed at that.

Now since you brought a specific race I tend to play as Imperial or Altmer though Breton is close to being adding to that list as well. As for the clothing/armor, I always pick certain color robes like Black for Necromancers, Red for Pyromancers, and so forth.

Yeah, I kind of do that, but I stay away from pure warrior or thief builds because I know I will fail at them.

I never settle so I always keep doing numerous play test over and over.

Once, again someone brings up Good characters. Man, I am the only one who doesn't do Good characters, though I can do Neutral alignments to a loose extent. I will agree hybrid classes like Battlemage/Spellsword can be better than a straight Warrior or Mage.

Chaotic priestess of Dibs? That sounds like a cool concept. Like, passion bordering on the madness, or more like the chaos of abstract art sort of thing? Piqued my interest here.

I play as a Paladin. Sword & board in heavy armor that uses restoration. He's honorable AF and absolutely wrecks face.
