Improvised conversations with NPCs idea.

Ok so stick with me, as someone who likes to roleplay his characters there's one thing that always breaks the immersion. Knowing exactly what NPCs like Kodlak, Harkon, Isran, Balgruf etc are gonna say.

So here's my proposition. By now we've all played the game enough to know more or less everything about the characters so I was thinking... what if someone (anyone) were to temporarily take on the roll of a specific NPC and answer another users questions? (simple answers/sentences will do for it to feel like an NPC. Hell maybe even order them around.

    For example:

I'm taking on the role of Kodlak and random Tamriel Vault user is playing as a new member of the companions who believes 3 missions isn't enough to give them a spot in The Circle, so he sits down for a conversation with Kodlak.      P1- Me (Kodlak)   P2- Other user (new companion)

P2- Harbringer I know Skjor believes I'm ready for "The next step" but I honestly believe I'm nowhere near ready.

P1- I see, it seems I need to have a conversation with Skjor. You seek a way to test your skills? Head on over to Mistwatch and clear out the bandits there.

P2- Harbringer to be honest that sounds pretty easy.

P1- Well how about this, leave your weapons here with me. Pick up a different weapon from the Hall and use that to fight the bandits.

I can't be the only one that has made up conversations between the DB and someone like Lydia to give the game a bit more life. Like Lydia suddenly going:

"Thane we need to talk, I believe I'm entitled to some of the loot we got from that last dungeon."  if I was playing and Lydia suddenly told me that it would probably make for a pretty interesting argument which Lydia would obviously lose, unless she was married to the DB.

I don't know how it could be formated though, it could be like on my example or it could be really simple like.

"Hey I'm a level 20 Spellsword and I just joined the Stormcloaks, what side mission would Galmar give me to help the cause?"

Someone replies  "Jmmm how about you hunt down 10 of those Imperial Bastards? And bring us their weapons so we can melt them down and make more weapons to kill them with!"

So does this make sense to anyone else?

    TL;DR

Someone posts a question to an NPC like "Hey Aela is there some animal in particular you'd like to go hunt with me?"

Other person replies:  "I've hunted most regular animals but I've yet to test my skills against a Charus, know where we could find one of those?"

This looks awesome, Naeg! It's a great way of bringing roleplay, a personal thing, and making it a group activity. And we all have questlines that we wish were longer and more fleshed out, so this will fix that itch as well.

I think your proposed way of dealing with it sounds great, sorta like a helpdesk which people are already familiar with, so it should fit perfectly.

I'll wait until Potemus has seen this, give him a chance to say what he thinks about it, but I definitely think we can do something with this!

So this is basically a Skyrim AMA in a way? I do like the idea just for the fact you can make the NPCs more fleshed out.

So like Zon said I think this will be a great addition to this group.

You heard the man, if you want to start the official thread Naeg, post away. Could we also imitate the rewards for the quests as well, ie when someone's done the quest they return, and the member who set them the task 'gives' them something - e.g. 'Good job, heres 50 gold', which the person could steal or console command into their game.

I think we could do anything with the rewards it's totally up to whoever is taking control of the NPC. Since most misc quests the reward is whatever you loot.

Ill try and make the official thread fancy with some pictures and pretty fonts ^_^
