Wow, Thorien this is really coming along awesomely. You really can get a sense for Nalfien's personality in your writing.

    Great work.

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, how are you doing the borders?

  • June 20, 2016

Thanks)) I've been doing my best)) Though I hope he doesn't come across as an arrogant pansy)))

Of course I don't mind. I do it with the eraser tool, changing its opacity. The pics are PNG files and I just erase around the border so it gets transparent.

I feel like these passages are particularly revealing:

believes weapons are made for miserable people who don’t have enough inlelligence and willpower to master the magic. There is no weapon more natural and elegant than the pure power of Aetherius

The only weapon he ever owned is an Elven dagger which he uses for more mundane things than battle.

he cannot imagine an act as boring and useless as reciting the facts of his own biography, which, otherwise, can be easily learned, for instance, from his Thalmor dossier or from the records regarding his noble House, [...] And if one’s rank or status doesn’t allow one to access any of those documents, it is quite apparent that none of this information is of one’s concern.

His mother, albeit not as famous, was an icon of immaculate manners and natural dignity befitting a true Altmer lady and a scion of one of the most ancient and powerful noble Houses, carrying an unbroken bloodline ascending to the Aldmeri ansectors whose tombs used to be at the Crystal Tower.

All these passages paint a picture for me of someone who is concerned with reputation and appearances, as well as a bit of a superiority complex.  But in an accessible way, right? It's not the Faceless Evil Thalmor escorting a prisoner again and again that we're used to. It's very tangible. You've done a good job of breathing life into Nalfien.

Aw, thanks) But... superiority complex???? Probably I've made a mistake somewhere, that's not what I wanted to convey, not at all. Maybe when I add more info things will get clearer))

Tiny! Tiny, tiny one. But I think that's OK too. It's more real than puppies and ice cream for everyone 365 days of the year. But I am definitely looking forward to seeing how he progresses.

I'm still not sure yet how he burned his hands. Let me ask this, did he get the burns in alinor, or in hammerfell?

Well, the guy grew up surrounded by people who kept telling him how awsome his family is and how he must live up to it. And he really really loves his people and holds dearly everything what is Altmer. So no wonder he's a bit too proud))
