How to deal with enchanting Roleplay-wise?

So I want a character to use enchanting, except the said character doesn't want to condemn a soul to the Soul Cairn...

    That includes animals.

So perhaps something like he soul traps dremora only, as a way of killing them permanently?

My first thought would be the undead but I'm not really sure how TES handles undeath. Is it just the body that gets raised and the energy put into the body is a new soul-like power created by the necromancy spell or does the spell force a weakened version of the soul back in to the body? If it's the first I think using soul trap on the undead would also work.

I believe undead does work for that purpose. the soul is divided into two parts you see, the consciousness and the life force. the undead only require the life force to keep moving about, the are not conscious. and my guess is that enchanting uses the life force to create and fixate the magic into the object. since the undead only have life force I believe soul trapping undead is the way to go

Why do reanimated dead whisper "Thank you..." when you kill them if they aren't conscious?

One of my current characters, a priestess, only soul traps daedric summons, animals, and undead for this reason. Part of the motivation for her character is to wipe out the dragon cult, so draugr and dragon priests, having made some sort of unholy pact to retain their unliving status, are fair game. I haven't actually decided if they go to the soul cairn or not - i haven't played the dlcs, so maybe there's some in-game evidence i'm missing here. but in her view, it doesn't matter - either they're wiped out, or they're sent to the eternal pokey :)

*casually ignores internal moral dilemma caused by implications of question*

But seriously I think undead (like draugur) and reanimation is different. Draugur are a part of a pact...of sorts but reanimated are forced to serve beyond the grave, I think they are conscious of this enslavement and show it once they are free. I'm unsure though

I agree accept for the animals, it's your character but I think that a priestess, if she cares for souls, would not want to condemn a harmless rabbit ,who wished no harm to her, to a place she herself would not go...now draugur and daedra, I understand, they can't be allowed on the face of Tamriel and therefore must be vanquished, permanently. Just not atronarchs, and not summoned daedra, I mean their on your side. How are you better then the Dragon Priests you despise, if you too kill those loyal to you?

nah, she doesn't summon. Daedra are evil; trafficking with the Daedric princes for a Daedric companion would be a big no-no.

Oh I thought 'only soul traps daedric summons' meant that you were the one summoning them.
