    Dossier: Jotun the Steady-Handed

From the desk of Commander Maro, filed under “Threat level: mild”
All files are subject to alterations, should the need arise.

    Artist's approximation

    Basic Information

    Sex: Male
    Race: Nord
    Age: 44
    Skin Tone: Pale
    Height: 5’ 10” (178 cm)
    Weight: 10st 2 lb (64 kg)
    Aliases: ?
    Titles: ?
    Classification: Hunter (Presumed assassin)
Alignment: With us? Against us?  Nonetheless, he is most assuredly against Ulfric Stormcloak.

Build: Jotun is slim, though noticeably not out of shape.  He has the bearing of a man used to the wielding of a bow, broad in the shoulders, and tense of stomach, but not weighed down by unnecessary muscle.

Hair: Jotun seems the typical Nord, with long strands of blond hair that fall about his face without care.  His idea of care seems to be loosely tied back behind his ears, and it appears to do the job.

    Eyes: Indistinct.  They are blue.

Body Markings: There’s a faint scar from an old war wound of an arrow once lodged into his shoulder.  It stays covered up most of the time, but it is there.

    Known Attitudes

Skills and Abilities: Jotun, as his name suggests, is capable with the bow.  It is a shame he never joined the legion, as his marksman abilities are almost unrivalled.  He has the uncanny ability to not be noticed should he choose, as evidenced by his predator-like methods of hunting the deer and wolves outside his home of Whiterun.

Weapons: He has a wooden bow. Simple, inelegant, but efficient.

Apparel: He wears simple brown clothing, suitable for blending in with the earth.  He is rarely seen coming.

Religious Beliefs: Jotun has been witnessed entering and leaving the Hall of the Dead regularly.  He seems to hold Arkay in great respect.  However, the Priest there, Andurs, claims that Jotun has never come to pray whilst he was around.

Political affiliations: Though Jotun has not taken up with our cause, he seems to hold Ulfric Stormcloak in certain disregard.  He has been heard, on a rare night, decrying him for bringing the Thalmor to Skyrim, and ruining his former life.  What this means, we are investigating.

Occupation: He hunts, sells the meats and hides to merchants in and around Whiterun Hold.  He travels to do so, though our trackers have lost him and no sightings of his hunting in other parts of Skyrim have been noted.  He presumably makes further monies in alternate methods, but nothing has come to light.

Favourite Foods and Drinks: He may have the appetite of a Nord, but he drinks only water.  He has never been seen to be drinking alcohol.

Personality: He remains aloof in public with many, though most residents of Whiterun speak positively of him.  They praise his calm, collected confidence, and his friendly nature.  Around his daughter Runa, however, he is a different man.  Attentive, caring, he clearly has great drive to provide for his daughter.  She is his weakness and his strength.  Should we need to exert any pressure on him, we go through her.

    Known History

Jotun’s history starts in the Battle of Anvil, where his wife and child of two years perished as collateral.  His is a story of revenge, one that he sought against both sides of the battle.  While many escaped, Jotun’s killing of the Thalmor Officer of War Ondolyn and General Langris of Skingrad didn’t escape certain groups notice, and he was forced to go on the run from Cyrodiil.  His records after that point are intermittent.  Sightings in Morrowind (where he supposedly ran with the Morag Tong for a while, though there is no evidence of this), Skyrim, and even Valenwood came to a head when he inexplicably settled down in Skyrim with a girl he had recently adopted from Riften’s Honorhall Orphanage following the mysterious death of the owner tripping over a bear trap.

It is my belief that he was responsible.

He has been living comfortably since then and has shown no inclinations towards picking up his weapon in anger.  We will, however, keep watching.

This has me hooked, the way you've written it, and the kind of character he is. I'd love to know what path he travels in Skyrim, even if you don't turn it into a formal contribution.

Two small things. A typo (he bow) in the first line of the Known attitudes sectionThe use of distribution in the Build line. Would cofiguration, or one of its synonyms, eg form, or even build, be more accurate? Or saying weight/muscle distribution? I dunno.

Noted and adjusted.  Typos often slip right past me.  And switched 'distribution' for 'bearing'.

Thanks.  I wanted to do something a bit different than just having a list of attributes from an omniscient viewer.  I'm actually planning a sort of blend between a story and a roleplay guide that I want to call a "Roleplay Writeup" detailing his daughter's adventures as a young adventurer and how his experiences shape it.  It might work, it might not, but I have a lot of character for him that doesn't come across from a potential enemy's perspective.  There's a relatively recent mod that allow me to do this here which is great fun to play around with.

I'm excited :D I'd not seen that mod before even though I check the nexus fairly regularly... well now that I have I may just have to give it a go.

That was a really interesting read J.D, I love the idea of a sort of vague report on a character rather than breaking down everything he's ever done and you've provided enough detail to make Jotun really interesting. Just a nice solid write-up, and that first image is a really nice touch that adds a bit more fluidity to the profile.

    SCP-10273: The Skyrim Dad

Jokes aside, I think the report would be much improved if he was actually suspected or even confirmed as having commited some sort of high-profile crime; as it stands, the Legion has written a full report about a single dad who happens to scream "screw those stormy cape bois" whenever he gets drunk. Which, admittedly, is hilarious.
