Faction Profile: Ambarro and Diia's Roaring Thunder Databook

Soooo... this is the Roleplaying corner. I've never been here before!

My main work here in the Tamriel Vault is Roaring Thunder, Hissing Lightning, an ongoing story that's garnered its share of readers, but it's becoming increasingly inaccessible because of how long it's getting... and then last week my little brother who's still living halfway across the planet sends me a huge care package of alllll the local novels and comics I used to read as a kid, and among the dozens and dozens of colourful pages was a neat little pile of databooks~

For those of you who don't know, authors of long-running series in East Asia often produce databooks of their characters, both to refresh their readers' memory and to draw in new attention. Immedaite idea! Databooks are especially charming because a lot of authors choose to put in character interactions in the form of notes and remarks to 'show off' their universe's personality.

I was also running low on mystical story juice so doing this really let me take a break from writing while still being creatively productive.

This is a bit of an experiment since I haven't done anything like this before, but I hope you all enjoy, whether you're familiar with my story or not!

If you're not, though, reading this little Apocryphal lore article that I wrote a while ago might help you understand the background history. I don't cover that much in the databook, since it's mostly just about the characters. Briefly? RTHL is about ninja. In the ES universe. Kitty ninja. In a kitty ninja village.

    Then, without further ado-

So thanks to typical Phil brilliance, I've now put the Databook in an album, so it reads like an actual book! (-ish)

I'll leave the thread up because I appreciate your comments, but do read the Databook from the album from this point!

Very cool to see the profiles for the two kits. :D

I think you can narrow the spaces on some things though.

I would totally have a glass of prosecco or 2 with Lencius. ;) Very cool!

Yaay! Thanks! Fixed most of the spacing issues while I was at it

I'm not at all familiar with Databooks but I really like the idea now. It's very creative, looks like a lot of fun and also contains a fair bit of info in small snapshot sort of form. Presumably you could upload each slide to an album and embed the link to each picture within each frame so that each could be viewed in isolation? Inspiring, almost makes me want to play around with PowerPoint again.

Also, that's probably the best use of Decumus Scotti's works I've ever seen.

Very neat and creative work! :) It's good to know a bit more of them.

That was such a great idea I went ahead and did it!

Hah, awesome :D Haven't even really started reading the databook but it's an awesome little idea :)  Oh, do have to ask if/how spoilery it might be? Still gotta catch up on Darkening Skies, because I'm horrible at keeping up with stories :( So yeah, don't want to spoil anything that might show up just in case :)

You can just skip over the Lencius sections in that case, the rest is spoiler-free if you're caught up on Gathering Clouds and the first few chapters of Darkening Sky! Which I think you are...

What a cool idea! Love the unique approach mate, what an awesome way to do not only a Profile, but a Faction Profile at that. I'm not familiar with Data with databooks but I really like what I've seen - funny, almost whimsical, but chochablock with all the info a Profile needs. Awesome!

Also, this is now stickied ;)
