Klimmek's Supplies Revisited

Thought Klimmek's Supplies was just another quest item? Think again! This has already been pointed out before, but after you drop off Klimmek's Supplies at High Hrothgar and complete the quest, you can go back to the chest there to pick it back up. After that, if you drop it out of your inventory, it floats in the air, meaning it can be used as a floating platform! After lots of tinkering and fun shenanigans I've discovered some new breakthroughs with this simple trick.

    Mechanics

This is mostly speculation but I think the reason Klimmek's Supplies remains stationary midair is because it is indeed a knapsack. Knapsacks cannot normally be moved by the player at all (e.g. Telekinesis, Unrelenting Force, Grab Commands). Therefore, when dropped the item becomes a static addition to the environment but can still be pocketed again.

    Tricks

Klimmek's Supplies is more than just a floating platform, it's infinite platforms and unlimited access to any open area! I've been doing some serious testing with this little exploit and have excellent results. My first thought was to duplicate it and make a kind of stair case but, despite my best efforts, it cannot be duplicated. Fortunately, there is no need to duplicate it for the skilled trickster!

To ASCEND any height with Klimmek's Supplies, begin by dropping it from your inventory and mounting the knapsack. Next, aim your cursor at the satchel below your feet. Now jump and pick up the supplies at the same time, aiming down all the while. Just after the apex of your jump, enter your menu and drop the supplies again. You should be perched atop the man purse, a few feet higher than before. Repeat for the most haggard Levitation spell!

It doesn't end there bloggers! With Klimmek's Supplies we can also TRAVERSE any distance midair! There are two different ways to do this, one more silent than the other. The first is by jumping forward and picking up Klimmek's Supplies at the same time, moving forward a few feet and dropping the tote bag just below your feet again. It helps if your cursor is pointed a bit forward as opposed to directly down. This method is very risky and tough to master but is viable!

The second way to TRAVERSE midair, and far easier in my opinion, is to implement the Whirlwind Sprint shout. While atop Klimmek's Supplies aim at the backpack, activate Whirlwind Sprint and pick up the sack simultaneously. You should be propelled forward with the pouch in hand (still facing down). After losing forward momentum and you begin your descent, drop Klimmek's Supplies so that you land safely on the bag. It takes practice but can be very fun for a thief! “Second-story men” now have a viable way to enter through the rooftops.

Remember ladies and gents, don't leave home without Klimmek's magical sack.

"don't leave home without Klimmek's magical sack"

    I need an adult.

But seriously, this is really cool! I want to go where no Imperial has gone before now!

You're gonna have to harass Klimmek to do it!

Played around with this a bit with the kids; they got a real kick out of it :D One thing that drove me crazy, though, is that sometimes the bag drops flat which makes it easy to stand on, but other times it drops vertically and you slide right off. I hate that... especially traversing dangerous heights xD

Glad you enjoyed it Jin. I mentioned it in the thread but when you jump off the satchel and pick it up, don't drop it again until you start to fall. It seems to work for me nearly everytime with that method. It's definitely a neat trick and I tried to work it into an arcane thief build that I've been working. Maybe I'll get around to posting it one day :p

I'll keep playing around with it then... I've been working on a thief/assassin/adventurer build that uses telekinesis as a weapon, and this would really kick it up a notch.

I know you've been working on the telekinesis thing long before I started, so if I ever finish I'll send it your way first to see what you think.

Excellent! I'd love to see what you've come up with. I'll share what I had before I abandoned it too. You'd get a kick out of the armor combo and RP/GP. It was probably too exploitative for most but I enjoyed it.

Sounds awesome! All the more incentive to finish, although I wonder if I ever will... anytime I start something a new event pops up and takes over my life xD

I know lol. I want to enter them but it's just not enough time for me. I hate feeling rushed and I don't have much time to playtest. I also like that rank tag ;p I am working on a build now though ;)
