A Comprehensive Treatise On Wards

Wonderful article. It has been great using wards with my current build, and since I'm playing with the Requiem overhaul, it is especially nice, since the overhaul tweaks wards slightly to block arrow damage as well. It is very cool to go head to head against a dragon, which are very hard in Requiem, with only a sword and a ward. Very exciting.

Thanks!  The only mod I tried out wards with was the Deadly Combat mod which allowed to reflect spells on a caster if you time your ward right. Was pretty awesome to reflect shouts on draugr

Has anyone tried using Elemental Fury while wielding a (unenchanted) weapon in one hand and holding up a Ward in the other?

I seem to recall that, while you're warding, the attack animation is fairly slow.  But I'm not sure if Elemental Fury would help speed it up...

    Hey Paul,

Almost a year has passed and I only now noticed your comment. Better late than never!  Elemental Fury does improve weapon speed when ward is active. There is a slight delay between two consequent attacks though, which lowers the effectiveness of the shout.

Well, as long as this discussion is active again - you mention that Restoration potions improve the armor rating granted by a ward spell. Does it also affects the spell-blocking effect of a ward? I'm assuming yes, but it never hurts to have confirmation.
