Character Chronicle: Maria

This is Maria. She doesn't care what you have to say.

    *

Even if what you have to say is in her own best interests.

Like, for example, that she shouldn't eat people.

    *

I started playing Maria as my second attempt at Motty's Fallout 4 DiD thread but longed to keep playing her even after she bit the dust to a cheating Bottlecap Mine that apparently works through walls. Sharing her adventures up the point of her death wasn't enough for me, and I'd like to keep sharing her tear through the wasteland. Updates will follow as the adventure progresses.

    Primary perks:

    Nerd Rage
    > Cannibal
    > Gun Nut
    > Rifleman

    *

We paid a visit to the Boston Public Library to test out the new three-crank musket mod.

Those protectrons are tough sons a bitches. Though I never figured out what set it on fire.

    *

Codsworth and I headed south to Fairline Hill Estates to buy fusion cells from Elanor.

We also picked a fight with a Sentrybot. It took two tries, but it gave us the fusion cores we needed to get into Vault 81.

    *

We spent approximately 90 minutes in Vault 81 talking to everyone because I didn't realize I had to save a cat to start the Curie quest. Picture data is missing because I was annoyed and couldn't be bothered.

    *

Coming in second on "Most Annoying Deaths"...

I suppose knew I was doomed. I just didn't want to accept it.

    *

Went MLG Pro Crouch-walking through a radiation storm, sport-killing Radstags...

...with 4-crank shots. They call me Overkillingtonnn.

    *

It was around this point that Codsworth stared severely disliking me.

I disliked me too. Who brings a scope to a close-quaters fight?

     *

I picked pieces of combat armor off of raiders and somehow ended up better equipped than Edward.

He wanted Jack's sister back "unharmed". Fine.

    *

    I'll just harm everyone else.

What they should have done was set up in a town. With actual pillars.

    *

You know who makes silly, redundant errors like double-improving a weapon?

    A synth.

    *

After a dozen failed attempts at completing Pickman's Gallery, I let Codsworth take point.

    *GIF UNDER MAINTENANCE*
    Clearly he had it handled.

I do like a woman with that hairstyle. Wait, though, you need to save a cat to get Curie? Does it involve trees and ladders? I've never even met her, so there's that.

When you enter the vault that she's in, if you're attentive enough you might see a cat run past you towards the entrance and a guard call out to it. You can then find a girl looking for it which leads you out of the vault in search of the damn thing. Looking for the cat is required to progress with the quest to find Curie, I say looking because I think you can kill the cat and lie to the girl about what happened.

@Legion, nice to see this up I'll probably make a post about them eventually xD

I'm glad you only think that, Golds, implying as it does that you didn't do the cat-killing yourself. 'Coz that would be dastardly!

It's so stupid. It involves walking literally a block away and telling the cat to "go home" because the girl "misses" it. Guh. I lost it protecting the damn thing from Super Mutant fire, otherwise I would have given it a bottlecap mine-fueled launch back to the vault myself. A little adhesive would have fixed it right up.

Just letting you know that I've added a tag to this since I'm in the process of finally creating a sort of archive for this group :D

Just bumping this back up to the front page of the group, since it is now on the last due to how the site handles adding tags to discussions.

:O Litterally putting a cap in its ass. Wait, how does a bottlecap mine actually work? What combustible properties does a bottlecap have that make it an ideal component in making a mine? Also, if bottlecaps are the currency of the wasteland, and I assume that works because each cap represents a part of the gross value of the Wasteland Reserve, why would anyone use currency in an IED? That would be like thinking pennies and dimes woud be better used as weapons, no? Maybe as a one-off, sure. But soon the practice would not be econonmically viable when you need to remortgage the house in order to stockpile an arsenal of exploding stuff.

I assume that the bottlecaps work as shrapnel and are only included so that they can tear through whatever set off the mine at incredible speeds. An old lady in New Vegas had something to say about people using the caps in these mines, but I'm too lazy to go find the quote, let's just say she wasn't impressed.
