I've seen builds before that have stages, adding a roleplay aspect to the feeling of progression in gameplay (I.e. the scholar becomes a wizard upon learning the paralyze all spell), but this is so much more. This build's "change in direction" has its own clear and meaningful purpose that strengthens the roleplay and creates such drastic change in gameplay that I imagine it really does feel like a new and somewhat terrifying experience. I also love mounted combat, and two handed especially. As far as I can tell (though it's hard to know for sure on console), two handed weapons share the animation and swing speed of their one handed brothers when riding a horse, increasing your DPS considerably (if you can get used to mounted combat). What I didn't realize however, was that Sweep applies while on a horse. Unless I read that wrong, that's kind of a game changer! How do you get it to activate? I don't think you can do sideways power attacks on a horse.

Took me a while to figure out who "Cappy" was. "Chappy" hehe, I get it now. Also, my apologies, for not getting back to you soon, sang a recital and now I'm working on my FO stuff.

Hmm, to be honest, I'm not sure if it works. You can do two kinds of attacks on horseback. One that is just a standard strike and then one that looks a lot like the side attack. Both can be make into power attacks depending on how long you hold the button. Which means the second one goes through the motion of the sideways power attack you need for Sweep. I just don't remember if Sweep kicked in or not. And yes, you are right, you grab the one-handed animation on horseback, which is the number one argument I would say is against Sweep kicking in. If the game thinks your swinging a one-handed weapon, I wouldn't be surprised if it applied the struff that pertains to a one-handed weapon. That being said, it still does the damage of a two-handed weapon, so it's a question now of what attribute the game considers dominant while on horseback. I tended to use Sweep when on foot, especially in the Civil War, so my apologies for not being totally clear. But now, i am very curious.

I swear Lissette, you're reading my mind!  I played through that outburst last night and it hit me hard, like it always does.  (I even fumed about it on the Character Crusade Discord.) It just rubs me the wrong way - in every direction.

You've captured the emotion, the rage, all of it in your backstory.  You've written what I've always wished to do in the game.  It was beautiful! (rubing my left eye to cleanse a tear...er....I mean dirt.  My eye had a piece of dirt in it.  DIRT DAMNIT!!!)

Bear-Arm is a very intresting character.  A Nord for the bard's songs!  Since I've not played as a two-hand melee bad-ass Nord before, I'll have to try it!

My apologies Solias for not getting back to you sooner. I had a performance and am now allover Fallout. Yeah, I totally agree.  My imagination sometimes kicks in when I play characters like this. I mean, letting my imagination run wild during a Requiem playthrough resulted in Straag Rod.

I just didn't want to create someone who was mindless, you know? He definitely has his reasons for doing what he does. What Ulfric believes isn't really even relevant. Bear-Arm is fighting for the hope that Carlotta and Mila will have a safe home, without the Thalmor.

I read and loved this when it was a WiP and the completed build is even better! I love the heavy roleplay aspect of the build and the long backstory. I love how you incorporated in-game dialogue into the backstory. I admit that I teared up a bit when reading the interchange between Fralia and Tysnal when she gave him the sword. :’(

I like how you carrried the 'bear' theme throughout the story and in the game play itself, relating the combat attacks to bear attacks. Your selection of pictures even gives a 'wintery bear' feel to the presentation.

With me being a vanilla Skyrim player, I appreciate that you include options for both a modded and unmodded play through. (I avoid fast travel and stop to eat and sleep anyway.)

As I've mentioned to you before, I tend to avoid melee characters (as a bad button masher) but this roleplay heavy build would definitely entice me to try!

Thanks, always, GailOlm, for your kind words. I remember you comments on the Outsider too, way back early last year. Hehe, another two-handed build that was very "Nordy", though he was an Altmer.

The funny thing is that I don't know how the dlcs for Skyrim Special Edition work on ps4, which I'ver recently had to switch to, due to my motherboard dying. I may be on Vanilla soon too. Like in Fallout, I can't even access the dlcs yet, because i need an internet connection to redeem my dlc keys. It all depends on whether I can access the internet on the ps4 in the hotel I'm staying it. The irony, is that it's focused my buildiing quite nicely on Fallout 4. I'm curious to see how it'll influence my future Skyrim builds. I love modded build, but I've always respected that people still play on Vanilla, so I will always offer a vanilla option in all of my builds. The great thing, is that I've played with mods long enough that i can offer good mod suggestions even if I'm playing Vanilla.

I bet I'm a worse button-masher than you, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying a variety of combat styles. I just die more. :D

Really like this. First one I read on this site. Basically why i even made a profile. Definitely going to push me in the right direction of role-playing, good work.

Wow, thank you. I'll check out your profile. It's always great when something I make inspires others to create too.
