General Build Discussion

Are you working on a build? Playing a build? Reading a build? Building a build? Well, then this is the discussion for you. Here we just chat about anything that's build related, from what we're doing at the moment, future plans to just about anything else you can name. It's just a relaxed place to talk about one of our favourite pastimes, and chat a bit with other builders and that sort of thing.

It isn't a Help Desk or Build Recommendation Thread since we've got those, though we won't straight up deny anyone asking for a spot of help either.

Aside from the last Crossworlds 3 build of mine, which I just need to finish the write up, I've been working on a few other builds

Any hints on what you're working on after Crossworlds Chris? By the way, I'm kind of interested in how you're going with Vanilla still. I'm kind of tired of playing the game without an overhaul (Ordinator really) and you've built a lot more than me so I'm kind of wondering if your kind of getting to the same point.

Well, I do have some perk overhaul mods, some that even add in new perks. And I might say later

This is a fantastic idea Deebs! I'll be following this one closely :D

Been working on an Ordinator spell-fist for almost half a year (between a 2nd playthrough and events/collaborations it seems like the poor kitten will never a build written for her, but I am DETERMINED to write it up xD).

Destruction (lightning cloak and chain lightning), Restoration (Close Wounds and Circle of Protection, but mostly for all the cool passive Ordinator buffs/enemy damage perks), Light Armor (Unarmed branch), and Blacksmithing (Chitin and Arcane Blacksmith). It's been so much fun I'm tempted to run a 3rd playthrough without Blacksmithing to (a) see if I really need it, and (b) just to have an excuse to play her again.

I call it Fist of Khenarthi. Trying to think of something special to do with the write up, and have been toying with an idea, but it seems a bit off the wall (maybe a bit too off the wall)... might have to ease back on the ambition a bit. I'd be tempted to start experimenting with writing her up, but I've made some commitments to work on a couple of collaborations, so I should probably put the build to rest for a while, but I am definitley going to get this written up by spring :D

Oooh yeah, Resto-Light Armour would be an incredibly good combination. Getting off, uhh... Crusader's Fire, for example, is something that would work excellently well, as would Warrior's Flame. Good stuff there, you get the passive healing for yourself rather consistently with that one from my experiences, that and the debuffs once fully boosted are really excellent.

If you do end up dropping Smithing I have a teeny recommendation. Pick up Shouts, or at the very least the Windborne perk because that gives you a speed and damage boost (which obviously works really well with Unarmed). But yeah, that does sound incredibly fun, I've kept meaning to run a Speech + Light Armour + Alteration character in Ordinator. I think there was something else there as well, huh man I've been playing too many other games and I've been forgetting stuff.

Oh, Speech, LA, and Alteration are a hecka-fun combo. I toyed with it for a concept Phil had talked with me about a while ago, and I really enjoyed it... can't for the life of me remember what I did with that combo though--I'm gonna have to dig through my old saves xD

Probably just destroyed everything because that's how it works :P

Speaking of builds, I've got a combination Crossworlds + Single Skill build that I'm working on (the Pure Series for those interested) that focuses on Enchanting, but I'm having a bit of trouble planning it. The flaw here, is that to an extent Enchanting relies on other skills and I want to keep this relatively pure (maybe a dagger for delivery but nothing else.

My main plan, and what I'd like to avoid is using Summermyst - Enchantments of Skyrim because it has enchantments like 'heal on strike', 'heal allies around you for 10 points a second', 'resurrect upon death at the cost of the item' and it really focuses on a lot more Armor/Passive enchantments that are really cool-seeming. If some of them work on followers it'd be an absolutely amazing build to end up running. BUT, I'd rather figure out if there's just nothing that's anywhere near as interesting that can be done with Vanilla.

    Any thoughts?

Staves. Lots and lots of staves.

You'll have plenty of spells to choose from, opportunities to make gear for yourself, and chances to make gear for your followers. While you make your helpers into specially enchanted helpers, make yourself immune to magic with elemental/magic resist enchants. Win friggidy win.
