    Daedric Smithing (1/1)
    Dragon Smithing (1/1)

    Perk Alignment (level 51+):
Generally this is when the Goutfang monk takes on Learning to master Sword-play aswell as mastering all that they know.

    Special Powers:
Head bash - use your two heavy fists to smash your enemies skull obliterating it into tiny little pieces instantly killing the enemy.
Maul - Claw your enemy so hard the bleeds them self will kill your enemy in seconds.
Pounce - Sneak in the shadows and pounce at your enemy with your claws out, surely it will scare them to death.

    Role-Playing Notes:
Your a Khajiit Monk Fight in Monks robes or any robes buffed with restoration, leave only heavy gauntlets on to increase hand to hand damage, but your also wise and you know this doesn't always go to plan, even for the best of us. So keep your two scimitars and armour at the ready to equip when the fight is hard. First and foremost this is a hand to hand fighting style, scimitars are for when there more advanced at a later level.

    P.S
This was my first build so constructive criticism is great and depending on how ive done expect to hear many more builds i have just couped up in my heavy ready to explode out onto all your screens..... :P

A perk by level distribution (eg 10th, 25th, 50th) would be desirable.  Personally, I think builds over 50th are pointless.  However, if a build has perk distributions for other levels, then they may get my interest.

Although you've obviously did a lot of lore research,  I think goutfang martial artists should fight almost solely with their claws.  Quoting the wiki (sorry I tried to find a better source):   'While the majority of Khajiit prefer to use their razor-sharp and retractable claws as weapons in numerous forms of Khajiiti martial arts like Goutfang, Whispering Claw and Rawlith Khaj, many have mastered the use of the sabre, scimitar, dagger, and longbow.'   Although the sentence is a bit ambiguous, I read this as 'most fight with their claws, while many others use weapons such as...'    Admittedly, this was all a minor point, and contained a bit of conjecture on my part.  Some arguments in your favor:  nothing prevents this khajiit from fighting with either unarmed or armed; plus most real-life martial arts have weapon forms, so I may be totally wrong.  (Vix?)

For rp purposes a good prefix for a character name would be 'Do' (warrior).

If I see a perk/level distribution, then this will get a +1 for me.  (I rarely go back to read a build a second time without prompting.  If/when you make an update to this build, feel free to leave a msg on my wall.)

Wow, nice job! I might try this soon. +1 like

This sounds like my Khajiit monk Raiq. The only difference it that he only used claws for combat and used alteration for defence.

Good build btw, gets a like from me.

Hehe, so far I'm the martial arts 'master' around these parts  Though Vix knows a good bit about stuff too, I'll add my thoughts

Yes, most martial arts have numerous weapon forms and despite the heavy unarmed training (Especially from a onlooker viewpoint it seems even more heavily focused on unarmed) we do use weapons and a real martial artist would use weapons when he/she could. Even a fan (Chinese folding kind of fan) inlaid with metal is a weapon so... Yeah  And scimitars are basically what we have of broadswords which is a very common and effective chopping weapon. I'd say the both is a more realistic approach to a martial artist but if you really want to be with the lore then focus on one, they do have claws so they're more effective the hands themselves. I can't imagine a tiger claw from a Khajiit. Instead of having your flesh ripped and literallly and powerfully clawed at you'd pretty much shred their skin...

Khajiit probably had more open hand (claw) training due to the fact that (a) cat-like claws are good weapons themselves, and they're always with you, and (b) the whole slavery issue w/ Khajiits (slaves aren't usually allowed weapons).  I agree about weapons in real-life open-hand martial arts, even the 'softer' styles make use of weapons (eg Aikido use staffs, wooden swords and knife,  T'ai Chi has sword training, etc).  In fact, I could not think of a single real-life martial art that didn't incorporate weapon training - eventually.  Of course there are some martial arts that incorporate weapons from the onset (eg. different forms of fencing, or kyudo (archery)).

Personally, if I were making a martial artist khajiit, I would wait until later levels before I would take up weapon training.  Weapon training usually comes after gaining some profenciency in open hand.  That's one reason that I wanted to see some level/perk spread.

As I said it was a minor point.  I was asking Vix about the lore issue, not martial arts - although he's very knowledgeable on both points (especially weapons).

Yeah, that's what I was saying. The potency of such claws combined with martial arts is pretty devestating if you think about it, a simple grab that at master level can be used to also puncture holes in someones arm will become even more effective if you can simply slice through. And that's just one thing.

And as for soft styles, pretty much every style of martial arts is both. Mantis may seem soft at the beginning but as you progress you learn hard techniques too. Most Martial arts will start with one and end with the other though not scrap the first one but you learn both. Even Tai-chi is used hard at later levels. All that 'internal' training can make you able to do those things very hard and powerfully. It's rather complicated I can barely understand it myself  It's all really about Chi.

You know, there's even a 'Yoga with a spear'

But yeah, that's a very good idea. Give him weapons later on as he learns. Personally once you get to 'level 2' at my school which takes 9 months if you pass all the tests you can start learning weapons on the side on Saturdays. Though I focused on the spear mainly this 'rotation' which I liked alot.

And yeah, he definately does know a crapload about differant weapons and even some martial arts stuff too. I just thought I'd give my martial artist novice 2 cents

  • May 10, 2012

Yeah i agree, but i have said fight with claws and use scimitars/sabers as a back up as it also says they've mastered the use of them.

But yeah i need perk distribution thanks, will update and msg you :P

Edit: Perk Distribution and CLEARLY point out it is a hand to hand fighter who later goes on to master sword play too.
