So I just need to track down a Soul Trap staff. I've been playing this game since launch, yet somehow I've managed to never once come across one of those.

You get loads of staff drops in mage dungeons (even on Novice mages) or you can just buy one from a court wizard/general goods store.

Good call. I'll see if I can find a mage dungeon in my travels.

lol Nevermind, problem solved. I found a weapon with a soul trap enchantment on it in Bleak Falls Barrow. What luck!

Quick update, just wanted to let you know that I'm almost level 10 with my bard, and I'm loving the build. It's a lot of fun and it's great for RP.

I had a question. Would you personally upgrade Haggling beyond the first perk at any later levels? Do you feel that the discount on items would be worth it?

If I was going to put more perks into Speech I'd probably put them further up in both sides of the tree, far more valuable than a mere 5% improvement in shop prices.

This build is so awesome, I created an account just so I could comment on it.

I am currently (obsessively) playing your Arcane Bladesman (level 40 and still going! what a fun character!!) but I might have to take a break from him to play the Bard.

One of my biggest laments in Skyrim is that I find all these cool weapons or staves or whatever but I never use them - either because a) my character, for RP or min/max reasons doesn't use that kind item/weapon or b) I can already smith/enchant better.  I mean it's a bummer to go on this big quest for Galdur Blackblade or the Pale Blade or the Staff of Corruption and then find yourself saying "meh, I guess I'll sell it ... or stick it in the weapon rack of mansion #2 ... maybe ..."

What makes this character so awesome is she/he is set up to use ALL these items, and to great effect.  I can easily see myself using the atronach forge to make different staves (something I've never done) and she could really outfit a follower with epic gear.  (Mjoll duel-wielding staves anyone?)  What an awesome idea. Perking up destruction makes these items more useful (including ones with drain health) Plus using staves saves on magicka so I can put more points into health/stamina. Brilliant.

Lastly, I love how this build uses illusion spells in a more offensive way.  I got tired of hiding around the corner waiting for people to kill each other. This looks way more fun.  Kudos to you, sir!

Oh and I have a random tip for people, no idea where to post it so I'll just say it here, since it might apply to this build: if you ever soul trap the "wrong" soul into a gem (i.e. common soul into your grand soul gem, dammit) you can simply drop the gem on the ground, pick it up, and it will be empty.  Discovered that by accident and it saves me some frustration.

    Cheers!
