Welcome everyone to my lucky seventh build, and what a gem I have for you today. Over years here in Vault I have seen my fair share of Viking/Berserker/Valkyrie , using obvious connection between Nords of Skyrim and Vikings of northern Europe. I have always wanted to add something unique to that same category. So I delved into lore of old Norse and came up with...

leaves of trees swished as Y'ffre answered "Your love shall live forever engraved in my bones."
wind blew as Kynareth hummed "Your love may sing and I will hear."
setting sun stretched his rays as Magnus yawned "Your love be blessed by my light to shine in dark."
twilight shadows creeped as Azura promised "Your love shall see more than what other see."
night shrouded world in silence as Nocturnal whispered "Your love shall be able to deceive."
Little moon shone as Mara smiled "Your love shall share my compassion so evil shall not reach her."

Race: Nord. Aside from being RP friendly, Nords start with a 50% resistance to Frost magic giving us a nice boon against majority of our opponents. Then we have Battle Cry which is great for playing on fear of magic that runs rampant in Skyrim.

Stone: Atronach early on. Once Atronach Perk is acquired in Alteration switch to Lord. 25% overall magic resistance will be a welcome addition and save us some perks. +50 armor rating won't hurt either.

Stat Distribution: 3/1/0 A deep magic pool will be needed not only for high level Restoration magic to turn undead, and heal our follower but for all other tricks up our sleeve.

Quests: Heart of Dibella, Main Quest, A Night to Remember, College of Winterhold. White Phial, Dark Ancestor,  Wolf Queen Awakened, Laid to Rest, A Scroll for Anska, Pale Lady, Ghost of old Hrolden, Siege on Dragon Cult, Blessings of Nature,  Forgotten Names. Dawnguard.

    Major Skills: Restoration, Destruction, Speech

    Minor Skill: Alteration, Sneak, Illusion

Clothes: Mythic Dawn Robes, Arch-Mage Boots, Savos Arens Amulet, Enchanted Ring, Shrouded Hood

Weapons: Staff of Storm Atronach, Mehrunes Razor

Spells: Ebony Flesh, Paralyze, Lightning Rune, Chain Lightning, Lightning Cloak, Turn Undead(Leveled versions), Vampires Bane,  Guardian Circle

Shouts: Storm Call, Soul Tear, Become Ethereal, Call of Valor. Battle Fury

Powers: Agent of Dibella, Companions Insight, Secret of Arcana, Seeker of Sorcery, Sailor's Repose

Blessings: Blessing of Julianos(Skyrim) Blessing of Azura(Solthiem)

Seer is a mash up between a combat mage and supporting healer, all while by being supported by other worldly spirits. primary role of Seer is as a healer, and determiner of fate in battle. goal will be to keep your human follower alive while receiving help from Spirit world. You may notice that "Spirits" are being mentioned quite a bit and we have no perks placed into Conjuration. However for any of those undead or Necromancers their powers will be virtually useless against us.

Inspiration behind The Seer comes from some reading on Ancient Norse, no not Vikings but some scraps I was able to find that predate the Viking Age. Tying together support from spirits in her endeavors, amazing Norse "wand-wed" for finally giving me a reason to use staffs, and drive to help people but always for a price. A Shaman of Fortune if you will. Speech is an important part of build not only does it increase amount of money we make, or make it to where we can sell our goods to anyone, but most importantly extra push in dialogue situations is huge since we are suppose to be a healer/goodish girl. Besides sometimes a well worded trick is the best magic there is.

A somewhat different approach is taken during combat. Using Sneak and anywhere between 1-4 followers you can just sit back and fill the support role, but it is also important to make sure odds are always in your favor which can be accomplished in most situations with turning undead. Should you need to attack, yourself Vampires Bane will not damage any of your followers, and depending on your "husbands" location Chain Lighting is used a very differently than normal. Think of it as supporting your very own beloved Atronach.

In the case of Atronachs, on other hand, is less certain. Storm Atronachs, for example, appear to be highly intelligent.

    Wand Wed:

Sticking with lore and my desires to do something different (at least for me) this was the absolutely perfect chance to play with juicy staffs. I will admit right now this idea came from a workshop success story I did a while back on another build but with a few tweaks and maybe a step or two further. A lot of builds use the Atronach stone but few of them use it as a mechanic, and that was part of goal here. Straight out of Helgen you'll want to go pick it up and head to Markarth.

A rose from a Prince. Daedric Prince of debauchery Sanguine will provide you a drunken good time and at end of a night you will never forget he will give you his Rose. mechanic works same way with this staff as with the other and gives you options in combat. During this early portion of the game you will also want to be on look out for following items, Void Salts, Broom Orichalcum Ingot, Filled Black/Grand Soul gem.

Once you have the aforementioned items in place head over to the College of Winterhold and go on down to the Atronach Forge to craft your Staff of Storm Atronach. Think of it not as a weapon but a beacon to call your spirit lover to you in times of great need. Even if he is busy and can not come right away he will still make his presence felt. Or in purely gameplay mechanics speak. With Atronach Stones 50% Absorption of magic, 50% of time the spell will be absorbed replenishing your magicka substantially.

At later levels (Once the Atronach Perk is purchased) we will drop the stone in favor of the Lord and you will then find Stormy comes to your aid 70% of time. This is meant to show a strengthening in the bond between you and your spirit lover.

    Gear and Weapons

Mythic Dawn Robes - While only enchanted with 75% Magic Regeneration they are unique and look much more appealing than your standard run of mill mage wear. Pick up a set that does not have a hood, as there is a head piece for this build.

Shrouded Hood - I didn't want to have anything to do with Dark Brotherhood, but wanted something that matched nicely with robes. bonus to Sneak is very useful in early stages of battle, and I personally love Red/Black combo.

Thalmor Gloves - Once again taken more for looks than function, but still should be enchanted with Shock Resistance. Even with no perking in enchanting we can still combine this with our next piece of gear to pull off around 62% Resist Shock, protecting our magic pool from those pesky lightning spells that make it through. It also fits well with theme of build married to spirit of lightning.

Arch Mage Boots - Boots are least seen piece of apparel and as such I went for function here. Hey 40% Resist Shock YES PLEASE!

Mehrunes Razor - I was in the market for a self defense option in extreme circumstance and Lord Dagon provided it. For a mage or anyone that doesn't perk one handed at all this is best dagger you can have period. It is the only weapon EVER that can kill any enemy in just one hit.

I will leave the choice of ring and amulet up to you, but I went with Savos Aren's Amulet and a Gold Ruby Ring enchanted to reduce Destruction spell cost.

    Questing and Guidelines

The Seer is at her core a chaotic neutral . She values her freedom, especially her freedom from societies preconceived notions of what a Nord woman should be. (Olfina Grey-Mane) While capable of killing for selfish reasons there must be a sense of balance. For every wrong there must be a right. Shes has no problem serving another persons interest as long as she is well rewarded for her trouble.

Like anyone gifted in arcane she must learn to control her urges. How better to do that than at the temple of Dibella. A Night to Remember also ties into temple and honestly it's my favorite Daedric Quest in game. But I don't think that sisters at temple take to kindly to your wild night with Sanguine and they send you on your way soon enough.

As you travel to  the College of Winterhold in search of answers if you come across anyone in need of help from some type of "darker" force consider these acts of contrition for mistakes made.

A traveling companion is a must and I would suggest to give anyone a shot regardless of their skill. Not only will it help you level Restoration by healing them, but it can get lonely in wilds all by ones lonesome.

The main quest is only started to access shouts however if your Seer is in a particularly benevolent mood there is no reason she couldn't save world. Where as Dawngaurd is a absolute must. Not only does it give us access to some great spells, but we are after all a healer of people and vampires are little more than a disease in your sight.

Being Neutral an argument could be made for some of other Daedric quests in game but I didn't feel the juice was worth the squeeze for most part, but Pieces of Past will be done to take Razor or not I will leave up to you.

Remember you are a professional, and you see nothing wrong with moving from hold to hold selling your spiritual services...

    Combat: Tactics and Support

Healer, Storm Mage, Friend these are just some of the words that could be used to describe The Seer. Followers are a huge part of this build, and keeping them up and alive is just as vital. Restoration is one of the skills that normally takes some time to level up, but between healing yourself and ally, turning the undead and burning them to ash with sun spells it will level extraordinarily quickly.

I highly suggest melee followers to keep the enemies attention off of you, in this way you can be controller of fate. Some one tanky that can take a kicking. Quiet Casting plus Sneak allows you to sit back and watch battle play out and keep your follower standing. While many followers suit this role, Frea of Skaal also being somewhat of a shaman is a great fit not to mention she can kick some serious ass.

Most of our enemies are undead so AOE sun spells are a great way to do some serious damage without risk of injuring our follower. Another great combo when you have summoned your loving Atronach once he is away from your follower and surrounded by enemies hit him with chain lighting for a great effect on target, it will not hurt Stormy but whatever is around him is toast.

When going gets tough just remember most important thing is to keep your followers up and running. Grand Healing is one of greatest quickie fixes you can get. At higher levels Bane of Undead can give you breathing room you will need for party maintenance. There isn't much need to be overly conservative with your magicka pool at anytime thanks to absorption from spells out of the staff. On the extraordinary off chance that your magic is completely depleted and there is no more charge in your staff, that's when you pull out Mehrunes Razor and do mop up.

    Old Norse Magic in Skyrim

One of the biggest challenges in my opinion to any mage build that is based off something besides TES is translating magic into Tamriel. So I delved into research the magic of ancient Norse more specifically their Seers. I chose to limit myself to spells/shouts that fit in with lore. Which actually worked out very well and kept menu shifting to a minimum.

Seior - A type of Shamanistic Sorcery used for dealing with spirits and healing, using rituals and symbols.

Spells include: Arniels Shade, Close Wounds, Grand Healing, Bane of Undead, Poison Rune, Chain Lightning, Lightning Rune, Lightning Cloak, Flesh Spells, Detection Spells. Ash Rune

Galdr - Spells using language. This was easier of two. Why? cause SHOUTS.

Storm Call, Soul Tear, Become Ethereal, Call of Valor. Battle Fury, Aura Whisper and Drain Vitality.

    Conclusion

Thanks for taking time to read. Feel free to leave some comments and likes maybe... This was a great time and really helped me bring some balance to my recent Skyrim playing. You will all find out what that means in a few days. Until next time Maniac.

Hi Manik. I will be playing with the Atronach summoning unreliability with the Atronach stone in a future build, but for a different reason, but very awesome that you put this in your build. Just a note though, if a person plays on PC with the patches, this "glitch" is removed and atronachs are summoned without issue. I enjoyed thoroughly the incorporation into Old Norse lore.

Some really nice aspects of this build. Enchanting, but not perking it. The clothing combo is rather nice. How did you kill Astrid? Razor? She is one tough cookie for lower levels.

My only criticism right now is that I think the first image of your build is already in use in another build, titles I think The Medium. Might want to swap it out, but that's just me.

    Good work Manik!

Thanks for the like and the comment. The lore was actually really interesting since it was pre Viking age. Astrid pfft.... She was no match for Stormy.

And thanks for the heads up on the pic.

Nice build manik. One thing I noticed was that you had salvos arenas amulet and a gold ruby necklace. You had two necklaces and no ring

Yeah I typoed. Thanks for catching that it should be fixed now. Also thanks for the like.

Blah, I like the other picture better. Deeeeez one looks too sloooty.

Oh man, the temptation to betray the Dawnguard in exchange for the Ring of the Erudite is much less of a gnawing hunger with Sanguine Rose absorption.  This is a great concept!

My only critique really is that you need to proof-read the quest names.
