A Passive aggressive build that utilizes Cloaks and Paralysis Spells for offensive and blocking and alteration for defense while having alchemy as a supporter. Interesting concept with beautiful explanations on the combat and calculations on the statistics of damage. Damage output can vary for those who attempt to try this build based on several of factors. I take I that this one was based on using no patches? Its still increditable though. The setup and time put into this while being a "Blade" ( Build ) in the dark. I'm truly amazed reading this. It was worth the almost year long wait. Kudos!

Aha, so you meant the Shadow one, not the Nether.

You guys certainly didn't understand me.
If I would be someone that always opts for maximum dmg, I wouldn't have put so much effort into finding out all the stuff to make the crappiest spell in the game work, lol.

Thanks Ry, it was a amazing build to playthrough, especially once everything got together.

Damage output can vary for those who attempt to try this build based on several of factors

That's one of my favorite parts of the build, I didn't take the damage as high as it could go (Fortify Restoration to boost some effects, Azhidal, Aspect of Terror, etc.) and it isn't as low as it could be, each player can slightly change it without effecting much of the build by simply adding or taking away a part of it.

It's really one of my most adaptable builds, you can focus on an element for instance, a power level, easily add in other Paralyzing effects, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the like and the detailed comment Ry

    @Relycs

Alright man, fair enough. I did check the math, and on Expert it would be possible to take out an Overlord with a God's Wrath, it'd take most of the duration but it would be possible.

No problem. I want to thank you for the ideas you've given me to try focusing more on using cloaks in battle. I'll be sure to play this characters archetype.

These kinds of experiments are what I live for play this game!

Sorry, I'm catching up on builds, and I finally got to this one (that title has been haunting me for the past month... I love builds that use the Paralyze spell :D).

This is a really cool concept, and a great way to use Paralyze without it getting crazy OP. I have yet to try a shield mage, and this seems to be the one that really speaks to me... going paralysis and passive damage sounds like a lot of fun, and I've always felt a little guilty that I haven't really explored the Block skill like I should. I may very well give this a whirl over the summer :D

It's insane Shin, I'm so glad that you want to give it a spin, the use of Paralyze really is awesome.

Now I know that this build focuses so much on some of those DLC items, so unless you've gone and bought them (you haven't complained about not having anytime due to playing them then I'd say probably not ) so I'll leave a few of my recommendations on how to play it without them.

There isn't really anything that can help with either Auriel's Shield or the Rune Shield, but the main problem will be adding another source of damage that you can't get with the Rune Shield now... I'd either add in Jzargo's Flame Cloak (and pick up some Fire Resist Enchantments) or add in an extra Destruction perk and take on Walls as another source of damage. Walls gives you a chance to inflict 3 different types of damage at the same time which is just really awesome.

I'm pretty sure the only potion you wouldn't be able to easily make is this one

Remedy of Respite (Fortify Restoration 119% and Restore 149 Stamina):

Pearl + Small Pearl +Yellow Mountain Flower'

Pearls are too hard to reliably find without Hearthfire (You don't have it either do you?) and obviously YMF won't be available. I'd just skip out on the Stamina one, it's not quite as useful because there's no drain from the Rune Shield. Salt Pile + Abecean Longfin should work best for Restoration

Hope that helps a bit Shin, I still can't get over how awesome it is that you've decided to give this a shot, really can't get over it. Let me know how it goes, it can be a bit slow in combat, but I hope the Walls can help that out a bit.
