    The Liberator

Note: This Character makes heavy use of Dawnguard Content. I also used Hearthfire Content but it's not needed. Dawnguard however is.

Well after visiting this blog regulary for two years and reading amazing builds, I thought I might join the blog one day. And after having a spark of creativity I joined the Skyrim Blog. Now I proudly present my very first character build.

Do you like Batman? I bet you like Batman. Everybody likes Batman! And this guy. He is the Batman of Skyrim. And because in Skyrim everybody is a bloody psychopath this Batman will end up with a higher body count then Superman in Man of Steel (not guaranteed). But because just being Batman isn't enough of a selling-point for me, this playthrough will have more slow-motion than 300. Do you like epic slow-motion? This is the build for you.

It is not known much about this black and red clad fighter for freedom.
He fights with blade, marksmanship and stealth to protect the innocent and end tyranny.
Even if he needs to make friends in the underworld and steal from the ones, he has sworn to protect.
Because in the end, there is no bigger property than freedom.

Race: Any Human Race; for my playthrough I chose an Imperial

    Standing Stone: Thief, Shadow

    Stat Spread: 0/1/1

    Main Skills: Archery, 1-Handed, Sneak

Minor Skills: Block, Light Armor, Alchemy, Smithing

Shouts: Slow Time; I used the ancient power of bucketmancy to get the last word in Labyrinthian. If is said you'll get slowmo, you'll get slowmo.

Quests: Main Quest, Thieves Guild, Civil War, Destroy the Dark Brotherhood, Laid to Rest, Lost to the Ages, Dragonborn, Dawnguard

    Skills

Archery: You know whats cool? Crossbows are cool. You know whats even more cool golden crossbows. Crossbows represent the future. But because crossbows are slow, we also use a bow. And because we are cool we take a golden bow.

1-Handed: Ninjas. Everybody likes Ninjas. They are like Batman. But they kill us. And you know what lets us look even more like a Ninja (Besides our edgy armor combo)? A Katana.

Sneak: We don't hide in the shadows. We are the shadows. If we don't want it, they won't see us coming. If we want, they will still have troubles with it. Either way: they die.

Block: We don't take hits. Not even our sword takes hits. Either we move out the way with our superior reflexes or we bash them with our sword. (I said you'll get your slowmo)

Light Armor: Besides the always useful Wind Walker perk and the protection if we screw up, this skill tree allows us to succesfully use a super-edgy armor combination.

Alchemy: We are cunning. We are strong. And when this isn't enough we take steroids.

Smithing: This three-perk-investment will make sure that our equipment isn't just edgy but also efficient. And it grants us an endless supply of bolts and arrows.

    Equipment:

Tier 1: Linwe’s Hood, Thieves Guild Armor, Linwe’s Gloves, Linwe’s Boots, Amulet of Talos, Blade's Sword, Steel Dagger, Hunting Bow, Steel Crossbow

Tier 2: Nightingale Hood, Red Vampire Armor, Shrouded Gloves, Shrouded Boots, Amulet of Talos, Blade's Sword, Steel Dagger, Zephyr, Enhanced Steel Crossbow

The armor supports our playstyle in so many ways. And we look like a ninja.

The Blades Sword is a good looking weapon that fits the armor and it benefits from the steel smithing perk is a katana. 'Nough said.
A Stealth Attack from the Crossbow is fatal. The Hunting Bow/Zephyr gives us a fast firing weapon for open combat.

    Potions and Poisons:

    Reflex Enhancer

    Fortify Alteration

    Grass Pod +River Betty

This Potion allows us to use Slow Time even longer. With it you are able to slay whole group of enemies and when you kill the last, the first won't have touched the ground yet.

    Pain Killer

    Restore Health

Imp Stool/Swamp Fungal Pod +Wheat/Blue Mountain Flower

This Potion allows us to heal ourselves in the midst of battle. I lost count of how many times this simple concoction saved my life.

    Sense Sharpener

    Fortify Marksman

    Canis Root +Juniper Berries

With the aid of this Potion our senses get sharpened and we can hit our target much more precise with both bow and blade.

    Muscle Relaxant

    Paralyze

Imp Stool/Swamp Fungal Pod +Canis Root

This Poison stops heavy hitters like Bandit Chiefs from killing us, while we are occupied with their henchmen.

    Concentrated Acid

    Damage Health+Lingering Health Damage

Imp Stool +Red Mountain Flower +Slaughterfish Egg/Slaughterfish Scales

This aggressive poison supports us in fights with Dragons.

All these ingredients can be harvested in Windstead Manor, if you get a greenhouse/garden and a fish hatchery.

    Gameplay:

    • If you can go undetected either use the crossbow or the dagger engage in preventive self-defense.
    • In open combat against mages shoot them with arrows and sing Can you feel the arrow in your knee?.
    • In open combat against groups shoot them with arrows and sing You got an arrow in your knee. Or just go all Neo and use Slow Time and commit a series of very rewarding homicides.
    • In open combat against melee enemies use Slow Time and Quick Reflexes to let your enemies feel slow and stupid like they are. Then free them of their worthless existence.
    • In combat against lone archers use the following highly advanced and effective tactic: I call it Bash-Cut-Cut.
When the archer pulls the string, bash him. Then swing your blade against him. When he tries to pull the string again, bash him.
    • Use the crossbow against flying dragons. When they lost enough health, they are forced to land. Equip your bow and hold your distance.
If you encounter a sleeping dragon, use your crossbow to land a sneak attack. You were expecting a joke? You don't make jokes about dragons. If you do, they'll get so angry, they'll be breath fire.

    Quests

Some say, he is an Agent of Hammerfell, trying to help Skyrim to achieve the same autonomy Hammerfell has.
Others say, he is a Nord, whose parents died in the Great War.
Some even say, he is a descendant of Tiber Septim himself, unpleased with the current empire.
    But two things are sure.
    He fights for freedom.
And the Empire as well as the Thalmor see him as an anarchist, they want to get rid of.

    Essential Quests

Thieves Guild: Friends in the underworld are always useful and the skills learned here can be useful in your Quest for freedom. You may have to get your hands dirty, but you aren't a saint. Who is these days, anyway. Required for endgame-gear.

Destroy the DB: These assassins have terrorized Skyrim long enough. End their dark doings. Required for endgame-gear.

Dawnguard: Free Skyrim of the Vampire Menace. Required for endgame weapons.

Lost to the Ages: After learning much about Dwemer Technology from Sorine Jurard, the Liberator explores the ruins of Arkngthamz and meets the ghost of an explorer. He decides to help her. Required for endgame weapons.

Main Quest: The dragons are returning. Skyrim is faced by a threat that will send back mankind into dark ages of slavery. The Liberator will do everything to end this threat. The quest “A Blade in the Dark” has to be at least begun to gain your Blades Sword, if you don’t want to kill some innocent guy.

    Suggested Quests

Civil War: The Liberator wants to see Skyrim freed of a dying empire.

Laid to Rest: The Liberator destroys a group of vampires who want to get control of Morthal. After this you are able to buy land in Hjaalmarch to build a base on it.

Dragonborn: Miraak plans his return. A great threat to the free will of Solstheims citizens, he has to be destroyed.

    I'm fast...

If you choose to play this Character, I hope you will have as much fun as I had!

I appreciate constructive criticism. English isn't my native language, so my grammar probably won't be the best.

I’d be really happy if you give my other build a look!

Solid first build, SoulLess! The formatting could use some polish, but the character looks like a fun one, and the guide is quite clear. Nice job!

Do you think two-handed would work for this build?

Gameplaywise: Totally, as i never had anything offhand. For stealth a smithed dagger should be powerful enough to balance the lack of perks in armsman.

Aesthetically: I thing the only weapon that would work would be the ebony blade or maybe a ebony sword.

Roleplaywise: If you think about using the ebony blade I d recommend to level it by killing the dark brotherhood. Otherwise i don't see any problem with using a two handed weapon.
