I started playing with this build and I think it's one of the best magic based character I've played, I'm having a lot of fun, really well put toghether, few spells but a lot of resources when you get the hang of it!

It's interesting to see how those Novice spells can really develop into an amazing bag of tricks. The early availability makes it such an easy build to pick up. I've had non-Mage players give this a go and really enjoy it. Thanks Algae!

Alastor, I really enjoyed playing your Oracle build and loved the magic combo's I was pulling off which is why I was in search for a similar build and this one was recommended for me, and it's already got a + 1 from me, again another more than good job!

Now I'm not a massive fan of enchanting and don't want to use it or perk it at all. To replace the enchantments lost for this I was thinking of changing the atronach stone to an advanced atronach stone to counter the magicka regen loss but not completly to 100% spell absorbtion but just a little bit more. Albino said I should use alchemy instead of enchanting to give my character that "oomph" and enable me to create the potions needed to make the advanced atronach perk. Albino also said I should change the race from Breton to High Elf or something if I were to use the advanced atronach.

What do you think I should do to counter not using enchanting, whether thats skills, race or clothes/armor?

Also would going up to adept destruction for cloaks work by taking perks out of any other skills or not?

Easiest way to counter a lack of enchantments is to pick up the aring of Erudite from the Volkihar. It offers all the Regen of those enchantments and extra Magicka in one ring.

The biggest problem I see you having with the Advanced Atronach is that you can't turn off the stone's power at your will. The only way to Conjure the Familiar successfully 100% of the time is to turn off the stone's power through the Aetherial Crown. You'd have to drink a potion everytime you re-equip the stone to activate the glitch again. Talk about a hassle. Just drop enchanting and pick up the Ring of Erudite; the playthrough would be much more streamlined with no crafting and you wouldn't have changed much of the build.

I'd still roll a Breton for extra magic resistance and access to Dragonskin for 100% absorption. Depends on how effective you want to be against spellcasters though. I don't think the High Elf Magicka boost would be all that helpful in the long run except for maybe a little extra Health in the stat distribution instead.

Cloaks could be really helpful for this build! Combined with Quick Reflexes and a Familiar you can weave in between opponents while dishing out damage steadily. Throw your enchanting perks there. I will say that the point of the build was to emphasize the Novice spells but it's your playthrough so make it your own :)

I'm stoked you're enjoying these builds. I can tell you firsthand this is a fun one. Very strategic and engaging.

Yeah, I forgot about the spell absorption glitch when you brought up the Advanced Atronach Stone Jono. Sorry about that. :P

Thanks, I think I'm gonna go for the erudite ring to counter the no enchantments and place 2 extra perks from not having enchanting in the destruction tree to get the flame cloak, as you said although it is a novice spell based build I think I'll try and make my own special ability using flame cloak and think of my own roleplaying reasons for having a higher level adept spell.

I also love the flame cloak idea as in the 2nd photo on this build I can just imagine being surrounded in a flame cloak while still playing exactly the same way. If I use them spare 3/4 perks and put them into alchemy I could create my own potions of magicka, while playing my first no first traveling build and use them in conjuction with flame cloak. It's also my first time questing for the Aetherial Crown!

I'm start this tomorrow, thanks again!

Did you power level any skills like alteration or was it all done without powerleveling?

I kind of incorporated power leveling into my early gameplay to raise Alteration quickly. Basically, if you have the Magicka cast extra flesh spells around opponents you can kill easily because you really want 50 in Alteration early for the Mirage combo. It'll get you through any tough situations. Illusion was leveled fairly naturally through the use of Muffle. No real grinding here. You could train Alteration early on if need be.
