  I would prefer to roleplay thieves who steal/trade for the passion instead of pure greed, he could also want to become thane because he's a pretentious guy rather than expecting a real benefit from it for example lol
  Greed could still be a personality trait as long as gameplay doesn't revolve around it for me, he could also be more envious than greedy if that's more immersive to you.
