Power and Control; The Forces of Order

The most disciplined and focused army ever formed. Jyggalag, the Daedric Prince of Order, strategic and all knowing he led his armies in Oblivion set to conquer and bring to order the writhing, changing, and chaotic lands that his fellow Princes controlled. Over the millennia Order began to consume the Daedric Planes and the Princes grew fearful of his sheer might and willpower. Together they banded against him, trapped him, and cursed him to live as the very thing he hated. Chaos, and for a thousand years he lived as a fool, turning his once beloved plane of Order and Control, into a plane of Madness and Debauchery. Until, after this thousand year torture he returned, and began to destroy and reconquer his island. Yet after but a short time, he returned to the madness and rebuilt the land once more in mockery of his very existence.

This cycle, now known as the Greymarch, continued for countless years. Jyggalag, his army of loyal, 'automaton', daedric Knights and his powerful, magic using, mortal Priests would lead a war that would always end in failure. His Priests scattered and killed by the denizens of the Shivering Isles and his Knights vanquished and vanished to... Gods know where. This continued until Lord Sheogorath, his mad, cursed personality, contacted one Champion of immense power. When he had once again returned to the Plane he fought the Champion, and was summarily... defeated. Yet with this defeat, he was freed. Freed of the curse, freed of the madness, and now free to return to his war, to devote himself to the cause of once again bringing Order to the Lands of Nirn and the Planes of Oblivion.

With that, the Forces of Order retreated from the Shivering Isles, to leave the new Prince of Madness to ascend to godhood as the new Sheogorath. The Forces of Order now met elsewhere, in a new Plane of Oblivion. Jyggalag had recreated the orderly paradise he once called his home, a place of Order and of Control. There his Knights regrouped and reformed over time, and mortals who heard the call found entrance and became his new Priests. In the mortal plane there were rumors of strange disappearances both in the Northern reaches of Skyrim and in the Southern isles of Summerset, men and women vanishing near strange, crystalline obelisks never to be seen nor heard from again.

After many years the world became consumed in the fires of war, and chaos reigned supreme across Tamriel. The Thalmor leading the Dominion to war against the Empire. Hammerfell fighting amongst its factions and fighting Dominion invaders, and even Skyrim saw the Reach overrun with fighting from its native population, the city of Markarth taken for its people. Jyggalag saw this, and even more, and he knew it was time to once again bring Order to the world. Taking his time and planning each move he readied his forces and prepared to send them out into the mortal plane to bring Order and Control.

As time passed the world saw some peace once more. The Dominion and the Empire spoke, and together signed a treaty which brought peace to the lands, or so they had hoped. Hammerfell had thrown out the Thalmor invaders after some time, and Ulfric Stormcloak had driven the natives out of Markarth, bringing what they believed was peace and order to the region. However not all was well, the natives, now called the Forsworn began to raid and fight for control in the Reach once more, Ulfric, in anger of the Dominion and Empire's treaty and what it brought to Skyrim began a rebellion and killed the High King. And thus Jyggalag and his attention drew north to where Chaos and War now was brewing. Sending a small force of Knights and Priests to Skyrim, he began his long awaited plans to conquer all of existence and to bring Order to all.

Mindless, powerful, and blindly loyal to their general and father, the Knights of Order are a foe to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Like automatons they seem to take in damage that would destroy even some of the most powerful knights of the realm of mortals without complaint. Stubborn to a fault they do not seem to care if a dragon breathes in their face or a volley of arrows are blanketing the sky. They stride forward and with a strength worthy of a Dragon they cut down any and all who stand in their Prince's way. The sheer power of their strike is enough to cut through even the strongest Skyforged steel in a single strike. Relentless they will move through the fire and the flames of enemy spellcasters almost absorbing their attacks before decapitating them in one decisive blow.

They seem to have an innate defense that covers their armor, resisting blows, shrugging off lightning, and even absorbing dragonbreath allowing these determined warriors ample time and breath to end any and all within their sight. And their strength is not limited to merely slashing, they are able to block even the largest executioner's swing only to slam them back with enough force that they drop their axe in shock as they find their own head rolling in response.

Their innate defenses also seem to provide something more. As if their very armor jumps from them to their foe, sending them crashing down under the weight of its power. This leaves more chaotic foes, helpless against an onslaught by these Knights, and even if they survive these Knights seem to have many other ways to send them back into the dust.

Not an imaginative lot when it comes to their combat, they simply, when they see a foe or are attacked suddenly, activate their armor's power and then drawing their blade they do not stop until all foes have been killed. Between their powerful strikes, staggering blows, and the mystical power of their armor they are a weapon in daedric form. They have but one goal,to eliminate all enemies of their Prince and to help bring Order to Skyrim one massacre at a time.

    Gameplay: Knights of Order

A solid, heavily armored, magically resistant knight who wields a two handed sword, he's simple but strong. Before most fights you will want to utilize your Alteration to add the extra armor which is necessary in the lower levels and helps in the higher levels to hit that armor cap. This way you can spend less time thinking about how to fight and play like what this guy is, a mindless, and powerful servant of Order. Deadly at lower levels, and a killer as time goes on.

Smithing will provide your weapons and armor and improve them to a Legendary level which can handle even the toughest of enemies. Using Dwarven Smithing you can easily rise through the perks and provide a good early game armor especially with the bonus from Unfathomable Depths. As you reach the higher levels you should be able to perk up and get Enchanting and Smithing to 100 and maxed out to finish your armor and weaponry around level 35.

Letting your Silver Necklace and Ring to provide total Disease and Poison Immunity, you can focus other enchantments elsewhere. Your helm can provide a reduction on Alteration spells and Extra Magicka to use when casting said spells. Your chest piece is best for Health and Healing Regen allowing a passive bonus to your health so you can focus on the fighting. Gloves can provide Two-Handed bonus and Block Bonus, while you can have multiple pairs of boots all with Two-Handed and then the three types of magical resistances allowing for a defense against any magical foe or Dragon.

The Greatsword can be given Paralyze and Absorb Health, allowing again a passive health gain and stunning your enemies more often allowing you ample time to swing as they helplessly watch. With armor and weapon in hand it is simple enough to carve a swath through large groups of enemies. This build is mainly focused in the combat direction so it can be fun to save the epic battles of the major questlines (Windhelm, Miraak, Alduin, and Lord Harkon.) for the end or near about level 35+.

    The Priests of Order

    Race: Altmer

Stone: Mage than Lord or Atronach

    Stat Placement: 4M/1H

    Major Skills: Destruction, Alteration, Enchanting

    Minor Skills: Heavy Armor, Conjuration

Weapons: Shock Spells, Swords of Order (Enchanted Silver Blades), Atronachs

Armor: Robes of Order (Enchanted Vaermina Robes with Enchanted Nordic Carved Gauntlets and Boots), and Zahkriios

Suggested Quests:  Mage's Guild, Destroy the Dark Brotherhood, Civil War Questline - Imperials, All Daedric Quests (Especially Sheogorath's), Main Questline, Blades Questline, Dawnguard Questline, All City Thane Questlines, Black Books, Book of Love

Devout, obediant, and highly intelligent, the Priests of Order are the powerful spellcasters and strategists that make up the the mortal followers of Prince Jyggalag. They come from all walks of life, and all are drawn to the power that is Order. Like their daedric brothers in amongst the Knights they seem to have a preference for heavier armor that seems to have added benefits to it, as if blessed by the Prince himself. A natural armor that can at times overwhelm and send their enemies into a shocked like state. This is further amplified by the powers that these Priests seem to most enjoy using. The natural, draining, and extremely dangerous power of shock spells.

Against lesser foes they seem to absorb blows that come to strike them, and then send them into a shock, letting their foes cower before them as they turn to dust under the extreme power of their spellcraft. Sometimes however they face more enemies than even their chains of lightning can reach, in these times they summon their Prince's servants, lesser atronachs who, like their summoners, seem to prefer the use of the natural, destructive force of lighting. Between the Priests and the Atronach it can be overwhelming to most foes.

The Undead may fear these Priests of Order, as they carry amongst them swords of silver and of great enchantment that burns and destroys Undead flesh easily with but a few swipes. Even enemy spellcasters may find themselves unable to fight when they are paralyzed, or drained of all their magicka while the Priests, even when at a loss of energy, still can strike them without fear as they find their hearts stop and theirs body disintegrate into naught but ash.

Unlike their brothers they are far more intelligent and strategic about their battles. When facing foes of immense power or numbers they bring forth allies and send bolts of lightning into the foes as they face overwhelming odds. When facing Undead they prefer to let their natural armor defend them as they utilize their sword's power to vanquish their foes. Far more political than their brothers, they use influence to bring Order not merely from the ashes of the foes, but from the conquering of the minds of mortals to help weaken their foes, and gain allies for the conquest that is to come.

    Gameplay: Priests of Order

Zealous, tactical, ruthless and dangerous, these Priests can be very fun to play. Right away acquiring some Novice Robes of Destruction (Mages Guild) you will begin to have your basic kit before reaching the higher levels. Having a higher Magicka pool you will be able to activate your flesh spell before sending bolts of lightning towards your foes. Over time you will find that your spells will become more powerful and dangerous, Chain Lightning becoming your basic spell against foes. Early on using Enchanting you can find yourself in Steel Plate armor with an Apprentice or Adept Hood until your have maxed out Enchanting.

Around level 28 - 30 you should be ready to create your robes (bandits begin spawning with Nordic Carved by now) and you can head to Dawnstar to complete Vaermina's quest and you will find now having multiple robes of Vaermina you can experiment with what spells and bonuses are most important to you. (I went with Destruction Reduction and Health Regen so that with my ring and necklace I had almost a full 100% reduction, but not quite for more spellpower.) And what suits your playstyle whether you focus on Destruction as your main weapon or if you prefer to utilize your Atronachs and take cover in the back.

Getting Magical Resistance and Absorbtion is extremely useful for taking on enemy mages, but not absolutely necessary as your own spells drain them quite well enough. Your swords are best when facing Undead but can be used against other foes when your magic has run dry or you wish to face them in close combat. (Twin Enchanted Silver Swords alongside Dragonhide and Ebonyflesh can be a fun break in the spellcaster side into a more spellsword model.)

You should also be able to grab the Dragon Priest mask around level 28 - 30 meaning that this build has its full armor and weaponry, allowing you to continue however and wherever you wish. This allows for a little more travel and politics and so you do not always need to choose the most combative side, gaining friends and influencing enemies can be fun as well, but in combat you can face down even the greatest foes and turn them into mere dust.

    Roleplay

As a servant of Order you seek to bring Order wherever you go, whether that is to end the hostilities of the Stormcloaks and the Forsworn or just clearing out any and all bandits you have much work to do here in Skyrim.

The Curse is now readied to be avenged, do what you can to disrupt the other Prince's plans, such as killing the Madwoman (Sheogorath's servant.) Killing all the cannibals you can find (Disgusting, chaotic, maddening creatures.) or even refusing to follow their Orders (Vaermina, Mehrunes Dagon, and of course Azura.)

Order can be brought through two main ways Power (Knights) and Control (Priests) using your abilities to the fullest you can help bring order to this land through many factions and deaths.

Beyond that it is up to you to decide how you wish to bring Order to the land, whether through Conquest and Destruction or through Leadership and Alliances you have many options available.

    But Wait a Minute...

    The Daedric Prince Himself: Jyggalag

Deciding that he needed to take a more personal touch Jyggalag found himself a strong mortal vessel, very much akin to Sheogorath's new vessel. Building him up he gained himself a fraction of the his old powers, using new techniques to reforge himself anew.

A combination of the two builds with a few changes including his Daedric Artifact Jyggalag is a Roleplay option that allows you a chance to lead the charge of Order across Skyrim as the very master of the armies himself. The Roleplay is a mix as he has taken a mortal vessel so that he can see the chaos through the eyes of his soon to be citizens. This allowed a very different approach to the war that was soon to come, a knowledge gained for strategies to come.

He plays more similarly to the Knight than the Priest, though he has access to more powerful weapon enchantments and he has the ability to call servants from his plane to provide extra backup. Flesh Spells and Two Handed provide the bulk of the combat, where the Atronach provides another ally to make up for the loss of martial prowess when compared with the Knight build.

    Last Thoughts

Getting a chance to replay Oblivion over at friend's house back in early April I began to start up a Knight of Order playthrough when I saw the Factions event, taking the time I played through it then moved on to each member of the Forces of Order. A very important faction to Sheogorath's story and the DLC it was light it terms of the specifics of the Lore, but this allowed for a looser interpretation, as far as I'm concerned the Sheogorath we meet is very likely the former Champion now a Mad God. This was however fun though as it gave me an opportunity to play the Two Handed - Heavy Armor build and have fun decapitating my enemies mindlessly or turning them to dust as a High Elf (Not my favorite race, but worked well for the build in terms of Roleplay especially) This event is definitely going to be one of my favorites as it really brings out the various small gems of Lore or small appearances and can create some awesome builds and Roleplay experiences. Thanks for reading and have fun playing and Roleplaying this build.

Again Comments and Critiques are helpful as always, thanks for reading.

If you have the time I ask that you please read, comment, and play my other builds as well, you can find them on my page:

I like the idea of making all three of the builds for the order of chaos and i liked each idea itself. Great Work.

Thank you very much, it has been a fun, and very long playthrough, but I'm glad they each turned out well.

That's Awesome... And that build remembered me that I need to finish Shivering Isles. Anyway, I might give the Priest of the order a go in the future (Mages/Spellswords interest me a bit more than straight up warriors)

Holy crud, Death, you're hardcore... three builds for the price of one! Your lore reads really well, and I love how you use Alteration as a form of zealotry for your knight; that mindless, heedless, persistent pressure would have to be terrifying to go up against. As for the Priests of Order: love the way you use Heavy Armor on your mage, and the gear choice is sweet (both your knights and priests really are terrifying). Great job! You went the extra mile on this one (twice). BTW--is it just me or does your pic of Jyggalag look like Vincent Price? Also very creepy :D

If you prefer to use Atronachs as your main weapon I would suggest you go with the Lord stone in that case, however either way the absorbtion is not 100% and at least for my playthrough it did not tend to absorb my summons. I tended to use them as planned backup casting them beforehand so that if they were absorbed I could do so again rather than having them be summoned mid battle and be absorbed on me. As well once you get Thralls you can summon them way ahead of time and replace them as necessary allowing you to focus on your own spells more.

Thank you, thank you, I just really wanted the full Faction on this one and I'm glad to see that others think it turned out well as well. The gear choices I think really reflect the style and look that they had in the Shivering Isles, but like the rest of Skyrim they are darker and more realistic whereas Oblivion was brighter and more fantastical.

And yeah... he kinda does remind me of him... speaking of creepy...

The closed imperial helm with the nordic carved armor looks amazing and REALLY makes that version of the character! Great build(s)!
