A good way to get Markarth guard armor, assuming that's the armor you want, is to complete The Forsworn Conspiracy and No one Escapes Cidhna Mine quests. When going back to the shrine of talos you can kill the guards inside the shrine, take their armor, walk back outside and sheathe your weapon and off you go to Cidhna Mine. Kill Madanach and escape. Now you have your armor and you have helped the people of skyrim by stopping the king in rags and the forsworn.
