With great power, comes great responsibility. Well, I forget about responsibility.

    The Corrupt Archmage

    The Build

"To be the Archmage of Winterhold you need to be knowledgeable, a role model, a natural leader and good with spells. Yes, Tar-Eius Medorus, the new Archmage, is different, in a good way I guess. You’ll just have to live with his....liveliness."
-Quote from Onmund to a new member at the College of Winterhold-

Tar has always been cocky, arrogant and excitable, three characteristics that never go well together. But, he always used to get away with it. His parents didn’t care what he did, which gave him the freedom to do what he wanted which included murder, thievery and just overall mischief.

As a young traveler, Tar used to visit the College of Winterhold after stumbling upon it while on an expedition with his brother, Derkeethus. Tolfdir introduced him to magic which Tar was gifted at. Not so much Derkeethus though. He continued in his travels with his new skills (Tar never pointed out that it was Tolfdir who taught him the magic he used. He always used to say he was a ‘Self-taught expert’.) Then learned how to conjure a sword. This helped him greatly as he only had an iron dagger before he learned the spell. Then somehow he found himself joined up with the Thieves Guild, practicing his skills in ‘the trade’.

He later became a member of the College of Winterhold and climbed up the ranks quickly because of his skills. An Archmage and a Master Thief....what could go wrong?

    Race
    : Argonian

    Stats ratio: 3/1/1

    Stone: Ritual

Major Skills: Speech, Alteration, One Handed, Pickpocket

Minor Skills: Sneak, Restoration, Conjuration, Illusion

Shouts:  Become Ethereal, Disarm, Slow Time

    The Skills

Speech: As a Master Thief, he has a way with words. When he needs to be, he can talk his way out of any situation by any means. Also this accompanies the Pickpocket skill. Try to Pickpocket regularly so you can sell those goods you find.

Alteration: For a few spells you will be using, like:
Detect Life, Detect Dead, Paralyze and Telekinesis. Whenever you approach an area, check if there are any enemies using the detect spells.

One-Handed: Your main spell is Bound Sword, so with a high One-Handed skill, you’ll be able to deal more damage. Having your sword only a cast away is good as this is the only offensive skill here.

Pickpocket: The classic Thief skill. Tar always tests his skill and luck through the streets of any hold pick-pocketing strangers as they walk past. If you ever spot a rare/high-costing item in someone’s inventory, take a chance and you might be able to use it or sell it.

    Sneak: To not get caught!

Restoration: Hardly any perks used for these next skills. But I used Restoration skills here to get higher magicka regeneration rate and also whenever your health is lower than 10% you get healed 250 points.

Conjuration: This is being used to optimize the bound sword spell with the bound weapon branch full.

Illusion: Illusion is purely used just to get quiet casting.

    Equipment

    Morokei
    - Magicka regenerates 100% faster.

Necklace of Regeneration - Health regenerates 40% faster

Archmage’s Robes - 15% reduction on all spells cast +50 Magicka and 100% extra Magicka regeneration

Nightingale Gauntlets - One-handed attacks do 15-25% more damage and Lockpicking is 15-25% easier (Varies in level)

Ring of Eminent Alteration - Alteration spells cost 20% less to cast

Nightingale Boots: The wearer is muffled and moves silently

NOTE: Search Radiant Raiment regularly for the jewellery. (You can also get stronger variants so be on the lookout!)

    Gameplay

The role of Tar is fun. Try to be your usual Thief when in holds, if ever you stumble upon the opportunity to obtain something that could get you good gold, pounce upon it.

Tar is an Argonian, and he won’t tolerate anyone who discriminates against his kind and will punish those who do. So he always makes sure that he always has a bounty in Windhelm and causes as much mischief as he can in the city. Try to murder as many people as you can there, stalk them like the Butcher; follow them until they walk down a alleyway then slaughter them. Have you ever hated a member of the College of Winterhold? Then murder them too. You only get a 250 gold fine and the next time you kill a member it will be 500 gold which is pocket change for this character, or just pick their pockets to get your money back. You never liked Savos Aren anyway, he deserved to die. But Tar liked Ancano, his evil aura was so cool, but he died, so you like no one. So you pickpocket every member, like you would do in any hold, and them kill the members you don't like. You have to own every high-value item all the members have and then sell it for lots of gold!

You’re also a hit with the ladies, do their misc quests and marry if you choose.

I have chosen to have a high magicka regeneration rate so to cast the Paralyze spell multiple times. Overall, you have:

    • Magicka regeneration= 250%.
    • Blocks 30% of spells effects.
    • Attacks with swords have 30% chance of getting a critical damage and One-handed weapons do 25% more damage.
    • Ethereal Spirit = When Become Ethereal shout is used, recover health 25% quicker.
    • Histskin ability

    Combat

Whenever you think you could get into a fight, cast detect life and detect dead simultaneously. If you ever see an enemy, then creep up behind them and plant a poison onto them, or use your bound sword to inflict some extra damage because of the Backstab perk. This is normally not going to take them out so use Paralyze then try to take down your enemy before they get over the effects of the spell. If you find yourself on the back foot against an enemy with a weapon then use the Hopeless special ability. Archmage robes can be duplicated by placing them on the right-mannequin in Proudspire, exiting the manor, re-entering, and removing the robes which gives you an extra set to give to your chosen follower.

If you choose  to stay out of action for a certain period of time then use Become Ethereal, and if you meditate on the word of power with Paarthurnax then choose ‘Ethereal Spirit’ which grants you to recover health 25% faster when you use Become Ethereal.

    Recommended Quests

First of all, the obvious ones like The College of Winterhold quests and the Thieves Guild quests. Then the main quests and you could do the Dark Brotherhood questline. I have also noted that you should try to do misc objectives for women too but also, if an NPC says something like “There will be a reward if you do......” then do it, as Tar is too greedy and too curious for his own good.

    Special Ability

    Hopeless

You can steal your enemy’s weapon and they can’t do anything about it, which leaves them to fight with their fists which are usually not as strong.

Disarm + Paralyze and (or) Telekinesis (to pick up enemies weapon)

Pretty good, but you'll want to rethink your special moves. X-Ray vision isn't special at all, any mage with alteration can do it, really the same with Hopeless, which can be done by any alteration mage who uses shouts. Special moves should be key combos, not tacked on stuff. They should be something your build needs to do to survive, something you came across while playing and thought "gosh I need that in my build". These moves don't seem special, and don't seem to massively benefit the build. Not all builds need special builds, and plenty do fine without.

What Raidriar said. I would also expand on the gameplay/roleplay to complete his corruption. Right now he sounds more like a mage who goes through the Thieves Guild questline. Make him a little more corrupt perhaps.

Since you're Argonian, you can almost always use the racial as a special move. Histskin + Equilibrium equals powerful lizard mage.

"To be the Archmage of Winterhold you need to be knowledgeable, a role model, a natural leader and good with spells. Yes, Tar-Eius Medorus, the new Archmage, is different, in a good way I guess. You’ll just have to live with his....liveliness."
-Quote from Mirabelle Ervine to a new member at the College of Winterhold-

How does this work? Is Mirabelle talking to the new member from the afterlife or something?

Why bother getting the Necklace of Regeneration and Ring of Eminent Alteration when you can get the Necklace of Revival and Ring of Peerless Alteration?

Your second special ability isn't special at all. It's literally just "use Detect Life/Dead." I advise dropping it.

If I were you, I'd try to edit out the compass in the second to last picture, or at the very least crop it out.

This is just my opinion, but, I think the Spiderman quote, even variations of it, are overly cliche, You might want to consider throwing it out.

Personally, I find that having all 5 perks of Light Fingers is overkill, so you could easily get away with throwing them out and putting the perks somewhere else. I also don't think you need Poisoned, since you can always apply any poisons you find to the Bound Sword (since you aren't using Alchemy, I'm assuming you aren't making your own poisons). Considering you don't even make any references to using it outside of listing it in the perk spread, I'm also assuming that it's not an important perk to the build. With the extra perks, you can put them into Respite, Regeneration and Apprentice/Adept Restoration for better healing.

So, that's a pretty decently-sized list of complaints, but overall, this is still a nice build. +1

The Mirabelle is nothing I can defend, it was a mistake!

I have bothered with the Necklace and Ring because I was told that in my last build the jewelry would be extremely hard to get so I lowered it a level but I have now added a statement saying that you can find stronger variants.

I have also deleted the detect move so that should be fine and I have also cropped the picture to not have the compass.

About the perks, I will have to edit them when I have enough time!

Thank you for your input though!

    No problem

Personally, I find that generic enchanted jewelry (not armor) is easy enough to find by going to Radiant Raiment and repeatedly resetting their inventory, but to each his own. Personally, what I do in situations like this is simply say "Necklace of Health Regeneration" and "Ring of Peerless Alteration."

One other small nitpick: now that you've taken out the other move, you should probably change the "Special Abilities" section to "Special Ability" :P

I did mean to do that but forgotten!

    I'm glad you like it!

I've fixed the special moves now too.

Great idea for the build just seems a little short. When I read Corrupt Archmage I was expecting a little more corrupt you know hoarding everything in the college in his quarters or something keeping all power to himself.

I've added some more evil antics into the Gameplay section.
