    The Blackguard Agent

    Introduction:

You were born and raised in Windhelm, living with your mother in the attic of Revyn Sadri’s store. In order to pay for rent, you would stalk the streets, eyeing off the Nords and their fat pockets. Carefully selecting your mark and taking just enough to not be noticed. You and your mother have been poor ever since your father had died, murdered by a Nord in a brawl. It was a wager, 100 gold to the winner. It was sport for your father. The local Nords did not care for a grey skin besting one of their own, and followed him him through the streets. They each in turn challenged him to a brawl, with your father getting weaker and weaker until he could fight no more. You were able to keep your mother fed and Revyn off your back with your natural talents as a thief. This purgatory was shattered one night as a pair of drunks burst into Revyn’s store demanding that the Imperial spy was to be put to death. They dragged your mother by the hair through the streets of Windhelm and threw her down in front of the Blacksmith Quarters, forcing her face into the smelter. You drew a knife, and stabbed one of them in the back. The other Nord was quick to call the guards. You fled Windhelm that night, knowing that you had left your mother to die. There was only one place for you now, to drink your life away in the Ragged Flagon, a place where murderers and thieves can try to forget.

    The Blackguard Agent:

The Blackguards are a special branch of the Thieves guild, which are employed to spread the guild’s influence over Tamriel. They’re famous for being able to adapt and thrive in any environment, employing all the skills in a thief’s repertoire. The Blackguard Agent does not use magic, they instead rely on logic and their own skills. They admire the work of the Dwemer and study them intensely, always on the lookout for a new gadget! While the Thieves guild believes that murder is bad for business, the Blackguard branch have been given a license to kill, which is exercised using the Blackguard’s own personal assessment of the situation.  The Blackguard Agent seeks to further the interests of the guild, by working with the Jarls, exploring crypts for loot, or even assisting the Empire in the name of the Thieves guild. They’re the secret agents of Skyrim.

Code breaking  is an important skill in a Blackguard Agent's toolkit. They're trained to use Shadowmarks to communicate with fellow Blackguard Agents. It is the cunning mind of the Blackguard that helps them in their study of Dwarven schematics and other messages conveyed through code and symbolism.

     Level 50 Perk Spread

Archery is the Blackguard Agent's speciality. The Blackguard typically uses the bow in close quarters combat, however after assessing the situation, a few well placed arrows from cover might give the Blackguard the edge they need. An admirer of Dwarven technology, the Blackguard utilises the impressive design of the Zephyr bow and the Enchanced Crossbow to rapidly dispatch enemies.

The Blackguard is not an assassin, they realise that maintaining and  training in their light armour could be the difference between death and survival. The Blackguard uniform is a badge of respect amongst thieves.

Pickpocketing is one of the basic skills that a Blackguard utilises to survive. As an agent of the Thieves guild, they will often be tasked with retrieving valuable information, planting evidence or just straight up thieving!

Alchemy is a survival skill. Blackguard Agents may  find themselves in  a variety of situations which require some creative thinking to gain the upper hand. Sipping an invisibility potion before being captured, or paralysing a threatening foe are just a few ways for an agent to survive in Skyrim. Restorative potions are also an important resource for the Blackguard as they do not use magic, they instead rely on their own  resourcefulness.

It's important to note that the Blackguard Agent is not an assassin.
Stealth is a skill utilised for acts of espionage and subterfuge. Although you will find a Blackguard fighting their opponents openly, they may assess that they're outnumbered and open the battle with a surprise attack!

Lockpicking has saved many Blackguard Agents from a brutal interrogation. Rather than drink that poison you smuggled in, try using your advanced lockpicking skills to slip away. This skill is usually overlooked by other thieves who think that they can just persevere with the perks, but an agent must be able to excel in all situations.

Speech is used as an initial form of attack. Try to bribe, persuade and initimidate your targets or enemies before 'taking care of business.' Speech is critical on some tactical missions.

Combat: The Blackguard will use the light foot and silence perks to move swiftly towards their target. If the agent detects danger, they will crouch and make a tactical decision. If there is a large group of enemies, the agent will ready a suitable poison to open with a surprise attack, if the enemy does not appear to present a challenge, openly challenge them to combat. The Blackguard Agent is not an assassin. Stealth is used for tactical operations, thieving and espionage.

Roleplay: Your mother was murdered by the Nords, this fact is always niggling at the back of your mind. Join the Empire and bring down Ulfric Stormcloak! Not only will this further the interest of the guild, but it will settle a personal score for yourself, and your people living in Windhelm. Work with the Jarls and become their Thane, being in this position is exactly the kind of influence a Blackguard Agent needs. Help out your fellow Dunmer! You are somewhat of an underground hero for your people. Collect the stones of Barenziah, this is the perfect excuse to take on quests you wouldn't normally go near, you're going undercover to retrieve the stone. Explore Dwemer ruins, the Blackguard Agent is always on the lookout for new tools to help them ply their trade.

I like this, this is only the second build I've seen that uses it as a main armor set (I added it to my build but it was entirely optional)

This was a 50 perk spread so I was just prioritising, but I would eventually invest in Master Locks and more perks in pickpocket.

You should add the Black Bow as an option, as it fits both the name and interest in the Dwemer that the character has.

This is a pretty awesome build with an interesting backstory, but wouldn't it be helpful to get a melee weapon like mehrunes razor?

Will you actually see all these shadowmarks across skyrim?

Almost every building has a shadwomark on it
