The Hypnotist utlilises illusion magic and destruction magic to lure his foes into traps that he sets but tries to do this by being unseen.

He remains a shadow watching his enemies search for him in despair, writhing in pain and begging for death. Sometimes he will aid them, at other times he let's his magic send them to oblivion.

    ~-~-~-~

The Hypnotist uses traps made of fire, ice and lightning to envelop his foes. He also uses a rune to be a marker for his destruction. Many claim he is simply a myth made up, sadly no one has lived to tell the tale, only the dust and echoes of his victims remain as proof as no witnesses have ever escaped his gaze...

    ~-~-~-~

    Premise

As The Hypnotist you will use Fire/Ice/Lightning walls in a small area with a Rune as a marker, sort of like an X marks the spot for where you use a Throw Voice to make the enemy run to. By constantly casting Throw Voice (on rank 3) you are able to constantly move the enemies around either in or on the trap area. With quiet casting you will be able to place these traps close enough to the enemy that they will not fade before the enemy gets there and to not alert them while you are in stealth. You will also have a massive amount of mana regeneration which will make setting up traps much easier since out of combat regen is faster and you can have a full mana pool ready for if anything goes wrong.

Using poisons and pickpocket will let you pop into the enemy pockets poisons such as Weakness to: Fire/Ice/Lightning/Magic as well as a Paralyze poison and any other damage poisons such as damage to Health/Stamina/Magicka. By first placing these poisons then using your Wall magic on top of where the enemy has fallen over paralyzed you will be able to do a lot of damage, enough to kill or severely injure, upon casting all your walls you can then cast Invisibility to move away safely and to reset the battle if your reverse pickpocket fails.

    Variations

In the destruction tree you can chose either Intense Flames, Deep Freeze, Disintegrate. I would suggest 2 out of 3 but choosing all 3 can work too. I personally do not like intense flames as I do not want fear to make the enemies run from the trap, but I can see how some people may like that in order to shoot a feared enemy with projectiles.

    Synergy

By using fire/ice/lightning all at once you get increased damage from fire, chance to paralyze from ice (to hold them in the trap area) and disintegrate from lightning which in conjunction with fire will help reach the <10% mark to proc, much faster than without fire.

    Points and Perks(Level 50):

Magicka/Health/Stamina: 4/1/0 After every 4 levels into Magicka, place 1 into Health, none into Stamina.

Light Armor: Agile Defender 1/5, Custom Fit, Unhindered.

Sneak: Stealth 3/5, Muffled Movement, Light Foot, Silent Roll.

Pickpocket: Light Fingers 3/5, Night Thief, Poisoned, Extra Pockets (Helps to carry items since No points in Stamina)

    Alchemy: Alchemist 5/5, Physician, Poisoner.

Illusion: Novice, Apprentice, Animage, Kindred Mage, Quiet Casting.

Gear, Race, Standing Stone and Blessing:

Optional Gear: The Dawnguard Rune Hammer allows your Stamina to drop a Fire Rune, this can save your mana and use Stamina which is usually not in use. This is if you go Dawnguard instead of Vampires.

Race Choice: High Elf, but Dark elf can work here too, considering you will be a Vampire to offset fire weakness.

    Standing Stone: The Apprentice Stone

    Blessing Used: Blessing of Akatosh

    Vampirism Bonuses:

Night Stalker's Footsteps: Vampires are 25% harder to detect while sneaking.

Champion of the Night: Illusion Spells cast by a vampire are 25% more powerful.

    ~-~-~-~

    Early Playstyle:

At the start you will be relying on using destruction magic such as shock to kill off foes but also use fury at a distance to get packs of 2 or 3 enemies to kill each other while you stealth. Once you have muffle keep casting it so that you can get to quiet casting as fast as possible. Pick pocket is great for levelling perks fast and making cash to buy herbs or potions. Pickpocketing in a town can let you get some early levels to get the first perk from all trees listed, once you do that your mana efficiency will be excellent.

After having a few points in stealth and poisoner in pickpocket and rune traps available, you will be able to stealth bomb with rune traps or use poisons to weaken foes.

Aim to get Become Ethereal, this will help as an "Oh crap" button as well as helping with wall magic, can be useful to help fight Krosis for Throw Voice.

Aim to get Throw Voice as soon as possible, whenever you feel strong enough to beat Krosis.

    Quests:

Doing Thieves guild(Upto Nightingale Armor), Dark Brotherhood(either destroy or join), College of Winterhold(Spells, Trainers Etc),Greybeards(Optional, not essential), Vampires (Become one)Needed for Ring of Erudite and Vampire powers. Though if confident later on not needed.

    Spells/Tactics To Use:

    Illusion: Muffle, Invisibility, Fury.

    Restoration: Fast Healing.

Destruction: Ice/Fire/Lighting: Projectile, based on rank: Novice/Apprentice/Adept/Expert. Stop at Expert.

    Ice/Fire/Lightning Walls.

Ice/Fire/Lightning Rune (Can only have 1 cast at any time)

Reverse Pickpocket: Place poisons into pockets.

Shouts: Throw Voice, Become Ethereal (Also use to run long distances as Stamina is unlimited and you will have no points in stamina).

    Special Moves:

    Mind Trick

Make your foes search for you while you move them into traps and yourself are moving away.

While stealthed, cast in a single area some Fire/Ice/Lightning Wall magic + a Rune then Throw Voice onto the Rune then to the opposite side of the Rune to lure the enemies to move them into the trap.

    Manipulate

Make your foes move in circles close to you while adding more traps while they have their back turned.

While stealthed, set up a trap like in Mind Trick except stay close and while the enemy is searching for you and they turn around drop a Rune Trap or Wall Trap and then Throw Voice onto the spot to get them to return.

    Elemental Grave

Using all 3 elements while having an opponent knocked over will create a powerful area of destruction magic.

Firstly reverse pickpocket poisons into the enemy, use whatever you feel is needed for this enemy, make sure after you have used all the poisons you want to then use a paralyze poison last. Once the enemy has been poisoned and/or paralyzed cast all 3 Wall magic on top of the body of the victim.

    Mind Field

Like a mine field only made of magic, the mind field is an area around the Hypnotist that is made of Wall Traps.

First casting some Wall Magic around or near enemies who are either range or stealth, close enough that they engage in melee, then casting become Ethereal. This is great to use if you have been detected in stealth or are in a tight space like a cave corridor.

    Reality Riposte

Using projectile magic like a fencer, except to stab an enemy whom is fearful of wandering magic, breaking his sense of reality.

This move works best on mobs who are either sitting down or standing but are still, you need to get close to them first, then make them move away with a Throw Voice, then set up a Wall+Rune Trap where their normal location is, once they search for you and return to their spot, they will get damaged from the traps, this is when you strike. En garde!

This is fantastic! The video really does show off the power of this build. I was TOTALLY expecting a maxed out illusion build, but instead was pleasantly surprised at the synergy of destruction and Throw Voice. Awesome stuff! +1

Thanks man, a personal challenge I find as well is to try and kill as many people in the same trap as possible. I am up to 4 in one go so far lol, But as the video shows, I haven't even gotten to 50 yet, but I have tried at 50 with other characters who had all the talent points needed and it was very powerful. I find this build is fun as it's not conventional aim and kill its all about position and tactics.

Ah, nice work TZ I love it. I tried something similar but don't know why every time i made some enemy move on a rune then they automatically rush at me, even with rune master, quiet casting and moving away from the target (hell, even hiding like you do in your video)

Another awesome build, TZ! The first thing i was thinking about when i saw the clip was: A pure troller-build! You are trolling the enemies into elemental traps! I think i will try this out! :)

Hmm, a few things could of been at play, were you high enough stealth rank, muffled boots and casting muffle movement? I noticed early on runes did that too, but as I got better stealth boots etc it worked well, also casting Invis helps at times.

Being the presentation nut that I am I really appreciate this build. Some really quality use of throw voice which is usually one of the lesser shouts. I like maxed out destruction builds, I'd probably have to tone back the difficulty to adept to run a good trapper, dragons also become a bigger problem with 'patient' builds like this (learned that the hard way when I ran the Salamander) notice that you took the 'Impact' perk though which probably makes dragons far easier to deal with.

It's a shame that runes and walls get nerfed so much on higher difficulties. I think bethesda should introduce 'greater rune' spells in future dlc and fix up the wall spells so they actually do as advertised.

Great work! Really like it! +1

haha thanks mate, Yeah it pretty much feels like that, I know we are "tricking" the A.I into moving into them but I dressed it up as Hypnotism so it makes sense, cause honestly they are standing in the fire! lol

The actual muffle enchantment that you pick up on random loot is read by the game as 100% muffle (i believe this goes for the ebony mail as well). The muffle enchantment on DB boots and nightingale boots is only 50% muffle. The spell 'muffle' is also 100% making it great for any armored build.

Well, i guess i have to give it a second try. I thought it was some sort of glitch linked to runes, because in the exact same situatuion using  a stealth attack with bow and moving away left me undetected. Don't know if it's relevant but  i made my try against falmers
