I don't use any other Standing stone but the mage standing stone until I have maxed my spells, I didn't use the Atronauch Stone until I was well into my 60's, And personally never noticed any issues with it. Maybe I'm playing the game wrong?

'Tis interesting, I'm gonna actually ask Ponty about the technicals of this bug, maybe there's a way around it( besides using the aetherial crown) :\ I know he used it with his Mabrigash( who used conjuration).

That would be great, I don't know why I'm not having issues. I might be but just don't notice it, because I'm playing on a laptop, and have hardware lag. so I already have failed casting on every spell line. Once my new computer comes in Ill check it out on there. Either way the Aetherial crown looks like a nice item to get. I actually have the book for that quest, think I put it in my library. I'll have to go read it I guess.

I'm using the Unofficial patch so I don't get any of those issues but here's how it works:

Spell absorbtion has a chance of negating a spell completely based on the magnitude of the spell absorbtion effect (50% for example). When a spell is negated, an amount of magicka equal to the base cost of the spell is gained. This means, for example, if you had 100 Conjuration, the Expert Conjuration perk, and no cost reduction items, you'd regain a significant amount of magicka when casting Conjure Dremora Lord. The base cost is 358, but the cost for you to cast it is 358 - 33% from 100 Conjuration, and then chop that total in half for the perk. This means the cost for you to cast it is 119.93, so you regain 238 magicka.

    Hi Ponty,

This is some great information sir,I now know that my hardware lag is not showing me these effects, because I have have failed spells all the time for all spell types.

I need to rethink my stone choice for this class. or add the aetherial crown to the armor list.

Either way I'll wait until my new computer gets in.

You only play one class in Skyrim? That sounds boring.

    Hey Auroness,

Thanks for the great questions. At starting levels I used the flame atronach, flaming familiar, and any pet spell that was in my levels needs. Also Thanks to Ponty, aetherial crown is a required item for this build, I just thought this build was purged during the great purge. I use restoration spells, I just didn't put points in, I mainly used fast heal. The star of azura is another quest I find like to have, so I can keep any weapons I have on me charged. I completed the mage guild quests, and never did the war. As far as level 81, There are only a few characters I've leveled to 81, this being one. I don't think its required, I think 60 to 65 is a good level to stop, I just like fighting harder monter's, and was great fun when Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLC came out.

Not anymore, This is and was the only build I played for a long time, then I played the raven, and The roaming alchemist(as a roll play) now I'm working on a pure tank.

This is the reason I recommend that everyone who plays on PC, fan of mods or no, use the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. It fixes this and literally hundreds of other bugs. (However, it also fixes the Necromage/Vampire exploit and the Aspect of Terror exploit, so it ruins quite a number of this site's popular builds.)

I did happen to get the Unofficial Skyrim patch myself when I got my new computer. I use the enchanted crown I list above now, I like to keep the  aetherial crown for the Apprentice stone during harder fights.
