so I enchanted my bow with Fiery soul trap of 1 second, the problem is that it doesnt work for some reason. I have 100 petty sould gems in inventory but they do not fill with souls. THere is an animation of soul capturing when I kill something but the gems dont fill. is it that I already leveled my char to lvl 7 and enemies "level with me" (read on wiki that petty sould gems can capture only souls of enemies with lvl 4 or less only)?

EDIT: Also what would be the best place for low level character to farm souls?

Ok I figured it out, it wasnt working cos I was killing humanoids :P Its working on wolfs, crabs and creatures like that.

So yeah, the best place will be around woods and rivers, where there are a lot of small animals, mud crabs, etc. Just hunt like normal. Soul Gems aren't affected by level, just by type. Petty ones hold lame little souls, rabbits, mudcrabs, foxes. To soul trap big beasts, like trolls and mammoths, you need greater and grand soul gems. To soul trap people, you have to have black soul gems.

Im lvl 20 now, master dificulty, and I'm struggling quite a bit. I have Marchant, my enchanting is at 68(enchanter 4/5, Fire & Frost Enchanter), Destruction is at 38(Augmented Flames and Frost), Archery is at 42(Overdraw 3/5, Steady Hand 1/2

I have 5 enchanted hunter bows - fiery souls, fire, frost, fear, turn undead.

The problem is that im dealing very little damage to some enemies(basically anything that is stronger than a wolf, skeleton or common bandit :P). Im also very squishy. But thats not a problem with fear & turn undead.

The damage output is a problem.I just did the Black Star quest and the "claw quest" from RIverwood. Fighting some enemies in both of those quests was a major pain. I had to use enchanted dagger to kill the last boss in Black Star :P. Also it was taking me like 5 minutes of kiting or chasing feared enemies(mages and undead from claw quest) and tens of arrows to bring them down. To kill the boss  in "claw quest"(after activating dragin shout), I used like 50 arrows with fire enchanted bow(32 fire damage).

Not sure what im doing wrong. Am I missing something?  Is it my Archery(lvl 42)? Still missing a lot of perks in there. Should I work on that first? Or should I focus on maxing Enchanting for Extra effect asap? Or maybe I should get diferent bows that Hunter's?

And what enchantments should I put on my armour? I havent put anything yet.

Your Archery skill is seriously low for a level 20 character, perhaps invest in some Archery training and maybe add a few fortify Archery enchantments onto your armour.

Doesnt Fortify Archery affect only base bow damage? If it does then It probably wont make much difference since most damage in this build comes from enchantmens.

As for Archery level, Mason wrote in one of the comments that he didn't train archery(beside natural leveling)  so I didnt think its so important, especially that most of the damage in this build comes from enchantments, doesnt it?

What I'd like to know is what we do. After we have all the levels and equipment what quests do we do? Do we kill Alduin, stop the vampires plot, and go after Miraak? Do we do the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, College, and Companions quests? Do we join the fight for Skyrim, or make a nice house, get a wife, two kids, a housecarl, a steward, a bard, a carriage driver, and a pet? These are details that we need.

I think it's a build that's very open to interpretation. That's way Mason does them

Hey Mason love this chick, shes a boss! There is a problem though, you've got two builds up but I can only +1.

You could build her thrice. Once each for good, evil, and neutral and do her quest lines according to alignment, or run the chaos version all over the place. I tend to do a max of three major quest lines before I reset as my game gets too lag happy and buggy. That's just me though.
