Hey all, first post on the site haha. Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I'm currently playing through this build, and while I'm sure seasoned players will pick up on this, a good idea for the rookies is Azura's Star! That item is an incredible asset to this build, and the quest to get it was one of the first things I did!

    (Spoilers about Azura's Star below)

It's basically an infinitely re-useable soul gem that can hold any type of soul. Great if you're having trouble finding gems or if you want to capture a soul of a difficult enemy but lack the appropriate soul gem to do so.

    (End spoilers)

Here is what I did while playing this build:

    1) Run between Whiterun and Riverwood collecting the blue butterflys and blue flowers. 25+ will take you about 20 minutes. DO NOT LEVEL.

    2) After selling potions to Arcadia and Belethor for around 3k, go to Winterhold and get at least 100 petty soul gems. At level ONE you will be able to get about 6+ from each person. Reset the vendors after the first round to get a second round. Spend almost all your money.

    3) Now, you can level and go to Ironbind Burrow and get the fiery soul axe plus you will get a black soul gem. Go kill someone to fill the gem. To find the Burrow:  It is right by Night Gate Inn. If you leave Windhelm and follow the river west you will see it after the mill.

    4) Go back to Winterhold unenchant the axe and make your first bow. Now, you have a bow that collects souls. Don't worry about the quality or anything of this first bow it is just to collect souls and give you a little extra fire damage.

After this you can follow the above guide. Go to Greywinter Watch and RUN in get the bow and run out. Unenchant it and after you collect enough souls make stamina weapons to make lots of cash. Then go to the speech guy in Windhelm and work on speech. At least this is what I did and I found it works well.

Hope this helps and have fun.

Will this also suit a male character ?

Since there are absolutely no mechanical differences between males and females, I don't see why not (unless you count the fact that females tend to run slower than males... with the exception of the Bosmer).  The only difference here would be aesthetic.

But how can I not level while making potions? My alchemy skill will get up, and thus I will advance a level or two.

Do not go into the menu and level up. Simple. And this is pretty much exactly how Mason suggests starting off an enchanting character (making potions OT buy petty souls).

This may have been asked already but I'm wondering where crossbows fit with this build.
