For a long time, I've wanted to make a cross between a full on, enemy roasting fire mage, and a sword and baord type fighter. The answer is a unique class, rich in lore and power, a sort of grim paladin:

    The Beacon of Meridia

“To men the dark is terror, fear of the unknown, fear of the hunter. As the dark is to men, you shall be to the dark”

    The Beacon of Meridia

The Beacon is a paladin, of a sort, wearing runed steel armor, he serves his mistress Meridia, Lady of Infinite energies. In one hand he wields he blade, Dawbreaker or even Meridia's lost Brand, in the other, a Torch, her burning light.

His sacred duty is to purge the land of all evil, the undead scourge who are an affront to life, and, in turn, his patron god, The Lady of Life. Wearing the armor of a knight, he is skilled in the use of his legendary blade, Dawnbreaker, and his divine torch, his aegis against the dark. Wielding these powerful tools, his quest is unending, an uphill battle against overwhelming odds.

"There is much work to be done."

    The Build

Minor Skills: Heavy Armor, Block, Illusion, Destruction.

Flames -- (32 base dps with terror, intense flames and necromage) used as fear.

“If my fire cannot kill it, it cannot die.”

Bane of the Undead“A lone flame against the dark burns all the more brightly”

Guardian Circle“May my wings shield thee and steady thy blade”

    Divine Intervention

If you are in dire peril, Meridia intervenes on your behalf. (Passive) You are fully healed and cloaked a 32 dps swirl of fire, which imbues your weapon with 32 fire damage as well.

Konharik Mask Heal Effect + Avoid Death + Konharik Mask Flame Cloak Effect

    Torchlight

Unleash the living flame bound within Meridia's Beacon to purge your foes of all evil.
A 375+ Damage burst that causes foes to flee.

Torch bash + Flames + Fire Breath

"By the Red Fire of the King's Hall,

By the White Fire of the Eternal Sun,

By the Cold, Pale Fire of the High Magic,

    I Cast You Out!"

    Inner Sanctum

Become invulnerable to all harm, protected by the divines, you draw a sacred circle, abolishing your weakness, recovering in moments the vigor and youth a lifetime could not restore. Your health and stamina are fully healed as undead run in fear, bathed in flames.

Become Ethereal + Guardian Circle + Heal

“The dead do not rest, nor shall I.”

    Lore

You are unique, the one mortal selected by Meridia as her Champion in this, the mortal coil. It all began, when you, a lone traveler discovered a strange stone in a cave, it was of purest white, like diamond or newly fallen snow. It called you, beckoning, coercing, to an alter, where you saw Her for the first time. Meridia had found you, and you her, and thus your fate was set. Granted by Merida a sacred blade, you were charged with the task of saving the mortal realm from the plague of underneath sweeping the land. Wielding flame and steel and stength of heart, you undertook the task and rose to meet your destiny.

“Certainty of death, *small* chance of success... What are we waiting for? .”

    Role Playing

As Meridia's Beacon you are a holy man, a servant of a god. It is Her will you an acting, her law you are enforcing, and Her will which commands. You are honorable, just, and good. Wise as you are strong, you seek to help the weak and protect those who cannot protect themselves. You travel the land righting wrongs, delivering supreme judgment. Your ultimate mission is to banish the undead. They are uncountable in number, and you are a lone soul, but a powerful one. It is not your charge to defeat the dark, but rather to keep it bay, to stave off the eventual end. A doomed soul fighting a fight that cannot be won. You are a Knight, a Paladin, a Champion.

    Combat

Invest your points where you chose into health, stamina, and magicka. I personally like to min max away from magicka and compensate with enchants that reduce mama cost.

You fight similar to a sword and shield wielding warrior, with some key exceptions. You are a bit less protected than a fully armored warrior, (1/5 in Juggernaut) as your style is far more offensive than defensive. The torch in your off hand offers some protection, though not nearly as much as a shield; you stay alive by cutting down your foes.

Dawnbreaker, your sword, or an Enchanted Silver blade, is devastating versus the undead, your preferred foe. Your arsenal of spells is also largely geared against the undead, with your Crilces of Protection and Undead Fear spell; Guardian Circle and Bane of the Undead at the master level. Not to mention your devastatingly effecting fire attacks.

When fighting you want to block as often as possible with your torch, using it to soak up damage. It serves a dual purpose as you can then bash your foes to interrupt attacks, avoiding more damage and setting them ablaze. Your sword (either one) is devistating against undead, and, its enchants fed by terror, intense flames and necromage, can deliver rapid high damaging strikes, even when you are not power attacking.

If you take heavy damage, simply disengage and use healing to recover. In dangerous situations, shift to Ethereal Form before healing, giving you a few seconds to recouperate.

    Playthrough

The easiest first step is acquiring a torch, it will be your best of friends. Torches taken from wall sconces in mines seem to last forever, even in water; you have your ever burning torch.

As The Beacon of Meridia, your true first order of business is, as it so happens, finding the Beacon of Meridia. Go to her shrine, and get the quest to retrieve her beacon, speak to her, accept her task, and cleanse her shrine, winning Dawnbreaker.

After this is, your mission has begun, the dead do not rest, nor shall you.

To speak to Meridia, you need only place something from an undead at her alter and she will answer.

    “Into the dark, once-more.”

As soon as I'm done with my current build, I'm gonna try this out. It sounds like a fun build.

“if my fire cannot kill it, it cannot die.”

Well, looks like Flame Atronachs are invincible, we can all go home now.

It's times like this when I wish we had a "like" button for comments. I laughed hysterically at that.

Well, as they say, if you cant beat them, join them, or, more accurately, force them to join you with dark magic (command daedra). You do serve a Daedra lord after all.

That only works on summoned ones though

Original build, solid lore, remarkable playstile, with some resourcefull exploration of minor aspects of the game involving flame effects. I see a lot of possibilities to have a really good time playing this character - lots of dungeons and quests with undeads to slay. This seems like a master build.

Many thanks for your kind words. I put a great deal of thought into this build, I was a little surprised how it slipped under the radar. I'm glad people are still looking at it though. If I do say so myself, it is one of the most fun builds I've ever played.
