Will Dogmeat be in Fallout 76?

So I was thinking about my favourite canine companion whilst playing Fallout 4 the other evening - and wondering if he will make an appearance in Fallout 76?

What do you think? I think he WILL be in the game - and here are my 3 reasons why....

    1. DOGMEAT IS IMMORTAL

Let's face it Dogmeat is no ordinary mutt. He can't die, at least in Fallout 4. He can carry large amounts of junk despite having no place to put it. He can find his way to any settlement on the map, even if he's never been there before. He's AWESOME...

Dogmeat has been in all the Fallout games - well, the Bethesda games anyway. He wasn't in New Vegas, but then that wasn't a real Fallout game was it, lol. In fact the lack of Dogmeat was the reason it wasn't a proper Fallout game.

But you could have Dogmeat as a companion in Fallout 1. He wasn't in Fallout 2 much, but he did make an appearance. He was definitely recruitable in Fallout 3 and, as well know, you can barely avoid him in Fallout 4.

    2. HE HAS BECOME A MEME

I was reading up on Dogmeat and apparently the developers of Fallout 1 & 2 didn't really intend for Dogmeat to become the juggernaut that he has so obviously become. In fact, Dogmeat could actually die in Fallout 1, perish the thought!

But as time has progressed we have all learned that special powers and time-travelling capabilities of Dogmeat. And we now realise that he has become the Fallout equivalent of the Elder Scrolls character Maiq the Liar.

And just as no Elder Scrolls game would be complete without Maiq, it is surely unthinkable that we could EVER have another Fallout game without him?

    3. COMPANIONS ARE GOING TO BE IN SHORT SUPPLY

We already know there will be no human NPCs in Fallout 76, and we won't really need human companions in any case because we all have each other for company.

Surely that makes it MORE likely, not less, that we'll have Dogmeat around. Companions have always been part of Fallout - and without recourse to human companions we will surely have a variety of other recruitable NPC? Perhaps a Ghoul follower? A frienly Mr Handy robot? And, of course, the one-and-only Dogmeat!

I mean who else is going to lump ny junk around, and let me pump by body full of chems without judging me?

So that's why I think Dogmeat will be in Fallout 76. What do YOU think?

Looks like a tradition, so I'll keep my eyes out for the mutt.

Honestly, it's the easiest way for them to bring a companion into the game. Actually, what could be a little more interesting is if you bring in a few different animal companions, perhaps using Wasteland Whisperer? Just you know, expanding on it a little bit.

The point is, I definitely think that Dogmeat is going to show up again, can't see it not happening really.

Dogmeat could also die in Fallout 3 in fact one of the DLC added a perk that replaces him with one of his puppies whenever he dies. So it's only the Fallout 4 one that seems to be immortal.

Anyway, while I would like to see him in the game I don't think he'll be a companion even if he is in it. This is mainly because I can see a whole bunch of balancing issues when some people have him and others do not. It would be nice to have him hang around your settlement even if he can't follow you.

Unless they make Dogmeat a non-combat companion...that could work? I mean, realistically he could work pretty well as a scout, being able to alert you to nearby enemies or find treasure that's hidden underground. Wouldn't exactly be the same but it'd be a fairly balanced way to bring Dogmeat into the game, let people who want to take him along benefit from it but not really impacting combat.

Well, there are plenty of non-combat 'pets' in ESO, so I don't see why not
