Weapon Degradation and Repair

This point hasn't received that much coverage - but we know from the NoClips Documentary that weapon condition, degredation and repairing will make a return in Fallout 76. Hacing been part of Fallout New Vegas, this was totally absent from Fallout 4, meaning that even the most scappy of scrap-built weapons remained in perfect conditon forever. Highly unrealistic, I suggest...

Watch this video and then read on for some questions to discuss

Thanks to JV2017 for the nice video

So let's have a chat about weapon degradation and repair...

Firstly, are we pleased that this is making a return in Fallout 76? Personally, I am - even though it can make the game harder, it does add realism.

Do we think they'll return to the Fallout New Vegas system, whereby you had to carry around 'copies' of your weapons to repair your weapons on the fly. I don't think they'll do that. But what will be the alternative? Weapon repair kits that you craft at workbenches? Repairs from the junk you carry around.

If we do make repairs from junk will the repair skill or repair perks be available? What about the repair bobblehead?

And what will happen with legendary weapons? Will the legendary effect itself degrade to the point where it doesn't trigger?

Another thing I would like to see is things like pipe pistols i.e weapons made from junk  not only degrade, but actually backfire or explode back into junk when they eventually get to a point beyond repair - thus giving an incentive to repair them regularly.

Let's talk about weapons degrading and being repaired...

Urgh I just straight up hate the idea of it being anything like the New Vegas system, loved the game but that was not enjoyable. Personally I think they'd probably go with either something similar to Oblivion (get Repair Hammer, smack weapon with Hammer = weapon can kill things now) just because it's a bit easier to pick up. The other possibility is that there's a simple 'Repai Bench' that you can place, either use materials (like in F4) or caps to repair it. Makes it a bit less easy to just repair your weapons in the field, but still easier than New Vegas' system.

Definitely think that there will be repair perks, nothing ground-breaking but definitely something in...maybe Intelligence that makes it easier/cheaper/faster to repair items.
