Bethesda E3 Showcase Discussion

  • June 12, 2017

Fallout 4 is coming to VR! And Doom. But Fallout 4!

ES Legends is getting a Skyrim expansion pack.

Elder Scrolls Legends Skyrim 879x507 - Bethesda E3 2017 - Elder Scrolls Legends: Heroes of Skyrim

Bethesda's Creation Club - just paid mods.

Skyrim is also coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Anything else in the showcase catch your eyes? Questions, comments, or complaints? Discuss!

I'm actually rather interested in the Creation Club but only if it actually means we're going to get high quality content. From what they've shown off so far it isn't the sort of content that I'd really care about (I don't want more items unless they make sense, what I want is new quests, locations, etc.) It's an alright idea in theory, and much better than that time they tried paid mods (since it will be unique content) but I don't really have my fingers crossed for it.

I don't really see Fallout VR working out because...well it just doesn't feel like a game that fits with it, especially with VATS. I could definitely get behind the VR for Doom, it's a game that's basically perfect for VRs. Still I could be wrong, I'd probably give it a shot at some point (especially if it's free, under $30 or really good.).

Other then that Bethesda didn't impress me all that much, at least not from what I've seen so far.

The most interesting thing to me is the stuff they didn't even mention on the show. The Horns of the Reach and Clockwork City DLC for ESO.

Hmm... creation club... paid mods... really?
Beth wants to travel down that road again?

    What's the intent?
Paywall again, for stuff already out there done with passion?
Basically their way of saying" Erm, Mr Modder, thank you for creating free content and intergrating it into the game. I'm now gonna package it and sell it... and you'll get a small cut for what is essentially your work"

I don't see this as a win-win when there are so many mods on the nexus.
    What are they thinking?

Unless they can promise a bug free experience, complete with on-line support, there is no way money is gonna be thrown on his feature.

I won't watch their showcases until they announce their next big game. And paid mods? If the creator of the mod wants people to pay for his mods. Otherwise no. The donate system on the nexus is good enough in my opinion.

Waking up in the UK and catching up with what seems to me to be a massively underwhelming Showcase.

Basically it's existing games on new platforms, gimmicky VR versions and new DLC. Where are the huge and crazy new projects that were promised?

Just to remind ourselves, folks - Elder Scrolls VI has been pushed back to who knows when because Bethesda are working on exciting new projects. Well, I'm not seeing much evidence from this showcase...

A huge let down for me (and I predict a lot of hate across the Internet over the next 24 hours)

Hmm... it does seem that focus is on the MMO.
With beth's direction on the MMO being non-cannon, i wonder why all the focus?

Also, the DLC looks familiar... wasn't there a clockwork mod for skyrim?
Is this DLC then "inspired" by the skyrim mod clockwork (and by inspired i mean either re-creating the contents of this mod or outright plagarizing it)

If so, are we expected to spend real cash, for non-cannon content, inspired by a mod, which could be got for free (although i donated to this mod)?

At the very least, beth should get an expansion which allows for elder scrolls legends to be played as a card game in taverns, ala gwent from witcher.
Now THAT would be something i'd shell out cash for.

They can even make an additional NPCs pack to download to go ahead with it :)

Basically my opinion as well. I've resigned to the opinion that ES6 won't come about until at leat 2020, but still, it just seems disappointing to me.

    *Yawn*

That encompasses about the entirety of my reaction. A bit of a let down from Beth this E3. The incoming stuff for ESO Veloth already mentioned seems interesting enough though.

    In short - nothing interesting.
