    Hello, Vault Dwellers!

As you might have noticed, the Admins have recently introduced a new function to the site that we're very excited about: badges and achievements!

The new badge system will work a little differently than it did on Ning. On Ning, users had a single badge which covered a small portion of the avatar and we could only assign users a single badge at a time. There was no search or filter function and little to no visible information on what those badges actually meant. Typically, we only used these for donors or to indicate who was a site administrator.

On our new platform, we're very excited to announce that now people will be able to earn AND unlock multiple badges in a number of ways. As you might have noticed, we now have a "Badges" tab where you can view all community badges, what the badge signifies, and a list of members who have earned that badge.

Once you earn your first badge, a "Site Achievements" section will appear on your member profile, so that you can collect and show off your badges. This small section under a user's profile photo showcases a select few badges that member has recently earned, and links through to all of the badges they have earned.

So, the big question, how do you earn these badges and achievements? Right now there are three ways that members can earn badges:

    1) In the coming weeks we'll be rolling out new achievement badges that members can unlock based on their on-site participation. Those achievements might be based on number of original forum posts, group discussions, how long someone has been a member, or even rotating or temporary award badges that members can earn. So be on the lookout for those new unlockable achievements!

    2) Another way you can earn a badge is by participating in special on-site events. Every single site event might not have an associated badge, but many also will. In fact, the community will hold its first-ever badge event to kick off and celebrate the release of Skyrim Remastered!

We'll leave it to the CB Hosts to announce the exact details and event rules when they feel the time is right, but be on the lookout for the very first badge event in the coming weeks!

    3) Members can also earn badges by through service to the community in the form or Hosting, Admining, volunteering, and/or donating to the site. These various acts of community service will have associated badge levels.

These badges are currently a work in progress, and we'll be fine-tuning the badge and achievement system as we continue to roll out this feature.

If you experience a bug related to the badge system, please respond to this thread for the time being. If you have any questions regarding the badges and achievements, please feel free to leave those thoughts and comments here.

    Hey Bonelord, your famous!

Bonelord's badge is supremely badass. :)

As for badges! Yay! So much squeeeeeing and flailing from me, so much potential, you guys have no idea. I am super stoked about this and that CB will have a badge event. The Varg'Ette will be hashing out the rules in the coming week. We are super excited.

Gotta be said this is pretty damn cool. Never before have we had an achievement system and a more visible way of giving something back to the community.

My thoughts exactly. :) I'm really excited to be rolling this feature out and am looking forward to being able to come up with lots of cool ES and Fallout badges for our members to earn by just doing what they already do. Ning was so limited in what we could do with badges and this gives us a nice level of customization.

So 22 days until the end of the event I guess? "Master the Remaster" hints that it's about mods too, right?

Beginning of the event. Not the end.

Event begins on the 28th. :) Expect an announcement after I turn in my income tax return or a few days later when Vargr and I chat.
