    HUGE news this evening

Elder Scrolls VI has been CONFIRMED. And by 'confirmed' we don't mean some YouTube keyboard warrior. we mean confirmed by Todd Howard

    Howard comments

Elder Scrolls 6 is kind of like the elephant in the room, always, when we talk about anything, and you know, I think it's good in these moments to tell our fans yes, of course we are working on it - it's something we love - but it is... you know, I have to be careful what I say, it's a very long way off.

I could sit here and explain the game to you, and you would say, 'That sounds like you don't even have the technology. How long is that going to take?' So it is something that's going to take a lot of time, what he have in mind for that game, and we actually have two other large projects we're also doing that are bigger than everything we've done. People will probably hear about those even before Elder Scrolls 6. That'll make sense many years from nowWe think very long term.

We're not a developer that's going to rush something like this out. When you think about what is the future of that kind of game, we have a pretty good idea of what that's going to be, and it's just going to take technology and time we don't necessarily have right now.

When asked what the other two projects might be, Howard was cagey, but invoked Fallout 4's notably short time between announcement and release:

I don't want to say yet, but people should know by now that the gap between hearing about it and it coming out, I like that to be really short. They're all a ways off, and we'll talk about it when we talk about it.

HT to Patriarch for noticing this on Ign.com

Classic Howard. Still making it sound like it's next century.  NO WONDER we're getting Skyrim Remastered.  But at least we know for sure  TES VI coming and we have a shiny, new thing until then. Good catch, Patriarch!

So excited! I'm quite excited for Skyrim Remastered, I'm a PC player, but I have a friend who cannot run Skyrim on her PC, so finally she'll be able to play with better graphics AND mods, which is something she didn't have before. I'm wondering if there's more to Skyrim Remastered than just a face-lift. Maybe we'll get content added in that was cut from the original release?

As for Elder Scrolls 6 - HYPE. SO HYPE.
    Quietly chants "Valenwood, Valenwood, Valenwood!"

I'm just amazed that he said anything at all! It must be the first time he's said anything like this before they have an 'official' announcement.

I can only assume that he just sick of everyone asking - or maybe he'd been taking skooma before the interview or something.

Either way, I'm pleased we can put those 'I don't think there'll be an Elder Scrolls VI' comments to bed now...

What else am I going to do while at work?

I think he knows that people want the new Elder Scrolls game. he probably gets messages about it a lot on Twitter.

I'm sort of amazed he confirmed it too! Maybe the rumor mill that it wasn't happening at all (cough) just got to be too much and they figured that would do more damage in the long run than just dropping a tiny breadcrumb now.

People will probably hear about those even before Elder Scrolls 6. That'll make sense many years from now. We think very long term.

    This is incredibly cryptic.

Honestly, I'm suspecting more and more there will be a tiny content add-on included with Remastered.

I predict that we'll have a title teaser next year at E3 and then a full TES VI announcment at E3 2018 for a release date of holiday 2018. By then, the Playstation and and Xbox will have their new consoles out for a while. But, I honestly think that TES VI will have 2 modes: regular game and VR.

Clues: (1) Fallout VR is releasing next year. This will give them time to tweak it for TES VI; (2) Todd said, "When you think about what is the future of that kind of game, we have a pretty good idea of what that's going to be, and it's just going to take technology and time we don't necessarily have right now." To me, he seems to be referring to VR tech.
